A five-month-old toy poodle was referred for treatment of bilateral mandibular fractures. Preoperative skull and dental radiographs showed rostral mandibular fractures and permanent teeth that had not yet erupted. In addition to providing stability for the healing of fractures, it is very important to focus on restoring normal occlusion. The mandibular fractures were repaired using interdental wiring in a dentate area where the deciduous canines and fourth premolars were stable and could be used to anchor the interdental fixation. In the absence of an erupted permanent mandibular first molar, the modified Risdon wiring was performed using the deciduous mandibular fourth premolars as anchor teeth. An intraoral splint was placed on the mandibular teeth using self-curing composite resin. Five months after surgery, the patient had experienced no complications, and the permanent teeth had erupted normally. In this case, which involves a small-breed puppy with deciduous dentition, treatment with a wire-reinforced interdental splint using intact deciduous fourth premolar teeth as anchor teeth can be considered as a suitable method for rostral mandibular fracture restoration.

The Twin Blocks technique was developed by Dr. William Clark of Scotland during the early 1980's. Twin Blocks are an uncomplicated system that incorporates the use of upper and lower bite blocks. These blocks reposition the mandible and redirect occlusal forces to achieve rapid correction of malocclusions. They are also comfortable and the patients wear them full-time-inducing eating time. Occlusal forces transmitted through the dentition provide a constant proprioceptive stimulus to influence the rate of growth and the trabecular structure of the supporting bone. The features of Twin Blocks mean easier and quicker treatment. The occlusal inclined plane is the fundamental functional mechanism of the natural dentition. Twin blocks are bite blocks that effectively modify the occlusal inclined plane to induce favorably directed occlusal forces by causing a functional mandibular displacement. Upper and lower bite blocks interlock at a $45^{\circ}$ angle and are designed for full-time wear to take advantage of all functional forces applied to the dentition including the forces of mastication. The patients who were treated with modified Twin Blocks, and following results were observed: 1. Large overjet and deep overbite were corrected. 2. Class II molar relationship was changed into Class I. 3. Labial inclination of upper incisors was corrected by adjustment of labial bow of upper bite block. 4. The profiles of two patients were improved by anterior displacement of mandible.

The purpose of this research was to analyze the relationship between parents' attitudes toward their children's dental health and dental plaque index. Dental plaque index was obtained through oral examination of 118 children(female 40, male 78) with primary dentition The maintenance status of children's dental health though parents' aids was evaluated by means of questionaire to which 79 persons among the 118 children's parents answered. The results were as follows : 1. In children with primary dentition, toothbrushing together with toothbrushing instruction and continuous reinforcement had decreased plaque accumulation progressively. 2. Dental plaque index before toothbrushing showed that dental plaque was accumulated more in the buccal surfaces of teeth in the maxilla and in the lingual surfaces of teeth in the mandible. It was higher in the posterior teeth than in the anterior teeth and in the maxillary teeth than in the mandibular teeth. 3. Dental plaque index of childern was inversely proportional to the level of education of their parents. 4. Those parents who have much knowledge of oral hygiene were more positive toward their children's oral hygiene.

