A study was conducted for the determination of application rate of pig-dung composted with sawdust (referred as pig manure hereafter) for wetland rice. The study involved the field experiments with the cultivation of rice under different rates of application of pig manure in combination of different rates of chemical fertilizers, in a wetland rice soil. The field experiment involved following treatments : (I) Without fertilizer, (II) Standard rate of chemical fertilizers based on soil testing($98-73-71kg\;ha^{-1}$ as $N-P_2O_5-K_2O$), (III) $2.1Mg\;ha^{-1}$ of pig manure $>+80-37kg\;ha^{-1}$ of $N- K_2O$ as chemical fertilizer(Less $N-P_2O_5-K_2O$ contained in the compost), (IV) $4.2Mg\;ha^{-1}$ of pig manure+ $62-3kg\;ha^{-1}$ of $N-K_2O$as chemical fertilizer(Less $N-P_2O_5-K_2O$ contained in the compost), (V) $10Mg\;ha^{-1}$ of pig manure+ Treatment(II), (VI) $20Mg\;ha^{-1}$ of pig manure +Treatment(II). Number of tillers in treatment (I) were higher than other treatments in tillering and panicle formation stage. After heading stage, treatments (V) and (VI) have higher number of tillers, but treatment (III) and (IV) have fewer number of tillers during all growing stage. Uptake of NPK in rice plants was higher in treatment (VI), but the efficiency of N, P and K was higher in treatment (I), (III) and (IV). The yield of unhulled rice were in order of tretments (VI)>(V)>(IV)>(II)>(III), although the difference was not statistically significant. Inorganic nitrogen, available P and exchangable K contents in soil were highest at tillering stage in all treatments and became low from panicle formation to harvest stage. Available P in soil was increased by the application of pig manure upto 20 cm depth. Exchangeable cation contents in 40 to 60 cm soil depth was much higher in treatment (VI) than in other treatments. Treatment (V) and (VI) showed much higher losses of N. $P_2O_5 $ and $K_2O$ than other treatment. Though treatment (VI) tended yield higher than in other treatments, showed lodging and occurrence of leaf and neck blast in this treatment. Yield of unhulled rice in treatment (IV) was not significant statistically and reduced nutritional losses. It is conclude that treatment (IV) seems to be the most reasonable one for the application of pig manure in combination of chemical fertilizers.

We studied the influence of Hanwoo (Korean native cattle) manure compost soil application on the growth and yield of maize (Zea mays L.). We compared the soil application of chemical fertilizer (CF), commercial manure (CM), Hanwoo manure (HM), and the mixed Hanwoo manure and chemical fertilizer (HM + CF). CF application showed faster tasseling and silking dates compared to the other treatments. During the early plant growth stage of maize, CF application resulted in taller plant height, However, during later growth stages (55 days after transplanting). HM (226.0 cm) and HM + CF (230.0 cm) treatment resulted in taller plant height compared to CF (216.2 cm). Post-harvest measurement results showed that, the ear length was longer in HM (22.13 cm) and HM + CF (22.70 cm) compared to others, while ear diameter, ear weight, and 100-grains weight showed no significant difference among CF, HM, and HM + CF groups. The use of HM resulted in delayed growth during the early stages of plant development compared to CF. However, crop productivity markers of ear weight and ear diameter showed no significant difference compared to CF. Thus, HM treatment was comparable to CF treatment in maize cultivation.
The result of application of the organic manure obtained from livestocks fed with BLCSs in the red pepper under structure were as follow. The no. of fruit. fruit weight. fruit length. fruit width. and sugar content of red pepper treated with dong of fowl(BLCS) were higher, also. The contents of total N, P2O5, K2O, CaO, MgO, and cap-saicin in the red pepper fruit of treated with Dung of fowl(BLCS) were the highest, and the second was cattle dropping(BLCS). The contents of OM, P2O5, K, Ca, Mg, and CEC of soil treated with microorganism were the highest in the cattle dropping(BLCS) in any other plots, however. In general, effect of cattle manure fed with BLCS on the red pepper yield and microbial activity were higher than cattle manure did not feed BLCS.
High yield arable and crop farming demands a temporally and quantitatively determined application of plant nutrients according to field and culture. The nutrients may come from commercial fertilizers or from animal wastes. Regarding the dangers to soil, water and air, which come from current agricultural application measures for nitrogen, a sectoral approach for a nonpolluting liquid manure utilization can-not be used ally longer. An integrated system approach has to be found, leading to a drastic improvement of nutrient utilization and hence to a considerably reduced nutrient use. This can be only expected, if the organic manure can be applicated at times, when losses through leaching and volatilization can be minimized.

Application of water-saving self-feeders can reduce water consumption of pigs by more than 50% . so the feeding-watering system one of the most important way of the reduction of the slurry. Bioactive deep litter housing can eliminate slurry. Matured urine, faeces and litter can use for the purposes of soil conditioning and fertilizing . Water-saving slurry handling technology can halve manure dilution so it can double the nutrient content of the slurry. By using of straw bale biofilter for reducing emissions of pig houses makes fattening of pigs possible close to populated area. Developed rate control system for slurry application make avoiding over-fertilization possible , can fulfill better the demand of nutrient of plants. By means of computer aided manure utilization system area distribution of soil characteristics can determinate . The system is suitable for planning the utilization of manure and slurry in environment -friendly way.

