인과지도로 본 한국의 성장의 한계: 인구, 경제, 자원, 환경, 식량 위기요인을 중심으로 (Korea's Limit to Growth from Circular Causation Perspective: Focusing on Crisis Factors, Population, Economy, Resources, Environment, and Food)

  • The paper examines dynamic relationship among 'Limit to Growth' factors in Korea using causal loop diagram. It also aims to explore policy implications for Korea in overcoming current difficulties and future crisis we may face. For this purpose, five factors -economy, population, resource, environment, food- used in the were adopted as an analytical framework. Findings show that Korea is fragile to external shock such as world economic crisis, food price surge, and resource price -including energy price- hike. High dependency of energy, food and resource on foreign market was found to be a major source of limit to growth in Korea. Furthermore, environmental problems like global warming could be a major external shock that could hit Korea harder than the rest of the world. Policy implications and measures for these problems were discussed too.

A Study on Productivity Factors of Chinese Container Terminals

  • The container port industry has been variously studied by many researchers, because the contemporary container transportation and container port industries play a pivotal role in globalization of the world economy. For container terminals, the productivity, affected by many factors, is an important target in measuring container terminal performance. Under this background, finding the critical factors affecting the productivity is necessary. Regression analysis can be used to identify which independent variables are related to the dependent variable, and explore the relationships of them. The aim of paper is to evaluate the factors affecting the productivity of Chinese major terminals by using a regression statistical analysis modeling approach, which is to establish the variable preprocessing model (VPM) and regression analysis model (RAM), by means of collecting the major Chinese container terminals data in the year of 2008.

Effects of Personality and Coping Strategies on the Work Motivation of Nurses

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the factors that motivate nurses. Data were collected from 373 nurses employed at 4 general hospitals located in Seoul, Korea. Nine research instruments were used in the formulation of a questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS 18.0. The mean score of motivation was 3.49. The major influential background factors for motivation among the hospital nurses were growth needs (${\beta}=0.31$, p<0.001), auto-suggesting strategies (${\beta}=0.20$, p<0.001), optimism (${\beta}=0.18$, p<0.001), problem solving and cognitive restructuring strategies (${\beta}=0.11$, p=0.035), extroversion (${\beta}=0.10$, p=0.027), and support-seeking strategies (${\beta}=0.09$, p=0.036). These factors accounted for 40% of the motivation for nurses. Identifying the major factors would therefore serve as predictors to motivate nurses, and we further discuss how these findings might benefit an employer.

  • Construction delays occur frequently in outrigger framework of tall buildings due to the unexpected conditions and lack of experience. However, delay factors of the outrigger framework has not been managed efficiently. Therefore, the systematic management is needed by perceiving possible delay factors before constructing management system. In this study, the major delay factors of outrigger framework are conducted to derive by using the Importance Performance Analysis(IPA). It is expected that the results of this study are utilized for planning of systematic scheduling in outrigger framework of tall building.

Distribution of Six Major Factors Enhancing Organizational Effectiveness

  • Purpose: Achieving organizational effectiveness is the ultimate goal that every business entity or institution targets. To achieve this, organizations need to consider various factors that have an impact on their performance. This article analyzes the distribution influence of six main elements that have a central role in shaping sustainable organizational effectiveness, which are organizational culture, job satisfaction, interpersonal communication, talent management, knowledge management, and information technology. Research Design Data and Methodology: This research uses a quantitative approach, focusing on manufacturing companies located in Surabaya as the main object, involving twenty manufacturing companies as research targets, and 10 employees in each company. The sample selection process was carried out through the application of random sampling techniques. The analysis in this research uses the multiple linear regression method and uses SPSS version 26 software. Results: Distribution of six major factors used in this research are related to each other and contribute significantly to overall organizational effectiveness. Conclusion: Organizations that can combine the distribution of a positive culture, prioritize employee satisfaction, encourage effective communication, manage talent and knowledge efficiently, and utilize information technology wisely will have greater potential to achieve their goals and survive in the intensely competitive business environment.

  • 정신장애 질병과 관련된 위험인자를 찾는 것은 매우 중요한 일이다. 또한 질병과 관련된 위험인자들의 연관성을 나타내는 위험비는 의학에서 주된 관심이 된다. 따라서 우리는 정신장애 질병과 위험인자 간의 연관성을 살펴보기 위해 오즈비를 활용한다. 본 논문에서는 베이지안 네트워크를 정신장애질병인 섬망자료에 적용하여 선별된 주요 위험인자들의 오즈비를 찾았다. 특히 선별된 주요 위험인자들이 단일로 존재할 때의 오즈비와 위험인자가 복합적으로 존재할 때의 오즈비를 통하여 섬망에 가장 위험한 영향을 미치는 위험인자를 규명하였다.

