  • Purpose: This study was designed to develop and evaluate the a web-based simulation program on patient rights education using integrated decision making model into values clarification for nurse students. Methods: The program was designed based on the Aless & Trollip model and Ford, Trygstad-Durland & Nelms's decision model. Focus groups interviews, surveys on learning needs for patient rights, and specialist interviews were used to develop for simulation scenarios and decision making modules. The simulation program was evaluated between May, 2011 and April, 2012 by 30 student nurses using an application of the web-based program evaluation tools by Chung. Results: Simulation content was composed of two scenarios on patient rights: the rights of patients with HIV and the rights of psychiatric patients. It was composed of two decision making modules which were established for value clarifications, behavioral objective formations, problems identifications, option generations, alternatives analysis, and decision evaluations. The simulation program was composed of screens for teacher and learner. The program was positively evaluated with a mean score of $3.14{\pm}0.33$. Conclusion: These study results make an important contribution to the application of educational simulation programs for nurse students' behavior and their decision making ability in protecting the patient rights.

On the basis of the test of verbal-spatial from NASSP, the subjects were classified to visual-, visual verbal-, verbal preference groups. After this methods had been applied, students of both groups took tests of creativity and science achievement. The results of this study were as follows: 1. In order to investigate the effects of visual note making on creativity and science achievement of the students, students' creativity and science achievement were analyzed by t-test. The experimental group showed significantly higher scores on both of creativity and science achievement than control group. 2. Visual preference group showed significantly higher score on creativity than visualㆍverbal-, and verbal preference group (p<.01), but not significant on science achievement. • This study sought to investigate the presence and characteristics of postulated variables(involvement & empathy) that may moderate the need for overt conflict - resolving behavior when husbands and wives disagree on a certain purchasing subdecision and that may explain husband - wife decision - making patterns. For the above purpose, the analyses of this study are based on response of 180 husbands and wives(90 couples) to questions concerning 11 subdecisions of house and sofa-set purchasing decisions. The results are summarized as follows; 1) Income, education, and wives job do not significantly differenciate the levels of involvement and empathy except that education does the levels of wives involvement and empathy and that wives job does the levels of husbands involvement. 2) Husbands and wives indicate significantly different levels of involvement and empathy on most subdecisions. i. e., wives regard all subdecisions importantly. and on 3 subdecisions of joint decision - making pattern, they have the higher consideration for their husband's preferences. 3) Incongruency in husband - wife responses to the questions of decision - making patterns are moderate. 4) Husbands and wives involvement / empathy discriminate well the patterns of decision - making on various subdecisions within 2 product classes. Wives empathy accounts for much discriminating power in both instances. Thus, the need to add these involvement and empathy variables to models of family decision - making is sugguested.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate factors influencing career preparation behavior among male nursing students in South Korea. Methods: Data were collected from May 25 to June 17, 2018 and a total of 158 male nursing students participated in this study. Career decision making self-efficacy, military duty planning, and career preparation behavior were measured using a structured questionnaire. Collected data were analyzed with SPSS 25.0 for windows. Results: There was a statistically significant difference in career preparation behavior of participants according to entrance motivation and desired career after graduation. There were statistically significant correlations between career decision making self-efficacy and career preparation behavior (r=.65, p<.001), and between military duty planning and career preparation behavior (r=.45, p<.001). The influential factors for career preparation behavior were career decision making self-efficacy (${\beta}=.64$, p<.001), and military duty planning (${\beta}=.42$, p<.001). These factors accounted for 42% of the variance in career preparation behavior. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that to improve career preparation behavior for male nursing students, it is necessary to enhance career decision making self-efficacy and military duty planning.

  • Community-based design is also becoming important in Korea recently. However, the existing design methods of the "conformity" method had the problem of excluding the participation of residents. Therefore, the "decision-making" method, in which residents participate in the design themselves, is drawing attention. Development of specific methods is important for residents to actively participate in "decision making." The theory of "Design Games" has long been studied as a method of community-based design in many countries. The old downtown areas of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province are increasing in number of buildings abandoned due to aging and declining. Abandoned buildings are causing many social problems. A decision-making method has been developed in Jeju for the regeneration design of abandoned buildings. This study conducted a design workshop involving residents on abandoned buildings in the old city center of Jeju City. The possibility and task of decision-making method were analyzed. As a result, participating residents were actively involved in decision-making. It also helped residents understand and learn about the attractions of the neighborhood. Meanwhile, there were also difficulties in communicating among some participants. This is a structural problem with this method. Studies have also shown that it is important for residents themselves to try to understand the neighborhood.

  • Purpose: Increasing competition in the higher education sector has prompted universities to enhance their marketing efforts and understand their potential customers. The study aims to explore how information sources are used and changed among prospective Vietnamese students during the decision-making process. Research Design, Data, and Methodology: This study undertakes a longitudinal study involving multiple rounds of data collection to better understand the decision-making process of prospective students. Data was collected from 12th -grade students in Vietnam through two rounds of quantitative surveys with 251 students and one round of qualitative interviews, spanning the duration of their senior year. The three stages of the decision-making process correspond to the three stages of pre-purchase period. Results: Most students decide that attending open days, taking career assessments, and looking up information online are the most important information sources to consider. The WOM sources are more important in the early stages, while university-generated sources and events are important in the later stages. Conclusion: Implications from this study may contribute to the design of more effective marketing communications campaigns as university marketers gain a better understanding of the distribution of information sources utilized for each specific stage of the decision-making process.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate students decision-making progress through ill-structured problem solving process. For this study, 25 fifth graders in an elementary school were observed by applying ABCDE model (Analyze - Browse - Create - Decision making - Evaluate), and analyzed their decision-making progress analyzing framework which follows 3 steps - making their own decision, discussing/revising with peers, and lastly decision making/solving problem. Upper two groups with better performance in ill-structured problem solving model among 6 groups showed active discussion in group and decision making process with 3 steps (making their own decision, discussing/revising with peers). Even though their decisions are not good-fit to mathematical reasoning result, development and application of ill-structured problems would bring better ability of high level thinking and problem solving to students.
