승용차 동력전달계에 대한 클러치 디스크 특성의 영향 고찰 (An Investigation on the Effects of Clutch Disk Characteristics for a Passenger Car Driveline)

  • The clutch with torsional damper is installed on a passenger car with manual transmission, which not only transmits the power generated by engine to the transmission but also absorbs the shock and vibration from the engine. The torsional damper in the clutch dissipates the torsional vibration energy and eliminates the resonance in the driveline but high damping in the damper causes the increase of the vibration level which is against the comfort and durability. In this study, a dynamic model for the passenger car driveline with manual transmission was developed to investigate the vibration and the effects of characteristics of the driveline. With the dynamic model, the vibration characteristics of driveline were examined by the mode analysis and driving simulation, and the effects of hysteresis torque and spring constant were investigated. The vehicle tests with prototype torsional dampers were preformed and the test results showed good agreements with the simulation.

For understanding dynamic characteristics of the clutch that is one of the most important elements. the mathematical modeling of the core element of a manual transmission is fulfilled and using this modeling the simulation program is developed. To verify this analysis, the A.M.T dynamomenter is constructed.

  • In this study, the advanced shift control algorithm for parallel type hybrid drivetrain system with automated manual transmission(AMT) is proposed. The AMT can be easily realized by mounting the pneumatic actuators and sensors on the clutch and shift levers of the conventional manual transmission. By using the electronic-controlled AMT, engine and induction machine, it is possible to achieve the integrated control of overall system for the efficiency and the performance of the vehicle. Performing the speed control of the induction machine and the engine, the synchronization at gear shifting and the smooth engagement of clutch can be guaranteed. And it enables to reduce the shift shock and shorten the shift time. Hence, it results in the improvement of shift quality and the driving comfort of the vehicle. Dynamometer-based experiments are carried out to prove the validity of the proposed shift control algorithm.

  • This paper presents a case study on the tribological failure analysis of a clutch system for a manual transmission car. The clutch systems are composed of clutch disk, clutch pressure plate, flywheel rubbing surface, coil and diaphragm springs, release bearing and lever, clutch spline and shaft. The purpose of a clutch system is to transmit and disconnect the driving power of engines by frictional farce from a rubbing surface of a flywheel to a clutch disk and clutch pressure plate with a minimum power loss. In this study, many tribological failure cases based on the wear phenomena and thermal distortions have been presented, which are collected from the car repair shop and maintenance center. The triboiogicai failures are mostly come from the driving conditions, overloading of a car, and especially driving style and personal habit of a car driver.

MR 햅틱 큐를 이용한 차량 기어변속 보조장치의 성능평가 (Performance Evaluation of Vehicle Gear-shifting Supportive Device Utilizing MR Haptic Cue)

  • This paper proposes a driver supportive device with haptic cue function which can be applicable for vehicles adopting manual transmission system to transmit gear-shifting information to a driver by kinesthetic forces. This haptic cue function is implemented on accelerator pedal by utilizing magnetorheological(MR) fluid and clutch mechanism. In order to achieve this goal, an MR clutch mechanism is devised to be capable of rotary motion of accelerator pedal. The proposed MR clutch is then optimally designed and manufactured under consideration of spatial limitation of vehicles. After transmission torque is experimentally evaluated according to field intensity. The manufactured MR clutch is integrated with accelerator pedal and electric motor to establish the haptic cue device. Control performances are experimentally evaluated via a simple feed-forward control algorithm.

  • In this study, a shift control algorithm far improving the shift quality of a parallel hybrid drivetrain with an automated manual transmission (AM) is proposed. The general AMT requires the sophisticated control of clutch in the clutch engagement to improve its shift characteristics, and that is generally known to be difficult. But in this hybrid drivetrain, we can control the speeds of clutch plates by engine and motor control, and it provides the easier clutch control in shift process than general AMT. Additionally, it permits the much-reduced shift shock. The motor control during the shift period is also to achieve reduced velocity drop of the vehicle in comparison with that of a general AMT. Furthermore various dynamometer-based experiments are carried out to prove the validity of the proposed shift control algorithm.

