The h-index is a new tool for measuring research outputs based on citation and many variants of h-index have been proposed to improve the weaknesses of h-index. The h-index and its variants can be applied to institutional evaluation in three different ways. We worked out 447 practical cases of professors from 10 business schools and examined h-index and its variants. And then we compared three evaluation methods of research institution based on the h-index and its variants.

While database(DB) and information retrieval(IR) have been developed independently, there have been emerging requirements that both data management and efficient text retrieval should be supported simultaneously in an information system such as health care, customer support, XML data management, and digital libraries. The great divide between DB and IR has caused different manners in index maintenance for newly arriving documents. While DB has extended its SQL layer to cope with text fields due to lack of intact mechanism to build IR-like index, IR usually treats a block of new documents as a logical unit of index maintenance since it has no concept of integrity constraint. However, In the DB-IR integrations, a transaction on adding or updating a document should include maintenance of the posting lists accompanied by the document. Although DB-IR integration has been budded in the research filed, the issue will remain difficult and rewarding areas for a while. One of the primary reasons is lack of efficient online transactional index maintenance. In this paper, performance of a few strategies for per-document basis transactional index maintenance - direct index update, pulsing auxiliary index and posting segmentation index - will be evaluated. The result shows that the pulsing auxiliary strategy and posting segmentation indexing scheme, can be a challenging candidates for text field indexing in DB-IR integration.

This study proposes the introduction of management assessment system on the remote island route passenger companies in a way of stimulating the companies to make sustained efforts on management improvement, and come up with the ways of management assessment index and management assessment methods by using the AHP scheme. These indices are organizes in three categories. The main category is consisted of responsible management part, management an control part, business operation part and customer satisfaction part, and the intermediary category has the 15 items including the efforts for responsible management, and the sub category is consisted of 44 items including the management vision of executive and participation of enterprise in responsible management, and others. The scoring of these indices is the result of scoring by calculating the added weight for each category by using the AHP scheme that it is considered as needed for the scoring adjustment for each standard of assessment index by the adjustment of added weight for categories with the consideration of shipping company operation and shipping characteristics while undertaking the actual affairs.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to measure the reliability of complex equipment. Reliability of product is one of the most important factor to achieve competitiveness in the market. While there were many researches for assessing the reliability on components and modules, research on quantitative assessment tool for equipment with many component was little because of equipment's complexity. Methods: In this article, we developed index to assess reliability management system by using IEC 60300 and Reliability Management Tool-kit. With MIR and BARS, we developed reliability index clauses relevant to reliability activities and found weight factor for each clause by survey on experts. Results: The results of this study were as follows; reliability index that can assess both management side and technology side of the company was developed. Conclusion: Using this index, we assessed the reliability of a manufacturing equipment and found out the current reliability level of the manufacturing equipment, and derived improvement points.

Index adjusted ratio method has been widely utilized in public construction sector for contract sum adjustment by price fluctuation. In this method, the Production Price Index are used for the base ratio, but the PPI can't reflect the character of construction project in respect of the selected items and weight. In this research we prove the problem of using the index adjusted ration method in contact sum adjustment by price fluctuation, and improve it by using the construction cost index, which has the property of construction project. And we figure out the efficiency of the proposed method by case study.

The goal of the present research was to suggest a simple, reliable, and easily evaluated index of drought that could be used to consider a counterplan for water supply management against water shortage for municipal and industrial uses in city area. The index of drought was calculated by the Phillips drought index technique. The phillips drought index is based on exceedence probabilities of monthly precipitation but it can also utilize daily data in order to present drought information on a real-time basis when needed. The application of the suggested technique was tested to municipal water supply system and management of Ulsan city and Pohang city, and showed promising. The Philips drought index technique could be used for lany other city's drought contingency paln.

Background: By regulating the factors that contribute to oral diseases in a healthy way, oral health can be maintained and prevented. Methods: The general characteristics, PHP index, oral health behavior, and clinical periodontal index of each group were calculated by frequency analysis, and a cross-analysis (χ² test) was conducted to assess the homogeneity of the general characteristics, oral health behavior, and clinical periodontal index of the study subjects. An Oral bacteriological examination was performed by gargling with saliva. Results: The expert periodontal prevention group showed a decrease in the copy number of periodontal disease causative bacteria, and A. actinomycetemcomitans, P. gingivalis, T. forsythus, andT. denticolashowed a significant difference before and after treatment (p=0.021). In the periodontal treatment group, A. actinomycetemcomitans, P. gingivalis, T. forsythus, andT. denticolaall showed a decrease in copy number, but there was no significant difference. Conclusions: This study showed professional periodontal prevention management had some effect on periodontal bacterial reduction.

Objectives: The accurate measurement of geographic patterns of health care utilization is a prerequisite for the study of geographic variations in health care utilization. While several measures have been developed to measure how accurately geographic units reflect the health care utilization patterns of residents, they have been only applied to hospitalization and need further evaluation. This study aimed to evaluate geographic indices describing health care utilization. Methods: We measured the utilization rate and four health care utilization indices (localization index, outflow index, inflow index, and net patient flow) for eight major procedures (coronary artery bypass graft surgery, percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty, surgery after hip fracture, knee replacement surgery, caesarean sections, hysterectomy, computed tomography scans, and magnetic resonance imaging scans) according to three levels of geographic units in Korea. Data were obtained from the National Health Insurance database in Korea. We evaluated the associations among the health care utilization indices and the utilization rates. Results: In higher-level geographic units, the localization index tended to be high, while the inflow index and outflow index were lower. The indices showed different patterns depending on the procedure. A strong negative correlation between the localization index and the outflow index was observed for all procedures. Net patient flow showed a moderate positive correlation with the localization index and the inflow index. Conclusions: Health care utilization indices can be used as a proxy to describe the utilization pattern of a procedure in a geographic unit.

The purpose of this thesis is to search for appropriate design elements to manage ponds on golf courses. This paper showed that a variable, width, and volume have significant influence on satisfaction(Sig 0.001). This research investgated golf courses in Kyung-ki province. In short, we measured the physical design elements of ponds to bring out major factors which could determine satisfaction of golf courses for golfcourse manager(greenkeeper). The results between satisfaction and physical variable came out as follows; 1, Golfcourse managers(Green keepers) responded to questions that they were satisfied in only 29.9% of the ponds. We found that they considered management very highly. we could evaluated the value of necessity and importance are high, that is importance to manage ponds 2. Some physical design elements(volume, width) increased dependent variable(satisfaction) and others(length, area, circumference, index of shape) decreased dependent variable(satisfaction) 3. Volume has an influence on dependent variable more than depth on index of shape. 4 If the result of \`index of shape\` decreased, the result of \`management satisfaction\` would be high, and when volume is 8500ton∼17000ton, depth is 27m∼3.1m, \`management satisfaction\` would be high. The research findings can be used for planning and designing of golfcourses for designers, and by management for greenkeepers, and will provide pertinent design elements far design of golfcourses. We suggest that the interrelation between ponds and strategic play must be examined in future research.
