HDD Stamped base의 강성 증가를 위한 최적 설계 (Optimized Design of HDD Stamped Base to Increase Stiffness)

  • For the production method, stamp base is increasing the market share. But also, by the manufacturing method, stiffness of the stamp base is small. Many studies have been carried out in order to increase the stiffness of the stamp base. In this study, we optimally designed according to the position of bolting using a screening method in order to increase the stiffness base. After establishing a simulation model, the maximum deformation and frequency of the first mode based having relevance with stiffness of the base, were optimized. There for, it was possible to expect of increasing the stiffness of the stamp base.

Image Noise Reduction Using Structural Mode Shaping for Scanning Electron Microscopy

  • In a scanning electron microscope (SEM), outside acoustic noise causes image noise that distorts observations of the specimen being examined. A SEM that is less sensitive to acoustic noise is highly desirable. This paper investigates the image noise problem by addressing the mode shapes of the base plate and the transmission path of the acoustic noise and vibration. By arranging the position of the rib, a new SEM base plate was developed that had twisting as the 1st and 2nd modes. In those two twisting modes, vibration nodes existed near the center of the base plate where the specimen chamber is placed. Less vibration was transmitted to the chamber and to the specimen by the twisting modes compared to bending ones, which are the 2nd and 3rd modes for a rectangular plain base plate. An SEM with the developed base plate installed exhibited a significant reduction of image noise when exposed to acoustic noises below 250 Hz.

  • Grinding is considered as a very effective machining technology to attain high production rates and a good surface quality of hard and brittle components. However, the grinding operations till needs the skill and the experience of an operator because of a lack of scientific knowledge and engineering principles. This is the reason why grinding operations are not completley intergrated in CIMS(Computer Intergrated Manufacturing System. Recent develop- ment focus on expert system which deals with domain specific knowledge in order to solve this problem. Firstly, in this study, a basic strategy to develop the grinding knowledge-base for grinding is discussed. Next, the architecture of knowledge-base and management of the grinding knowledge-base(GKB) is described.

  • In this paper we describe Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS) using Petri nets, since Petri nets provide a powerful tool for modeling dynamical behavior of discrete concurrent processes. We deal with off-Line and on-Line rule-based scheduling of FMS. The role of the rule-base is to generate appropriate priority rule for resolving conflicts, that is, for selecting one of enabled transitions to be fired in a conflict set of the Petri nets. This corresponds to select a part type to be processed in the FMS. Towards developing more Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IMS) we propose a conceptual framework of a futuristic intelligent scheduling system.

COH형 LED 패키지를 이용한 가로등 생산공정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Manufacturing Processes of Street-lighting System using COH LED Package)

  • Recent high oil price results in the development of energy saving technology such as LED lighting system. Street-lighting system using COH LED package can save energy because the heat dissipation through cupper base is better than conventional technology. Studies on manufacturing processes of lighting system are insufficient even though LED package design and its heat analysis have been studied. This study focuses on the problem and solution of manufacturing processes such as LED packaging process, optimized emission angle, and LED bar dimension for mechanical assembly. As a result, we established better manufacturing alternatives of LED packaging and street-lighting system with higher lighting efficiency of 84 lm/W, as well as good illumination intensity of 39.7 lux at 6 m from lighting source.

  • Laser cladding is a technique for forming beads by melt-sintering with a laser while directly feeding metal powder onto the base material through nozzles. This technique, which is applied in laser surface treatment technology, is useful for repairing broken or worn parts by allowing selective formation of the surface layer of the base metal material. In this paper, laser cladding process was performed on STS316L powder using high power continuous wave laser with IR wavelength and the cladding characteristics according to process conditions were experimentally analyzed.

  • This paper deals with the development of an expert process design system interfaced with CAD for porismatic parts in injection mold manufacture. The developed CAD/CAPP system consists of two modules such as CAD interface module and process design module. Parts are represented using AutoCAD system on the IBM PC/AT. CAD interface module recognizes form features and manufacturing features of the part using form feature recognition algorithm and manufacturing feature recognition rule base. Process design module selects operations and determines machine tools, cutting tools and operation sequencing by using knowledge base which is acquired from expert process planners. A case study is implemented to evaluate feasibilities of the function of the proposed system. The CAD/CAPP system can improve the efficiency of process design activities and reduce the time required for process design.

  • This paper deals with development of a Computer Aided Process Planning System based on knowledge base in addition to database for injection mold as a part of Computer Integrated Manufacturing System for injection mold manufacture. The prposed system consists of four modules such as manufacturing feature code generation module machine tool selection and sequencing module, operation and cutting tool selection mudule and standard time estimation module. The system is programmed by using Turbo Pascal on the IBM-PC/AT. The performance of the system is evaluated by using real problems and the test results indicate that the proposed system is a practical and efficient system.

유한요소법을 이용한 제트엔진 디스크의 초소성 단조공정설계 (Process Design in Superplastic Forging of a Jet Engine Disk by the Finite Element Method)

  • Process design in superplastic forming to produce a Nickel-base jet engine disk has been carried out using the rigid-viscoplastic finite element method. This study aims at deriving systematic procedures in forging of superalloy engine disk, and develops a simple scheme to control strainrate within a range of superplastic deformation during the forging operation. The new process, a pancake type preform being used, is designed to have less manufacturing time, and more even distribution of effective strain in the final product, while the conventional superplastic forging of an engine disk has been produced from a cylindrical billet. The jet engine company, Pratt & Whitney, provided the basic information on the manufacturing process of superplastic forging of a jet engine disk.

  • Base-mounted type(BMT) driving assembly in CNC machine tools is an indispensable part to improve productivity by reducing tool changeover time and to meet the ever-increasing demand of precision machine tools. This study aimed to perform finite element analysis and geometric parameter optimization to improve the efficiency of BMT driving assembly. First, simulations for three-dimensional structural and vibration analysis were performed using ANSYS/Workbench on the initial geometric models of BMT driving assembly. After analyzing stress and deformation concentration zones, several new geometrical models were designed and evaluated by design of experiments and ANSYS/DesignXplorer. Through a series of analysis-evaluation-modification cycles, it was seen that designed models were effective in determining optimal geometry of BMT driving assembly.
