  • These days, corporate risk management has become a major concern in the corporate world. Companies in the global environment are exposed to diverse kinds of risks that are affecting the decisions of investors and other stakeholders. Therefore, companies are expected to not only identify and manage risks but also voluntarily report the same to the stakeholders. Increasingly, standard setters and regulators are requiring firms to disclose such information. On the contrary, there also exists a perception that risk reporting can create a negative impression among the stakeholders about the future of the company. In line with such growing dilemma for risk disclosures, the issue of corporate risk reporting (CRR) has been receiving immense emphasis from the accounting academicians. The main objective of this article is to conduct a comprehensive literature review on corporate risk disclosures. In order to fulfill this objective, at first, a summary of the relevant available literature is presented to identify the current regulations on risk reporting, existing trends of CRR research and theories applied in research. Then, through analysis, several research avenues are identified. It is expected that if these dimensions are explored by the future researchers, a better and broader understanding of the risk reporting practices can be achieved.

  • This Paper document that managers' cash compensation is more sensitive to negative stock return than positive stock return. Also, this paper analyse that managers' cash compensation react symmetrically to accounting earnings and losses. Since stock returns include both unrealized gains and unrealized losses, we expect managers' cash compensation to be less sensitive to stock returns when returns contain unrealized gains(positive returns) than when returns contain unrealized losses(negative returns). But accounting earnings exclude unrealized gains and include unrealized losses, so managers' cash compensation will react symmetrically to accounting earnings and losses. Analyzing 5,815 firm-year data for 2000-2011, we find that managers' cash compensation reacts asymmetrically to stock retruns whereas managers' cash compensation reacts symmetrically to accounting performance. This finding is consistent with boards of directors seeking to mitigate ex post settling up problem that would arise of managers' cash compensation was equally sensitive to positive and negative stock return.

The current study aims to investigate the impact of ownership structure on listed companies on the Tehran Stock Exchange. Results - Based on the return on assets index, only the correlation between the proportion of ownership of the managing director and financial investment company ownership is significant. Conclusion -Managers can potentially make decisions that benefit themselves but are detrimental to shareholders' interests. Corporate governance is a factor that can mitigate agency costs. • We examine evidence on the relationship between firms that targeted by the Financial Supervisory Service for allegedly manipulating annual earnings and accounting quality measured by the discretionary accruals, an issue with important public policy implications. The main purpose of this paper is to empirically investigate the extent to which Korean WDS(Window Dressing Settlement) firms identified by the financial supervisory service in their audit review exhibit higher level of accounting quality in order to avoid any potential negative effects and to regain public confidence after audit review. In this study, we analyzed 51 WDS firms and 102 control firms which traded in the Korean Stock Exchange market during the period from 2000 to the 2010. The number of observations subject to various tests are 251 and 502 firm-years for WDS and control samples respectively across the 5 year sample period. The results of the study show that the accounting quality after auditor review be significantly improved. This result suggests that the FSS's audit review system would control the accounting quality and then improve the transparency of the accounting information. Thus it may be suggested that the current audit review system is efficient ways to lead listed firms to provide transparent financial statements.
