Chemometrics using near-infrared (NIR) and Raman spectroscopy have found significant uses in a variety quantitative and qualitative analyses of pharmaceutical products in complex matrixes. Most of the pharmaceutical can be measured directly with little or no sample preparation using these spectroscopic methods. During pharmaceutical manufacturing process, analytical techniques with no or less sample preparation are very critical to confirm the quality. This study showed NIR and Raman spectroscopy with principal component analysis (PCA) was very effective for the blending processing control. It is of utmost importance to evaluate critical parameters related to quality of products during pharmaceutical processing. The blending is confirmed by off-line determination of active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) by a conventional method such as high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and UV spectroscopy. These analytical methods are time-consuming and ineffective for real time control. This study showed the possibility for the determination of blend uniformity end-point of CR tablets with the use of both NIR and Raman spectroscopy. The samples were acquired from six positions during blending processing with U-type blender from 0 to 30 min. Using both collected NIR and Raman spectral data, principal component analysis (PCA) was used to follow the uniformity of blending and finally determine the end-point. The variation of homogeneity of six samples during blending was clearly found and blend uniformity end-point was successfully confirmed in the domains of principal component (PC) scores.

The diagnostic radiation equipment is managed in accordance with the "Rules for Safety Management of Diagnostic Radiation Equipment" enacted in 1995. The equipments should be inspected before use and every three years after use in accordance with the [Appendix 1] of the same rule. The inspection standard has been maintained without particular revision since enacted. But, over the past two decades new types of equipments have been manufactured and used. So, it is necessary to revise [Appendix 1] by making inspection items and inspection standards. In this study, we revised the classification system of equipments and reviewed international standards of IEC 60601 series, IEC 61223 series and AAPM TG 18 On-line Report No.03. And identified the problem of current inspection standards. Through this, we revised, deleted and added the inspection items and inspection standard of each equipment to meet the domestic circumstances. As a result of the study, we reorganized the classification system of equipment which are current classified as 5 classes into 22 classes as X-ray system etc. (7 classes), CT system etc. (5 classes) and Dental X-ray system etc. (10 classes). And then, we developed 70 inspection items for 6 types of equipments according to the reorganized classification system of equipments. The inspection items and inspection standards derived from this study have been proposed to the KCDC and will be applied to the revision of the Rule's [Appendix 1]. Therefore, we expect to be used as reference materials for domestic medical center, inspection institutions, and equipment manufacturing import companies.
The purpose of this study is to clarify how modern formative art reflects surrealism and propose a Art Make-up expressed based on the trend. The study also aims at demonstrating the part that the Make-up based on surrealism is also an artistic being keeping pace with the trend of art. For the purpose, the study reviewed related theoretical backgrounds and works as manufactured. Based on these theoretical backgrounds, the author anufactured works of his own, realizing the combination between theoretical and practical aspects. Those works were motivated from existing surrealistic paintings or otherwise made surrealistically through creation by the author for himself. The works included , (Work 2-MAGRITTE's Expression>, , , and . Results of the study, which were obtained through manufacturing the works, can be described as follows. First, senses of modern formation and line were emerged by applying the materials and images frequently shown in surrealistic paintings to human bodies. Second, characteristics of the Art Make-up for artistic image were revealed, not limited to colors, expressions, subjects, techniques and materials. Third, an unlimited, interesting expression of the Make-up using a variety of materials became possible by applying extremely subjective, surrealistic paintings and images in various ways. This paper proposed that the Make-up should be a artistic image itself, not as a secondary means for an obvious expression of personal beauty which has been maintained since the ancient times. The researcher tried to put the Art Make-up into our daily life by making creative works which viewed and psychologically enjoyed by people and by proposing the works as sort of image theme to the spectators.
Ambers have been used as a gemstone and a religious object since the ancient times and found in several archaeological sites in Korea. To prepare an enhanced conservation measures, we surveyed the chemical and spectroscopic properties of the ambers according to the provenance. Total 14 amber samples were collected from 6 different provenances including Baltic, Chiapas, Colombian, Dominican, Fushun and Madagascar amber. Infrared (IR) spectroscopic analysis was conducted for the non-destructive examination of the amber samples. They were also analyzed with pyrolysis/GC/MS (py/GC/MS) at the pyrolysis temperature of $300^{\circ}C$ with the on-line derivatization to trimethylsilyl ester. Baltic shoulder corresponding to the absorption at $1250cm^{-1}{\sim}1150cm^{-1}$ appeared in the IR spectrum of Baltic amber. IR spectra of the other ambers also showed somewhat distinctive characteristic peaks. In py/GC/MS analysis peaks assignable to succinic acid, dehydroabietic acid and pimaric acid were detected, which are known to be the components of the amber. In the meanwhile, the presence of compounds appearing in certain amber will be applied to differentiate the provenances of amber relics if their fragments are available for the analysis. These results are expected to help the confirmation of archaeological amber relics and archaeometric interpretation of provenances and manufacturing techniques.

