The six fabliaux of the Canterbury Tales are a notable artistic achievement. Of all of them, however, the Merchant's Tale is the most notable to show Chaucer's development of the scope of this genre. We will look briefly at the characters of the fabliau narrators who are crucial to Chaucer's drama of relationships in the course of the Canterbury pilgrimage framework. To distinguish the accomplishment of the Merchant's Tale, we will consider the relative merits of each of the other five fabliaux in the Canterbury Tales. The least flawed of the fabliau narrators, the Merchant will tell a powerful tale about an old man's lust turned into a hasty marriage gone wrong that aims its satire at the noble ruling class of the land, not the usual targets of Chaucer's or most other writers' fabliaux. Further, unlike the light-hearted and dismissable endings of the other Chaucerian fabliaux, the Merchant's Tale has what we will call an Act 6 of continued deception at all corners of the love triangle represented by the senex amans January, his young wife May, perhaps now pregnant after her tryst with Damyan in the pear tree, and the still present young lover Damyan. This triangle of mutual deception will continue into the unknown future under the male and female forces at odds as personified in the king and queen of fairies, Pluto and Proserpina.

본 연구에서는 현대 사회의 변화로 주목받고 있는 남성의 선호 이미지와 가치를 규명하고 미디어에 등장하는 인물을 통해 남성 메이크업이 현대 사회문화적 가치를 어떻게 충족시키고 있는지 알아보고자 한다. 연구 방법으로는 우선 문헌 자료와 인터넷을 중심으로 남성의 선호 이미지와 사회문화적 가치를 고찰하였다. 다음으로, 디자인 요소를 중심으로 미디어에 등장한 인물을 통해 남성 메이크업 사례를 비교 분석하였다. 첫째, 실용적 가치는 목적 지향적인 행동을 위한 합리적 사용의 기술적, 도구적 가치이다. 실용적 가치를 강조한 메이크업은 밝고 내추럴한 피부 표현, 최대한 자제된 색조의 연출, 진한 아이브로우 색상의 사용으로 표현되었다. 둘째, 미적 가치는 순수한 미적 가치만을 추구하는 표현적, 장식적 가치이다. 셋째, 상징적 가치는 역사와 사회에서 체험되는 의지적, 의도적 가치이다. 이는 남성들의 구매행동 동기를 설명하는데 있어 중요한 기준이 되는 선호 이미지를 이해하고 이미지 관리 형태에 대한 분석과 향후 남성들의 뷰티 트렌드를 유추하는데 실질적인 기초 자료로 활용 될 수 있으리라 사료된다.

Recently, the high blood pressure is appeared the most frequent disease of a man's the whole sickness. But, to treat this disease is uncertain and produces an adverse reaction of a medicine therapy. Also, a patients are burden high price for doctor's treatment. Therefore, we studied effectively and financially to execute the treatment of the high blood pressure using the Chinese Medicine Theorem that recently arousing a great interest of the people. The main theories of this paper are Blood Vessel Theory and Acupuncture. The composed circuits are low-frequency generating circuit, charging-discharging circuit. The former will substitute a needle that use in the acupuncture therapy method and the latter will charge and discharge the bioelectric action potential of a patient in Ear Acupuncture Point. Also, all circuits will be controlled a micro-computer circuit.

A man model is a useful design tool for the evaluation of man machine systems and products. An arm reach trajectory prediction for such a model will be specifically useful to present human activities and, consequently, could increase the accuracy and reality of the evaluation. In this study, a three-dimensional reach trajectory prediction model was developed using an inverse kinematics technique. The upper body was modeled as a four link open kinematic chain with seven degrees of freedom. The Resolved Motion Method used for the robot kinematics problem was used to predict the joint movements. The cost function of the perceived discomfort developed using the central composite design was also used as a performance function. This model predicts the posture by moving the joints to minimize the discomfort on the constraint of the end effector velocity directed to a target point. The results of the pairwise t-test showed that all the joint coordinates except the shoulder joint's showed statistically no differences at .alpha. = 0.01. The reach trajectory prediction model developed in this study was found to accurately simulate human arm reach trajectory and the model will help understand the human arm reach movement.

This study aimed to analyze man's hair style preference and lifestyle-related. A survey was made on 384 men aged 20 to 39 living in Seoul, Geonggi. Analysis of lifestyle showed that there were the most men preferring aesthetic sense-oriented lifestyles. They had a high preference for an western type face, middle length of hair, non-wave hair style in the all group by lifestyle. The long hair and wave hair style were more preferred by the fashion-oriented than the others. The plans by this study were as follows. Firstly, it is necessary to develop the hair style which complements into the western type face and the hair style by the length of growing hair. In addition, the internetmarketing by manly internet information-oriented group will be a help to marketing strategies.