Class II malocclusion can be treated via early orthopedic, orthodontic treatment or orthognathic surgery with orthodontic treatment. In the mixed dentition, early orthopedic treatment can be used. Especially, in the case of mandibular retrognathism, the functional appliances can be used, and in the case of maxillary protrusion is combined, they can be used together with headgear. After using activator and activator combined with headgear to the class II malocclusion paitent in the mixed dentition, the results were as follows: 1. Lateral profile was improved, and lower face height was increaed. 2. Overjet was decreased, and molar relationship was changed to class I molar relationship. 3. Growth can be undisturbed, and the aggravation of malocclusion can be prevented to make the 2nd phase orthodontic treatment be much easier.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the width and length changes of the dental arches during the deciduous dentition period. 600 stone models of maxillary and mandibular arches obtained from the children aged 3, 4, or 5 years were under measurement. The results were as follows ; Arch widths and lengths differed with age, sex and arch. 1. * Widths of dental archs increase with age both in males and in females. * Lengths of dental arches decrease with age in females, but remain somewhat stable in males. 2. * The dental arches of males were wider than those of females in both the ant. and the post. section. * The dental arches of males were longer than those of females: ant.arch lengths were almost same, but post. arch lengths were longer in males. 3. * Upper arches were definitely wider and longer than lower arches.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the range of condylar movement of children with young permanent dentition. Materials included 33 roentgenograms of 4 serial projections of TMJ by modified transcranial projection with Accurad 100. Four serial projections were taken in the centric occlusion, rest position, 1 inch open, and maximum open position. The results obtained from this study were as follows. 1. The condyle was located anteriorly in articular fossa at centric occlusion. 2. The condyle was moved forwardly and downwardly during mandibular movement from centric occlusion to maximum open position. 3. The pattern of condylar movement was similar in both sexes, but there were no sex differences in distance of condylar movement.
The authors selected fifty children aged 2 to 4 years who had normal occlusion from the patients admitted at the Pedodontic Department in the Infirmary of Dental College, S.N.U. Study casts were taken and observed on the primate spaces and terminal planes which are characteristics of primary dentition. The results were as follows: 1. The percentages of terminal planes were 56%±7.02 in mesial step type, 38.0%±6.86 in straight step type, 6.0%±3.36 in distal step type, respectively. 2. The percentages of primate space were 80%±5.09 in maxillary dental arch and 5.0%±7.06 in mandibular dental arch. 3. The percentage of mesial step type in korean children was higher in comparison with that in foreign children and the percentage of the primate space was about the same in korean & foreign children.

Face mask is an extraoral appliance which used to protract maxilla, and can help in the correction of moderately severe class IlI malocclusions by the anterior displacement of the maxilla and maxillary dentition, and possibly restricting or changing the direction of the growth of the mandible. In three cases the results were followed. 1. Anterior crossbite was corrected 2. Maxilla & maxillary dentition were displaced forwardly. 3. Lingual tipping of the mandibular incisors, and backward & downward rotation of mandible were performed. 4. Acceptable improvement in the class III profile was performed.
The development of the lobe pattern in the human dentition plays a part in the form and function of each individual teeth. In order to determin the morphological categories used to describe the occlusal surfaces of the maxillary and mandibular molars, the variation of the developmental grooves which separate each lobe in the molars was examined and analysed. The obtained conclusions were as follow. 1. Most of the maxillary first molars with more distinct and more developmental grooves than the other molars but in most cases of the third molar, a heart-shaped outline due to poorly developed or abscent distolingual cusp was most frequent and in this case the third molar had the 3 cusps separated by the central developmental groove and the buccal developmental groove. 2. In most cases, the mandibular first molar had the 5-cusp type that the groove patter resembles a Y, the second molar the 4-cusp type arranged in such a way that the buccal and lingual developmental grooves meet the central developmental groove at right angle on the occlusal surface and many instances of the mandibular third molars had the 5-cusp thpe with a+groove pattern which separatess the mesiolingual cusp from the distobuccal cusp and the 4-cusp type with a+groove pattern. 3. The maxillary and mandibular third molar were most variable in the developmental groove.
This study was performed to measure the mandibular movement and the changes of masicatory and sternocleidomastoid muscle activity reflected by occlusal disturbance during habitual chewing. For this study, 18 subjects(14 males and 4 females with an average age of 24.0) were selected. The impression of each subject were taken for measuring intermolar distance on lower dentition. The activities of masticatory and sternocleidomastoid muscle and the mandibular movement were recorded and analyzed during habitual chewing by means of E.M.G.(electromyograph), E.G.N.(electrognathograph), rotate program in BioPak analyzing system(BioResearch Inc.). The results were as follows : 1. In EMG of the mandibular rest position, the mean value of muscle activites were increased by nocleidomastoid muscle and anterior belly of digastric muscle(0.05