Statistical control charts are useful tools to monitor and control the manufacturing processes and are widely used in most Korean industries. Many Korean companies, however, do not always obtain desired results from the traditional control charts by Shewhart such as the X-chart, X-chart, X-chart, etc. This is partly because the quality charterstics of the process are not distributed normally but are skewed due to the intermittent production, small lot size, etc. In Shewhart X-chart, which is the most widely used one in Korea, such skewed distributions make the plots to be inclined below or above the central line or outside the control limits although no assignable causes can be found. To overcome such shortcomings in nonnormally distributed processes, a distribution-free type of confidence interval can be used, which should be based on order statistics. This thesis is concerned with the design of control chart based on a sample median which is easy to use in practical situation and therefore properties for nonnormal distributions may be easily analyzed. Control limits and central lines are given for tile more famous nonnormal distributions, such as Gamma, Beta, Lognormal, Weibull, Pareto, Truncated-normal distributions. Robustness of the proposed median control chart is compared with that of the X-chart, the former tends to be superior to the latter as the probability distribution of the process becomes more skewed. The average run length to detect the assignable cause is also compared when the process has a Normal or a Gamma distribution for which the properties of X are easy to verify, the proposed chart is slightly worse than the X-chart for the normally distributed product but much better for Gamma-distributed products. Average Run Lengths of the other distributions are also computed. To use the proposed control chart, the probability distribution of the process should be known or estimated. If it is not possible, the results of comparison of the robustness force us to use the proposed median control chart based on a normal distribution. To estimate the distribution of the process, Sturge's formula is used to graph the histogram and the method of probability plotting, $X^2$-goodness of fit test and Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, are discussed with real case examples. A comparison of the propose4 median chart and the X chart was also performed with these examples and the median chart turned out to be superior to the X-chart.

The train control system used in Gyeongbu-line is classified in ATC, IXL and CTC. Domestic railway signaling systems are being developed by electrification. In these systems the electrification of interlocking reaches 57% and the safety equipments of railway crossings in trackside devices have completed their development into an integrated system. Block systems of all the existing sections have not yet electrified and integrated so that they need a number of complement in terms of construction and maintenance. For ABS currently used in existing domestic lines, and LEU being installed in Gyeongbu and Honam lines, although a train is controlled by the signaling information of the same train in the same location, the system is separately installed so that the same information is separately divided and transmitted at the each distinct system. Therefore, in the conventional ABS and LEU, there are a lot of duplicate installed compartments such as lamp detection and a power supply unit. Hence, we have a lot of problems: for maintenance, a lot of manpower and costs need to be invested and the overall manufacturing costs get higher, as well as the construction costs by duplicate. Therefore, this paper suggest design to develop an integrated electronic Block Control Unit by the integration of the currently used ABS, and communication and electronic technology. We are to monitor and manage the block systems in the corresponding station by integrating. And we are to transmit information together with LEU, which is an ATS wayside transmitter.