패션 기업 근무자들의 직무 스트레스 유발 요인에 관한 질적 연구: 패션제조업체를 중심으로 (A Qualitative Study on Factors Related to Job Stress for Fashion Corporation Employees: Focusing on Fashion Manufacturing Companies)

  • The fashion industry has distinctive characteristics. It is important to understand the specific working environment and unique problems at fashion corporations in order enhance employee efficiency. However, studies on job stress for fashion employees remain limited. This study used qualitative research to examine major job stress factors for fashion company workers. In-depth interviews were conducted on 6 respondents who work in various departments at fashion manufacturing companies. We identified task-related factors and structural factors as the two major job stress factors. Task-related factors consisted of 4 elements (necessity of massive knowledge, overtime outside work, tight schedules, and organizational tasks); structural factors consisted of 3 elements (burden of sales outcome, formal relationships, and anxiety of salary retirement). The results indicated that respondents consistently tried to gain knowledge about the latest trends and field experiences that caused mental and physical exhaustion due to the necessity of working late. Designers and workers in the sales department were constantly evaluated by their sales results compared to other workers that caused high levels of stress. Respondents answered that building relationships was an important factor in the fashion industry and sometimes felt that building formal relationships was more important than the ability to do work.

공기업에서의 BPR 실행 성공요인에 관한 단계적 모형 (The Phased Model of Success Factors in BPR Implementation for Public Corporations)

  • The object of this study is to elicit major success factors along with the phases of implementing the BPR in case of public corporations. To obtain the goal of this research, (1) this study reviews and integrates the major previous BPR studies and shows critical success factors of implementing BPR projects coincided with the characteristics of the public organizations. (2) This study has analyzed and arranged the details of BPR projects of public corporations in South Korea through the literature survey, the questionnaire and the interview. (3) This study classifies 40 critical success factors which were identified in existing studies into ones belonging to 3 phases of BPR projects implementation: Introduction Phase, Execution Phase and Stabilization Phase. (4) This study has tested the relation between critical success factors on each stage of BPR projects implementation and the performance variables. It has proven that there is the statistically significant correlation between the success factors and the performance. The findings of this study are thought not only to be useful as a practical guideline in carrying out BPR project Implementation but also to provide significant basis for constructing the theoretical framework of effective BPR project implementation strategy.

Study on the Satisfaction Factors of College Selection for International Students and Pre-educated Local Education Center Students

  • As the attracting foreign student has become a very important strategy, detailed researches on their college selection and their satisfaction with college life are needed. Especially it is necessary to distinguish ordinary international students and those who take classes in Local Education Centers (LEC) before coming to Korea. The central purpose of this study is to identify how the two types of students differ in their perception of college selection factors and what factors affect their satisfaction with college life. A total of 186 international students participated in the study. It was found that the most important college selection factor of the pre-educated LEC students was 'obtaining academic ability through online classes and transfer of credit hours'. Second, these students reported that the two influential factors for their satisfaction with college life were 'quality of education' and 'cultural experience program'. Third, it was found that the major college selection factors influencing ordinary international students' college life satisfaction were 'expertise of faculty', 'transfer of credit through curriculum links', and 'recommendation from teachers at home country'. Fourth, the major factors affecting the pre-educated LEC students' satisfaction with college life were 'KSL classes at LE's', 'expertise of faculty', and 'financial aid system'.

치위생 전공 학생의 문제해결능력과 비판적사고가 전공만족도에 미치는 영향 -비판적사고의 매개효과를 중심으로- (The Influence of Problem-solving ability and Critical thinking on the Major Satisfaction of Dental Hygiene Student -Focused on Mediating Effects of Critical Thinking-)

  • 본 연구는 치위생을 전공하는 학생들의 문제해결능력과 비판적사고 및 전공만족도 수준과 관련성을 파악하고 전공만족도에 문제해결능력과 비판적사고가 매개하여 미치는 영향을 파악하고자 시행하였다. 연구대상은 경상남북도에 위치한 치위생을 전공하는 259명을 대상으로 구조화된 설문지를 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 분석결과 연구대상자의 문제해결능력은 2.56점, 비판적사고는 2.58점이었고, 전공만족도 수준은 2.32점으로 나타났으며, 문제해결능력과 비판적사고 및 전공만족도는 서로 양의 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 문제해결능력의 하부요인 중 해결책수행과 해결방안모색은 전공만족도를 향상시킬 수 있는 유의한 요인이었으며 비판적 사고의 하부요인 중 지적공정성, 지적열정/호기심, 체계성이 전공만족도를 향상시킬 수 있는 유의한 요인으로 나타났다. 또한 비판적사고는 문제해결능력과 전공만족도를 유의하게 매개하였다(β=.2602, BCCI [.0908~.4529]). 본 연구결과를 통해 치위생 교육은 문제해결능력과 비판적 사고를 향상시켜 전공만족도를 높일 수 있는 교육환경 구축과 더불어 교육 프로그램 개발이 필요하며 추후 그 효과를 확인하는 연구가 지속되어야 할 것으로 사료된다.
