  • To identify major causes of the global environment changes arising from extreme and unusual weather patterns occurring these days, and to foresee future environmental changes, it is highly important to shed light on the correlation between climate changes and global environment system. To investigate the correlation between climate changes and global environment system, it calls for establishing an integrated climate-environment DB for analyzing comparatively the data on climatic changes and global environment system. In the preceding studies, we researched an XML-based integrated climate-environment DB and developed a management system for the DB. However, the existing integrated climate-environment DB, designed and installed only for individual PCs, does not allow multiple users 'simultaneous access. Accordingly, it fails to systematically update and sharing data which is being generated continuingly. Hence, this study aims to develop an easy-to-use GIS-based integrated DB management system by improving the existing integrated climate-environment DB through the adoption of the client/server model. For this, this study collected and analyzed climate and environment data prior to designing and building a DBMS-based integrated DB. In addition, in order for multidisciplinary researchers to easily get access and apply the integrated DB, this study designed and developed a GIS-based integrated DB management system using a client/server model which facilitates connections with multiple PCs. The GIS-based integrated climate-environment DB management system makes it easier to efficiently manage and locate scattered climate-environment data. It is also expected that the DB system will bring the effects in saving time and cost by avoiding the overlapping generation of data in the areas of integrated climate-environment research.

  • To manage a cluster of distributed server systems, a number of management aspects should be considered in terms of configuration management, fault management, performance management, and user management. System performance monitoring and reporting take an important role for performance and fault management. In this paper, we present distributed system architecture modeling of a performance monitoring and reporting tool. Modeling architecture of four subsystems are introduced: node agent, data collection, performance management & report, and DB schema. The performance-related information collected from distributed servers are categorized into performance counters, event data for system status changes, service quality, and system configuration data. In order to analyze those performance information, we use a number of ways to evaluate data corelation. By using some results from a real site of a company and from simulation of artificial workload, we show the example of performance collection and analysis. Since our report tool detects system fault or node component failure and analyzes performances through resource usage and service quality, we are able to provide information for server load balancing, in short term view, and the cause of system faults and decision for system scale-out and scale-up, in long term view.

  • OPC is the preferred communication standard for sharing process control data at all levels of the enterprise and becomes the global standard, sends/receives the data with PLC programs of inspection system via network, and manages various data using OPC server. In this paper, we introduce the developed OPC client system for FPD inspection system with OPC server. To control inspection system through OPC server, we have developed libraries which consist of stage driver, switch driver, microscope driver, image processing, alignment, and task management modules. Also we have developed the test program to verify all functions precisely. We describe the mechanism of inspection system, OPC connection method, and programs.

  • Internet services are utilizing a variety of server/client technologies. In particular internet technologies provide improved accessibility to information for facility management customers and users for the systems. This study is the architectural data exchange system development more effective management and accept using on Internet web environment. This paper is the explore the use of computers in architectural planning that how the information may be extracted drawing entered into database and exchanged architectural detail data interfaces. System support communication and interactive collaboration among designers through complex Building object during the Design. There are four part in collaborative design system. User Management system, Standard Database System, Project Database System and Interface system. All Data are recognizable format include drawing file and contents. Web/DB server supported communication and collaboration among partners in the building design and construction process. • In this paper, we designed and implemented the ACE(ACtive Emergency call service system) system for emergency call service actively. ACE system has two physical components; E-Device(Emergency Mobile Device) and E-Server(Emergency Server). The role of E-Device is the mobile device in order to call emergency by using mild handi-capped, the elderly and children who are able to communicate theirs intention to another. E-Server is the server for management E-devices with realtime monitering. E-Device will be developed to the portable size for easily mild handi-capped, the elderly and children. When they need the service of emergency call, the button of E-device can be used and the call signal is transmitted to the emergency office and the guardian through Internet and CDMA. E-server should be developed the integrated control system for management of E-Devices basically. And it also supported to realtime monitoring of E-devices with respect to high quality of emergency call service for rise the efficiency.

  • The usage increase of digital contents required solution for protection technology and interoperability of system. MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group) proposed MPEG-21 Multimedia Frameworks. MPEG-21 IPMP is standard that provides the means to enable digital item and rights information to be persistently managed and protected across networks and devices. In this paper, MPEG-21 IPMP based system to protect digital contents designed by four structures of license server, production server, consumption server, tool server. License server create rights information document using the XML-based REL about multimedia contents of users. Production server makes a digital item by packaging multimedia resource and metadata, which is combined by REL information and IPMP information of multimedia resource. Consumption server takes care of the functions of players that use digital item, and tool server was implement to transmit for missing tool that might occur in all procedures.

  • IP and SIP public broadcasting systems developed in Korea and abroad are developed in a Windows or Linux server environments and are installed in a server-rack structure, have high power consumption, and are difficult to remotely respond to system failures. In this paper, IoT platform is designed to connect IoT device and gateway to IoT service server by using internet service structure. We also designed a server based on embedded OS that can provide a variety of public safety management services according to the order of the server with built-in call processing and broadcasting function that can handle emergency calls and emergency broadcasts in public places using this structure. This server is interoperable with a variety of SIP-based call and broadcast devices that support the standard SIP and can be integrated with an in-house phone and on-premises system.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyse the manager's policy to maximize the profit in a multiple-server queueing facility with a limited queue capacity. We assume that the level of advertizing effects on the arrival rate of customers to the facility. The model without ‘word of mouth effect’ is assumed that the arrival rate is independent on the qualify of service level. We estimate the service quality by the balking rate of customers from system. We extend this to the model with ‘word of mouth effect’. To achieve the maximum profit, the most important factor is the considerably high utilization of facility for both models. Given service rate, we should maintain an effective arrival rate to some extent. To this end, among the available options, an increase of advertizing effort is more desirable than reducing the fee if the service value of customers remains unchanged. We also investigate whether the variability of service time has a significant impact on determining the optimal policy. The cost of service variability is not so expensive as that in a single server model due to the reduced variability of service times in a multiple-server model.

  • In this study, a threshold policy is considered for the M/M/2 queueing system with server vacations. The probability generating function for the number of customers present in the system is derived using an embedded Markov chain approach. Then, assuming a linear cost structure, an efficient procedure to find an optimal threshold policy is presented. The Laplace-Stieltjes transofrm for th waiting time of an arbitrary customer under a "FIFO" discipline is also derived.o derived.