  • The automated mechanical transmission(AMT) is composed of electronic control management(ECM) and automatic shift gear(ASG). The AMT has advantages which are high efficiency of manual transmissions(MT) and offer operation convenience similar to automatic transmissions(AT). However, it has defects that are the torque gap during gear shift transients and shift time is long. To reduce such defects, it is necessary practically to evaluate error and characteristics as developing simulation model before the control algorithm is applied. In this paper, models are composed of vehicle model and AMT shift control model. Particularly AMT shift control model consists of main clutch management model (MCM) and shift control management model(SCM). The developed models were verified by comparing the simulated and experimental results under the same operational conditions. It can also be used to evaluate shift algorithm.

  • This paper presents a discrete analysis approach to investigate the performance of dual mass flywheel (DMF). In the discrete analysis, arcspring installed between the flywheels is modeled as N- discrete elements. Each element consists of mass, spring and nonlinear friction element. LuGre friction model is used to describe nonlinear friction characteristic. Based on the dynamic models of the DMF, clutch, engine, manual transmission and vehicle, a DMF performance simulator is developed using MATLAB Simulink. Simulation results of the engine speed, driveshaft torque and vehicle velocity are compared with test results. It is found that the discrete DMF model describes the vehicle behavior closely, especially during the clutch actuation period.

  • 자동차 수동변속기 내 래틀과 같은 회전체 진동은 엔진 연소폭발 주기와 연동하여 발생한다. 이러한 충격형 진동 특성은 선형 시간 불변 분석법을 적용하여 살펴볼 수 있다. 기어의 동적 특성을 이해하기 위해, 특정 형태의 앞 바퀴 굴림 방식 수동 변속기에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 첫째, 동특성 고유값과 주파수 응답함수를 기반으로 자유도를 줄이는 방법을 제시하였는데, 이는 행렬의 크기를 줄이는 효과적인 역할을 한다. 둘째, 단일 질량 플라이휠과 이중 질량 플라이휠의 동적 특성을 비교하였다. 모빌리티 분석을 기반으로 한 이중 질량 플라이휠의 효과를 검토하였는데, 이로부터 진동에 의해 가진되는 충격을 회피하기 위한 기본 개념을 이해 할 수 있다. 마지막으로, 두 단계 클러치 댐퍼로부터 유효 강성 값을 도출하여 선형 불변형 시스템 모델을 연구하였다. 두 단계의 서로 다른 클러치 강성조합을 이용하여 클러치 댐퍼의 동적특성에 대한 관계를 예측할 수 있다.

농업용 트랙터의 전후진 파워시프트 변속 특성 해석 (Analysis of Power Shuttle Characteristics of Agricultural Tractor)

  • A dynamic model of a power shuttle transmission was developed and its validity was verified using the experimental data obtained from a transmission test bench. A 40㎾, 4WD tractor was also modeled using an application software EASY5 to investigate parameters and their effects on the power shifting performance. For a tractor model, the manual reverse gear was replaced by a power shuttle transmission. The tractor model also included an engine, main-gears for transmission, wheels, differentials and planet gears. Using the tractor model, the effects of the parameters such as modulating pressure and time, engine speed, tractor speed. tractor weight. reverse to forward speed ratio and torsional damper on the transient characteristics at starting and shuttle shifting were investigated by the computer simulation. The transient characteristics were represented by variations in clutch pressure, torque transmitted to input shaft and driving wheels, and power transmission capacity of the clutch. It was found that the modulating pressure and time affected most significantly the torque transmission and shifting time. The input torque, axle torque, power transmission capacity of the clutch and transmission time all increased with increase in engine speed, tractor speed. tractor weight and ratio of reverse to forward speeds. However, the axle torque decreased with tractor speed. Both the axle torque and power transmission capacity of the clutch also decreased with the ratio of reverse to forward speeds.
