The clinical data and thermographic imaging were analyzed on the 38 cases of Bell's palsy who were treated admission in the Oriental Medicine Hospital of Wonkwang University from January 2002 to May 2003. 38 patients with Bell's palsy were within one week after the onset of the paralysis, and thermal type in the DITI were hypo or hyper generally. Nerve conduction test(ENOG and EMG) examined in two weeks after onset. We studied interaction effect between thermal type and paralysis grade on admission day. We studied each main effect ; paralysis grade on admission day - nerve conduction test, nerve conduction test - thermal type, thermal type - paralysis grade after 4 weeks, paralysis grade on admission day - paralysis grade after 4 weeks, sasang constitution - nerve conduction test. The following results were obtained that interaction effect between thermal type and paralysis grade on admission day showed no significance, each main effect ; paralysis grade on admission day - nerve conduction test, paralysis grade on admission day - paralysis grade after 4 weeks, showed significance, each main effect ; nerve conduction test - thermal type, thermal type - paralysis grade after 4 weeks, sasang constitution - nerve conduction test, showed no significance.

Objective: To derive information on the efficacy of Sam-chul-kun-bi-tang (SKT), by evaluating its anti-inflammatory effect. SKT is a widely-used herbal formula in traditional Korean medicine. In man y studies, plant-derived anti-inflammatory efficacies have been investigated for their potential inhibitory effects on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated macrophages. This study was performed to examine the anti-inflammatory effects of SKT extract on LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. Methods: The production of nitric oxide (NO), prostaglandin $(PG)E_2$, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-$\alpha$ and interleukin (IL)-6 were examined in a macrophage cell line, RAW 264.7 cells, in the presence of SKT. RAW 264.7 cells were incubated with LPS 1 ${\mu}g/mL$ and SKT for 18 hrs. The anti-inflammatory activity of SKT was investigated by carrageenan-induced paw edema in rats. The paw volume was measured at 2 and 4 hrs following carrageenan-induced paw edema in rats. Results: SKT showed inhibitory effect on $PGE_2$, TNF-$\alpha$ and IL-6 in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. But SKT was not inhibitory effect on NO by LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. Administration of SKT (1 g/kg) also showed a reduction in carrageenan-induced paw edema on rats. Conclusion: These results suggest that SKT has anti-inflammatory activities in both in vitro and in vivo models.

When small cogenerators are operated in connected with power system, there are many positive aspects such as the reduction of power plant construction, making a improvement of power security etc. At the same time, there are some negative effects or difficulties such as we should make sure of protective coordination, especially, Actually these are not fault, but it is likely to consider the current as the fault. This is one of major causes of malfunctions for protective relays in power distribution system which is including interconnection point. Thus, in this paper, We showed that the directional protection is necessary to the dispersed generation system which is including connection point. We also executed contingency analysis to find out the magnitude of fault current and direction which are classified by fault points, length of line and kinds of faults using ETAP power system analysis program.

The WHO separates odontogenic carcinomas into three groups : malignant ameloblastoma, primary intraosseous carcinoma(PIOC), and carcinomas arising from odontogenic epithelium including those arising from odontogenic cysts. In WHO criteria, primary intraosseous carcinoma is defined as a squamous cell carcinoma arising within the jaw, having no connection with the oral mucosa, and no developing from residues of odontogenic epithelium. This is a case of 52-year old man who had prolonged jaw pain and final diagnosis was primary intraosseous carcinoma(PIOC) on mandible. We obtained successful result after composite resection combined with hemimandibulectomy, RND, following reconstruction with latissmus dorsi myocutaneous flap, and postoperative radiation therapy.

This paper presents study of effects of cutting parameters such as cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut on the surface roughness in hard turning. Taguchi Method and linear regression model of design parameters were utilized to identify the controlling process parameters that can monitor the surface roughness in the hard turning operation. In the process optimization, experimental planning was performed using the orthogonal array and concept of the signal-to-noise ratio. Cutting parameters such as speed, feed rate, and depth of cut were selected as process parameters and the ANOVA analysis showed that feed rate and cutting speed had more effect on the roughness variation that depth of cut.

지금까지의 컴퓨터 그래픽스의 방향은 사진과 유사하게 표현하는 Photorealism이 강세였으나, 최근 각종 기술문서나 의학, 교육등 많은 분야에서 사진과 같은 컴퓨터 그래픽스보다는 사물의 특징을 강조하고, 불필요한 부분을 생략해서 표현하는 비사실적 렌더링(Non-Photorealistic Rendering)분야가 새롭게 떠오르고 있다. 비실사기법을 통해 생성된 이미지는 사물의 특징을 부각시켜 시현함으로서 사진과 같은 사실적인 묘사보다는 사물의 특징을 통한 의미전달에 초점을 둔 렌더링 기법이라 할 수 있다. 비실사기법에는 수채화, 수묵화, 유화, 목탄화, 데생과 같은 미술기법과 만화와 같이 표현하는 Cartoon Rendering등 다양한 분야가 있지만 본 논문에서는 모든 그림의 기본 요소가 되는 정을 이용하여 사물을 표현하는 점묘법을 적용한 비실사기법에 대해서 이미 발표된 논문을 살펴보고, 새로운 기법을 제안하고자 한다.

Few recent reports have indicated that Mycobacterium massiliense causes various infections including respiratory infection. However, there is scarce information on the clinical significance, natural history of the infection, and therapeutic strategy. This report describes a case of an immunocompetent old man infected by M. massiliense that causes acute respiratory failure. In light of the general courses of non-tuberculous mycobacterium infections, rapid progression and fatality are very rare and odd. In addition, we discuss the biological and pathological properties of M. massiliense with the review of cases reported previously including our fatal one.

Inherently safe plants are maintained through the systematic identification of potential hazards, and various hazard evaluation methods have been developed. Recently, much effort is given into the development of automated hazard evaluation system by introducing the expert system. An automated system will help to obtain consistency and to make the result more reliable. HAZOP study is one of the most systematic and logical evaluation procedure. However, it has disadvantages: experts should participate at the same time, the detailed study requires much man-hour, and the results depend on the expertise of the experts. Therefore, the automation of hazard evaluation is necessary to reduce the required time and to get the consistent evaluation results. In this study, HAxSYM, an expert system to automate HAZOP study, is developed. The case studies are performed to validate the effectiveness of the developed system, and the results are compared to the results of traditional method.

The report of the Korean National Statistics Office shows that Korea has been emerging as an elderly society rapidly, and it will burden the Korean society with excessive social welfare cost for the aged in the near future. If we can help the aged to live healthy in some ways, the social burden for the health care of the aged will be lessened. In order to help physical and mental health of the elderly person, we have developed an exercise apparatus called intelligent arm wrestling machine system. This paper presents the mechanism and scenario of the proposed intelligent arm wrestling machine system. The proposed mechanism and scenario are peculiar. In particular, the proposed scenario determines randomly who will win between the man and the robot and generates a game process that the arm-wrestler cannot predict in advance.

In this paper, new measurement and analysis system for the durability test is introduced. Not like previous development cases, newly developed system can process both primary and secondary signals effectively to enhance the analysis performance. Developed system can be easily adopted to the industrial fields with little modifications. Compared to the commercial products, the system showed satisfactory performances.