Assessment of sustainable production on a cropland can help to determine the most proper management practices. In this study, we evaluated the sustainable production on paddy field treated with green manure crops using sustainability index which based on nutrient index, microbiological index, and crop index related to nutrient-supplying capacity. Especially choosing appropriate indicators from a minimum data set (MDS) were used the principal components analysis (SI-2) as well as expert opinion (SI-1) usually used in sustainability index. Six treatments including the two tillage treatments and two green manure crops were investigated as follows; (i) moldrotary + rotary tillage without green manure crop (Con), with (ii) hairy vetch (Con-HV), and (iii) hairy vetch + green barely (Con-HV+GB), (iv) rotary tillage without green manure crop (Rot), with (ii) hairy vetch (Rot-HV), and (iii) hairy vetch + green barly (Rot-HV+GB). Con-HV and Rot-HV in SI-1 were maintained sustainability while Rot-HV and Rot-HV+GB in SI-2. Especially, treatments (Con and Rot) without green manure crops were more unsustainable than with green manure crops because of the low value of microbiological and crop index than with green manure crops. Meanwhile, sustainability indices and grain yield had the high correlation values ($R^2=0.756$ and 0.928 in SI-1 and SI-2, respectively). These results meant that application of green manure crops such as hairy vetch could improve both yield and soil quality in paddy.
As the environmental pollution caused by excessive uses of chemical fertilizers and pesticides is aggravated, organic farming using pasture and livestock manure is gaining an increased necessity. The application rate of the organic farming materials to the field is determined as a function of crops and soil types, weather and cultivation surroundings. When livestock manure is used for organic farming materials, the volatilization of ammonia from field-spread animal manure is a major source of atmospheric pollution and leads to a significant reduction in the fertilizer value of the manure. Therefore, an ammonia emission model should be presented to reduce the ammonia emission and to know appropriate application rate of manure. In this study, the ammonia emission rate from field-applied pig manure is predicted using an artificial neural network (ANN) method, where the Michaelis-Menten equation is employed for the ammonia emission rate model. Two model parameters (total loss of ammonia emission rate and time to reach the half of the total emission rate) of the model are predicted using a feedforward-backpropagation ANN on the basis of the ALFAM (Ammonia Loss from Field-applied Animal Manure) database in Europe. The relative importance among 15 input variables influencing ammonia loss is identified using the weight partitioning method. As a result, the ammonia emission is influenced mush by the weather and the manure state.

This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of manure and chemical fertilizer on the forage yield and quality of oat at no-tillage. The experimental design was a randomized complete block design. The three treatments were: chemical fertilizer, manure fertilizer, and chemical and manure mixture. Seedling vigor was higher at chemical fertilizer than manure, but more greener at manure application than chemical fertilizer. Dry matter (DM) content of oat at manure was higher than chemical and mixture fertilizer (p<0.05). There was no difference in DM yield, TDN (total digestible nutrients) yield, and CP (crude protein) yield of oat at no-tillage system, but the fresh yield was significantly higher in chemical fertilizer compared to manure. The CP content for oat was significantly higher in manure than chemical fertilizer. However, no significant effects were observed for NDF (neutral detergent fiber), ADF (acid detergent fiber), TDN and RFV (relative feed value) in different fertilizer application. Based on the results of this study, manure don't affected forage production and quality of no-till oat except CP content because forage oat is used off-season crop.
Fertilization effects on changes in soil $CO_2$ flux and organic C in switchgrass (Panicum virgatum L.) land managed for biomass production were investigated. The mean daily soil $CO_2$ flux in the manure treatment was 5.63 g $CO_2-C\;m^{-2}\;d^{-1}$, and this was significantly higher than the mean value of 3.36 g $CO_2-C\;m^{-2}\;d^{-1}$ in the control. The mean daily $CO_2$ fluxes in N and P fertilizer treatments plots were not different when compared to the value in the control plots. Potentially mineralizable C (PMC), soil microbial biomass C (SMBC), and particulate organic C (POC) were highest at the 0 to 10 cm depth of the manure treatment. Potentially mineralizable C had the strongest correlation with SMBC (r = 0.91) and POC (r = 0.84). There was also a strong correlation between SMBC and POC (r = 0.90). Our results indicated that for the N and P levels studied, fertilization had no impact on temporal changes in soil organic C, but manure application had a significant impact on temporal changes in soil $CO_2$ evolution and active C constituents such as PMC, SMBC, and POC.

Green manure crops have been well recognized as the alternative for chemical fertilizer, especially N fertilizer, because of its positive effect on soil and the environment. Hairy vetch and green barley are the most popular crops for cultivation of rice in paddy field. This study was conducted to evaluate effects of hairy vetch and green barley on soil microbial community and chemical properties during short-term application (three years). For this study, treatments were composed of hairy vetch (Hv), green barley (Gb), hairy vetch + green barley (Hv+Gb), and chemical fertilizer without green manure crops (Con.). Hv+Gb treatment showed the highest microbial biomass among treatments. Principal component analysis (PCA) showed that PC1 (73.0 %) was affected by microbial biomass and PC2 (21.5 %) was affected by fungi, cy19:0/18:$1{\omega}7c$ (stress indicator). Combined treatment with hairy vetch and green barley could be more efficient than green manure crop treatment as well as chemical fertilizer treatment for improvement of soil microorganisms.
