조정성과 내구성 향상을 위한 타이어 측벽형상 최적설계 (Optimal Design of Tire Sidewall Contours for Improving Maneuverability and Durability)

  • Automobile maneuverability and tire durability are significantly influenced by the sidewall tire contour. In order to improve these tire performances, it is very important far one to determine a sidewall contour producing the ideal tension and strain-energy distributions. However, these requirements can nut be simultaneously achieved by conventional non-interactive multi-objective optimization methods based on mathematical programming, because these exhibit the conflicting behavior each other, with respect lo the sidewall contour. Therefore, we execute the tire contour optimization fur improving the maneuverability and the tire durability using satisficing trade-off method.

  • In order to improve automobile maneuverability and tire durability, it is very important for one to determine a suitable sidewall contour producing the ideal tension and strain-energy distributions. In order to determine such a sidewall contour, one must apply multi-objective optimization technique. The optimization problem of tire carcass contour involves several objective functions. Hence, we execute the tire contour optimization for improving the maneuverability and the tire durability using satisficing trade-off method. And, the tire optimization also requires long cup time for the sensitivity analysis. In order to resolve this numerical difficulty, we apply neural network algorithm.

  • In this paper, the optimum design of tire sidewall contour consisted of double plies for improving automobile maneuverability and tire durability is considered and a GUI program is developed for the purpose of the practical design. Each improvement of maneuverability and durability depends on the cord tension and strain energy distribution of tire sidewall. Satisfing trade-off method, which requires the judgment of aspiration levels, is used for the multi-objective optimization problem. Also, this paper presents the application to the practical sidewall contour design with the GUI program developed using visual Fortran.

  • An efficient multi-objective optimization method is presented making use of neural network and a systematic satisficing trade-off method (STOM), in order to simultaneously improve both maneuverability and durability of tire. Objective functions are defined as follows: the sidewall-carcass tension distribution for the former performance while the belt-edge strain energy density for the latter. A back-propagation neural network model approximates the objective functions to reduce the total CPU time required for the sensitivity analysis using finite difference scheme. The satisficing trade-off process between the objective functions showing the remarkably conflicting trends each other is systematically carried out according to our aspiration-level adjustment procedure. The optimization procedure presented is illustrated through the optimum design simulation of a representative automobile tire. The assessment of its numerical merit as well as the optimization results is also presented.

  • New approach to determine the optimal design of automotive tire profile was introduced. In this study, optimal design technology was combined with a finite element method. Through tire profile optimization, tire profile was obtained and its profile improved high speed durability and maneuverability Static and dynamic behavior analysis of new concepted tire was compared with conventional tire profile. Optimal design methodology will provide much informations to improve various tire performances.

  • In this paper, track tension estimation methods are developed for tracked vehicles which are subject to various maneuvering tasks such as longitudinal driving on sloping and/or rough roads. The information of the track tension is very important for the tracked vehicles because the track tension is closely related to the maneuverability and the durability of the tracked vehicles. A modified 3 DOF dynamics model is derived for the tracked vehicles and is utilized for estimating the tractive force and track tension for the longitudinal driving case. The tension estimation performance of the proposed methods is verified through the simulation of the Multi-body Dynamics tool. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method under various maneuvering tasks of the tracked vehicles.

  • In this paper, track tension estimation methods are developed for tracked vehicles which are subject to various maneuvering tasks such as turning and pivoting on flat road. The information of the track tension is very important for the tracked vehicles because the track tension is closely related to the maneuverability and the durability of the tracked vehicles. Kinetic models for the six road-wheels are obtained and used for calculating the track tension around the sprocket. This method does not require the tuning of the turning resistance, which makes it difficult to estimate the track tension in turning. The tension estimation performance of the proposed methods is verified through the simulation of the Multi-body Dynamics tool. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method under steering and pivoting of the tracked vehicles.

  • Although there existed many types of manual/power hybrid wheelchairs, their use was not widespread because of their inconvenience in converting drive system and in folding frames. To carry a wheelchair in the car or to convert driving methods, some hard work of disassembling or exchanging wheels was required for most of currently available hybrid wheelchairs. In this study, the standard foldable manual wheelchair was reformed to a power wheelchair by installing the newly developed Axial Flux Permanent Magnet(AFPM) type of brush less direct current(BLDC) motor on each rear hub of wheelchair. This wheelchair could be driven by manual or electric power without exchanging. wheels, thus no additional work was needed for carriage or for power conversion. The developed wheelchair was evaluated for durability, stability, maneuverability, cost, and reliability in accordance with the Korean standards. The results indicated that the developed hybrid wheelchair was good enough for commercialization comparing to other imported wheelchairs.

  • 급속한 산업발달과 도시인구의 집중화로 자동차의 이용도가 높아져 이를 육지의 교통 및 수송 수단으로 가장 널리 사용하고 있는 현실이다. 자동차는 1886년 독일의 다이믈러가 사륜가솔린 자동차를 발명한 이래 1913년 미국의 헨리,포오드가 대량생산으로 만들어 개인화가 시작되어 오늘에 이르기까지 끊임없이 발전을 거듭해 왔다. 더욱이 자동차공업은 기계, 금속, 전자, 화학 공업 등이 총망라된 종합공업으로 이들 공업의 발달에 병행하여 모든 산업분야의 발전에 크게 기여해 왔다. 특히 전자공업의 발달에 따라 자동차 생산제공정의 자동조작과 자동차 자체의 작 동에도 많은 컴퓨터 시스템의 이용이 두드러지고 있다. 최근에 들어 에너지위기와 공해문제의 대두로 연료절약(fuel saving) 및 저공해(low pollution)의 자동차 생산에 많은 연구개발이 집중 되며 또한 쾌적성(comfortability), 조향안정성(maneuverability), 내구성(durability), 신뢰 성(reliability)등 까지 중요한 연구개발테마로 하여 많은 발전을 계속하고 있다. 본 고에서는 현재 자동차공업의 선진국인 미국, 일본을 중심으로 유럽 여러나라들의 자동차공업의 현황과 자동 차공업이 직면한 사회적 문제 및 장래의 전망에 대하여 통계적 수치를 중심으로 고찰하고자 한 다.

항공기용 초고장력강(300M) 부품의 가공변질층과 응력부식균열에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Affected Layer and Stress Corrosion Crack of Ultra-high-strength Steel (300M) for Aircraft Parts)

  • Mechanical components that support structures in aerospace and power generation industries require high-strength materials. Particularly, in the aerospace industry, aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, and composite materials are increasingly used due to their high maneuverability and durability to withstand low temperature extreme environments; however, ultra-high-strength steel is still used in key components under heavy loads such as landing gears. In this paper, the fault cause analysis and troubleshooting of aircraft parts made of ultra-high-strength steel (300M) broken during normal operation are described. To identify the cause of the defect, a temporary inspection of the same aircraft was performed, and material testing, non-destructive inspection, microstructure examination, and fracture area inspection of the damaged parts were performed. Fracture analysis results showed that a crack in the shape of a branch developed from the tool mark in the direction of the intergranular strain. Based on the results, the cause of fracture was confirmed to be stress corrosion.