In the devices used in the microwave frequency band, the gain decreases as the frequency increases due to the parasitic component. To compensate for these characteristics, a linear gain equalizer with an opposite slope is needed in wideband systems, such as those used for electronic warfare. In this study, a linear gain equalizer that can be used in the 18 ~ 40GHz band is designed and fabricated. Circuit design and momentum design (optimizations) were carried out to reduce the errors between design and manufacturing. A thin film process is used to minimize the parasitic components within the implementation frequency band. A sheet resistance of 100 ohm/square was employed to minimize the wavelength variation due to the length of the thin film resistor. This linear gain equalizer is a structure that combines a quarter wavelength-resonator on a series microstrip line with a resistor. All three 1/4 wavelength short resonators were used. The fabricated linear gain equalizer has a loss of more than -5dB at 40GHz and a 6dB slope in the 18 ~ 40GHz band. By using the manufactured gain equalizer in a multi-stage connected device such as an electronic warfare receiver, the gain flatness degradation with increasing frequency can be reduced.

As a modem urban train is getting complex in terms of high-technology in its systems and components, the failure management should be performed with scientific and systematic technique. FMEA is a technique to analyze the failure trends of component parts and influences to the higher level system in order to discover the design incompleteness and potential defects, which is for improving reliability. Especially, FMECA (Failure Mode Effects, and Criticality Analysis) is used in case that the criticality that has an immense influence to the system is important. In case of urban train, in its design and manufacturing steps, FMEA is frequently used as an analysis technique to meet the safety objectives and eliminate potential hazards/failures since the concepts of reliability of train is introduced these days. Though, FMEA technique in the maintenances steps lacks in its investigation and applications yet. FMEA is also not applied to the trains operated by Seoul metro in the design and manufacture steps excepts the newest trains. In this paper, through analyzing the failures/maintenance data of the belt-type door systems used in trains operated in Seoul metro Line 1, which is accumulated in RIMS (Rolling-stock Information Maintenance System), FMEA procedures to the belt-type door engines are proposed. Especially, an effort is made, to approach the detailed FMECA procedures to the door magnet valve and switch and door engine devices which vastly influences the customer safety and satisfaction.
A simple semiquantitative procedure was developed for the determination of sub-ppm level of chromium(VI) in aquatic samples by using an analytical micro-column packed with diphenylcarbazide(DPC) gel beads. DPC gel beads were prepared by swelling XAD-2 resin(115∼150 mesh in dry condition) in ethanol for 10min, packing into a glass column(1.5 mm bore, 65nm length) and adsorbing 1ml of ethanol solution of $2{\times}10^{-3}M$ DPC for 20min at room temperature. When 0.5ml of ethanol solution containing chromium(VI) was passed through the DPC gel column for 40min, the original white color of the reagent gel turned to red-violet from the up-stream of the column. As the length of colored band was proportional to the total amount of chromium(VI) in the sample solution passed through the column, the concentration of chromium(VI) could be determined from the calibration line which had been prepared by using the standard solution. Chromium(VI) ion as small as from 0.1 to 0.8 ppm could be determined with ${\pm}5{\sim}{\pm}15{\%}$ relative errors. Since other interfering cations were few, 100-fold excess of Fe(III), 50-fold excess of Cu(II) could be masked with EDTA. This method was successfully applied to the analysis of chromium(VI) in industrial effluents.
Plasma Display Panels(PDPs) require to have improved luminous efficiency, low manufacturing cost, and high image quality to compete with other flat display devices such as Liquid Crystal Displays(LCDs) and organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs). In addition, the diversity of product line-up may be needed for high market share. In this paper, the optical characteristics of typical green phosphor for PDP application are reviewed and the problem-based solution will be proposed. We also shortly describe the principle of 3D-PDPs which are promising. Then, the requirement of green phosphor for 3D-PDP application is summarized and research achievement, as of now, is described. The typical problems of $Zn_2SiO_4:Mn$ phosphor, which is the most well-known, are the negatively charged surface property and the long decay time, which leads to unstable discharge in green cell and afterimage. These problems were solved by coating the phosphor surface with metallic oxide. It was found that $Al_2O_3$ would be the best material for $Zn_2SiO_4:Mn$ phosphor. It gives longevity as well as low operating voltage due to the charging effect in green cells. Also, new phosphors, $(Y,\;Gd)Al_3(BO_3)_4:Tb$ and $(Mg,\;Zn)Al_2O_4:Mn$ phosphor are proposed for increasing the luminance and reducing the decay time, which are capable to apply for 3D-PDP application.
