A Study of the Core Factors Influencing the Golfer Satisfaction with Golf Courses in Korea (한국골프장의 이용자 만족도 결정 요인에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the correlation between golfer satisfaction and the diverse variables of golf course design and operation from the golfer's point of view. It was intended to reflect the various expectations and desires of golfers regarding golf course design and operation. The study was conducted on 119 golf courses in Korea, and 309 questionnaires were collected and analyzed. Results are summarized as follows. First, the most influential operational service variables on golfer satisfaction were "appearance of the golf courses", followed by "staff service", and "greens fee". Second, the most influential course design and maintenance factor variables on satisfaction were "course maintenance status", "teeing ground characteristics", and "landscape architecture". Third, based on the results shown in these two areas, a linear regression analysis was conducted to synthetically explain "operational service" variables and "course design and maintenance" variables. As a result, it was found that the explanation power of the synthetic model was 36.5%, and a model appropriateness test was found to be positive. As a result of a regression analysis of the synthetic model affecting golfer satisfaction, the most influential factors were "course maintenance status" followed by "landscape architecture", "tee characteristics", and "staff service". Regarding coefficient values, course maintenance status had an influence of 21.8% followed by landscape architecture at 20%, tee characteristics at 17.7%, and staff service at 15.5%. These results were found to be different from preceding studies that emphasized golf course operational service.

Studies on Structural Degradation of Agricultural Reservoirs in Chungbuk Region (충북지역 농업용 저수지의 노후도 조사 연구)

  • Ninety five percent of the agricultural reservoirs were constructed by earth or rock. There are 18,000 agricultural dams and reservoirs in Korea. Therefore, it is easy to evaluate or identify their problems. Reservoirs should be repaired before too late. It is required to guarantee the proper functions of the existing agricultural dams and reservoirs in time to minimize the damage. In this study, in order to evaluate degradation of agricultural reservoir, grasps the safety of reservoir choosing for agriculture of 25 reservoirs which are distributed in Chungbuk region rural and analyzed using possibility as reservoir of agricultural usage. The degradation was evaluated by a compilation of the result where embankment and structure were separately handled, measured and then multiplied scores for each categories. By activating this research, current status of agricultural reservoir and degradation status will be easily measured. In addition, the research could be also used as a tool for an effective control or maintenance.

  • A remote data communication system for monitoring of NC machine fault diagnosis and status is developed. This system communicates with host PC by using dial-up communication method on PSTN. The developed system consists of (1)remote communication module among NC's and host PC using PSTN, (2) 8 channels analog data sensing module, (3) digital I/O module for control of NC machine, (4) communication module between NC machine and remote data communication system using RS-232c, and (5) Software man-machine interface. This system may be applied for remote sensing of the status in Fms. To show the veridity of the developed system, several examples are illustrated.

Current Status and Issues of Green Roof Technology in Korea (한국옥상녹화기술의 현황과 과제)

  • The purpose of the study is to review current status of green roof technology and to suggest the issues and solutions related with the technological problems of green roof in Korea. The scope of the study is limited to the extensive green roof which requires low maintenance. Technological issues related with green roof include soil, water proofing, water drain, vegetation and maintenance. Several solutions to invigorate green roof technology were suggested as follows; 1)implementation of technical standard for green roof and technology certification system, 2) development of suitable raw materials for green roof, 3) construction guidelines and uniform construction specification, 4) formulation of city ordinance for green roof, and 5) exchange program with foreign green roof organizations.

  • The maintenance prices in information security industry between Korean companies and foreign companies have been a big difference. Korea Information Security SW maintenance standards were not adequate for the rate, and there was disagreement between domestic companies and governments. This research, therefore, surveyed a standard of information SW and the status of maintenance payment rates. The study suggests an estimation method and verifies the method and an appropriate maintenance cost rate. According to the results of the study, the current maintenance cost should be increased or decreased independent with a kind of information security systems. Based on the study, Korea government is able to change the maintenance policy in information security. And the domestic companies get a theoretical ground for improving the rates of maintenance costs in information security systems and are able to allot the resources effectively.

  • RCM developed by American air industry in early 1960, its process is most realistic for some physical assets and it permits the system to maintain given function status through decision of demand about optimum maintenance. Therefore, many industries have selected RCM technique and have carried out RCM in order to solve many problems concerning maintenance management. Through the execution of RCM, we can solve actual problems And finally we will be able to develop more and more maintenance activities with RCM notion. In this study, we will consider the application of KTX-RCM which is set up with basic theory of RCM and constructed to improve trainset safety, availability and regularity of KTX, linking with CMMS(Computerized Maintenance Management System).

A Study on the maintenance situation of the deteriorted high-rise apartments (노후 고츨아파트의 유지관리 및 개선실태 조사)

  • The deteriorted high-rise apartments make a social problem in now days. As a result, and new alternative plan for deteriorted high-rise apartments such as the remodeling concept must be considered. This study aims to develop the remodeling items which is the guide lines when remodeling of the apartment will be conducted. Thorough the case studies of maintenance and repair status of the deteriorted apartments in seoul, reasonable guidelines for selection of remodeling items were developed. Physical maintenance items includes those that need major repair activity like wall painting, water proof roof, change/repairs/implement of heating system, boiler, city gas pipelines, cold and hot water pipes, elevators, cleaning of water tanks. The period of repair is shorter than the durable year of law or codes. As a result of the study, basic maintenance items and actual repair period were proposed. This result will be the basic guidelines for remodeling items.

  • Gardens are known to provide relaxation, including psychological stability and mental rest. Recently, social interest in gardens has been growing in various ways, including the increase of groups sensitive to environmental pollution and a rising interest in the overall management of natural resources. In reality, however, the owners of housing gardens lack fundamental knowledge for creating and maintaining the gardens, directly and indirectly. This limitation presents a number of problems and challenges. Therefore, this study conducted an analysis of various aspects relating to the creation and maintenance of housing gardens, reflecting the sense of ownership. The study aimed to examine the current status, and based on this, it was intended to present improvement measures for practical and efficient creation of housing gardens and their maintenance in the future.

  • Usually the status of a bridge is determined by its structural capability and material strength. Consequently a lot of researchers have studied the failure, the fatigue, and the deterioration of the structure in terms of the structural function of a bridge. However, the overall performance of a bridge may be affected simply by the damage of one of its components. Therefore this study utilized a systematic classification and statistical analysis based on the existing bridge inspection data collected in Taiwan to reach the following goals: (1) assess the performance distribution and deterioration rate for bearing and expansion joint of bridge; (2) find out the right time to do the preventive and essential maintenance for the component of bridge with an empirical method, and to decide what time and which component of a bridge will receive preventive maintenance or regular maintenance.