Dirofilaria immitis (D. immitis)는 개의 심폐사상충증을 일으키는 선형사상충이다. 이 기생충에 감염된 개는 감염 후기 단계에서 하나 이상의 증상과 혈관 주위의 염증을 동반한 심화된 심장 질환을 보인다. 감염 초기단계에 특이적이고 효율적으로 D. immitis를 검출하기 위해서, 선행연구에서 밝혀낸 D. immitis의 cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI)와 개의 glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH)를 검출하는 특이적인 프라이머와 프로브를 이용하여 이중 TaqMan qPCR 방법을 개발했다. 양성 대조군인 플라스미드 유전자는 TA-cloning vector와 D. immitis의 COI나 개의 GAPDH로 구성되었다. 단일과 이중 TaqMan qPCR 방법은 특이적인 프라이머와 프로브, 그리고 게놈 유전자나 플라스미드 유전자로 수행했다. 프라이머의 농도를 최적한 후, 본 연구에서 개발한 이중 반응은 D. immitis의 COI와 개의 GAPDH를 동일 시료에서 동시에 검출했다. 검출 한계는 단일과 이중 방법 모두 25 copies였고, 두 방법 모두 좋은 선형성과 높은 민감도, 그리고 우수한 PCR 효율을 보여주었다. 병원체를 검출하기 위한 이중 방법은 단일 방법에 비해 비용과 노동력, 시간이 적게 든다. 따라서 이중 TaqMan qPCR 방법의 개발은 많은 수의 시료로부터 동시에 효율적으로 D. immitis 검출과 정량이 가능하게 할 것이다.

Fashion designs reflect the trend of the times embedded within the cultural structures of eastern and western civilizations as well as the traditional styles. However, the motives in fashion designs fundamentally come from human beings' willingness for creation through deep understand of nature or using symbolism and artificial esthetic appreciation. Mankind has expressed their willingness for creation through speculation not with the attitude of conquering nature but by acknowledging the flow between their lives and nature. The purpose of this paper is to investigate human beings' transcendental and embracing attitude toward the natural environment and the human environment in fashion design. In natural environment factors, sublimity toward nature's marvelous powers and the transcending state of mind within happiness and delight or the extreme fear or unavoidable coerciveness and the consequential daunting feelings and smallness, and sorrow all stimulate the will of mental speculation and cause a transcending sublimity. A sublime state of mind does not exist in a superficial framework of enjoyment. It is rather an act of transcendence and embracement residing in a sublime object and leading man's spirit into a state of philosophical thought. Also, in man-made Environment factors, we found from magnanimity we were ability to see the true nature of an era's culture.

A big difference is seen in the perception of self-responsibility concerning safety, as a result of my survey on the safety measures taken in the pipeline construction at workers level between Japan and Indonesia. Specifically, when an accident occurs, a worker in Indonesia will think that the responsibility depends on the person who causes it. However a worker in Japan will think that safety is can only be protected by law and regulations. There is also another difference in the understanding of construction period. It is alright in Indonesia to take 5 times longer period than it takes in Japan if the cost is less. The idea of punctual delivery is very strong in Japan. Through this survey, points which construction industry in Japan could learn from Indonesia came to surface. In addition, over the recent years, several nasty accidents at Japanese sites were caused due to human error to disregard the law. Japanese should arouse the awareness of self-responsibility in this regard. Risk management should be upon self-recognition of each individual worker in both countries. What is important is the "work attitude education", "to grow sense of self-responsibility by thinking on one's own for one's self" in the education curriculum of man to man learning as in technical educational program.

John Glenn, America's first man to eat anything in the near-weightless environment of Earth orbit, found the task of eating fairly easy. With improved packaging came improved food quality and menus. By the time of the Apollo Program, the quality and variety of food increased even further. Apollo astronauts were the first to have hot water, which made rehydrating foods easier and improved the food's taste. Thermostabilized pouches were also introduced on Apollo. The task of eating in space got a big boost in Skylab. It also had a food freezer and refrigerator a convenience offered by no other vehicle before or since. Two different food systems will be used for future long-duration missions to other planets, one for traveling to and from the distant body and one for use on the surface of the moon or Mars. The transit food system will be similar to the space station food system with the exception that products with three-to five-year shelf lives will be needed. Thus, this part of the trip will be similar to what occurs aboard space missions now. The surface food system, be it lunar or planetary, will be quite different. It will be similar to a vegetarian diet that someone could cook on Earth. Once crew members arrive on the surface and establish living quarters, they can start growing crops. Once the crops are processed into edible ingredients, cooking will be done in the spacecraft's galley to make the food items. Disposal of used food packaging will be an issue since there will be no Progress vehicles to send off and incinerate into the Earth's atmosphere. Packaging materials will be used that have less mass but sufficient barrier properties for oxygen and water to maintain shelf life as those now in use.

Our country already came into the aging society in 2000, and it will reach the ultimate aging society in 2026. Also it is necessary the architectural proposal to serve the aging society problem. Recently days, it is increased that the aged welfare facilities, and the concern of aged welfare facilities. This study, approaching the charged aged man welfare facilities suggested as an alternative about the increase of aged man and the aged man problem in architectural and environmental aspect, investigated about the overall environment from the establishment of the charged welfare facilities to indoor space on the basis of the satisfaction degree and requiring condition of users through the estimation after residing. Thus this study is purposed to insist importance about analysis the aged welfare facilities and dwelling conscious.
