  • Three-dimensional (3D) video scenes are complex and difficult to control, especially when scene switching occurs. In this paper, we propose two algorithms based on an incremental proportional-integral-derivative (PID) algorithm and a similarity analysis between views to improve the method of bit allocation for multi-view high efficiency video coding (MV-HEVC). Firstly, an incremental PID algorithm is introduced to control the buffer "liquid level" to reduce the negative impact on the target bit allocation of the view layer and frame layer owing to the fluctuation of the buffer "liquid level". Then, using the image similarity between views is used to establish, a bit allocation calculation model for the multi-view video main viewpoint and non-main viewpoint is established. Then, a bit allocation calculation method based on hierarchical B frames is proposed. Experimental simulation results verify that the algorithm ensures a smooth transition of image quality while increasing the coding efficiency, and the PSNR increases by 0.03 to 0.82dB while not significantly increasing the calculation complexity.

  • In this paper, a CSSMA/AI MAC protocol in packet CDMA network is presented. The main features of this protocol are the code status sensing and reservation for reducing the packet collision. The base station broadcasts the code status on a frame-by-frame basis just before the beginning of each preamble transmission, and the mobile station transmits a preamble for reserving a code based on the received code status. After having transmitted the preamble, the mobile station listens to the downlink of the selected code and waits the base station reply. If this reply indicates that the code has been correctly acquired, it continues the packet transmission for the rest of the frame. If there are other packets waiting for transmission, the base station broadcasts the status of the code as reserved, and the mobile station transmits a packet on a reserved code for the successive frames.

  • In the design process of an automobile part, several analysis methods are usually utilized to evaluate the performance of the part. However, most automobile design engineers do not directly utilize CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) tools since specific skills are required to obtain practical results. Moreover, CAE requires a huge amount of computation time and cost. In order to resolve these problems, a new design approach named First Order Analysis (FOA) technique has been proposed. In this paper, the FOA technique is employed to design a vehicle sub-frame. An equivalent model of the vehicle sub-frame which only consists of beam elements is proposed and the modal properties obtained with the model are compared to those obtained with a full scale finite element model. The effect of some parameter tolerances on the modal characteristics of the vehicle sub-frame is investigated by employing the FOA equivalent model.

  • The main objective of this study was to develop and evaluate a model for estimating pigs weight using computer vision for improving the management in Korean swine farms in Korea. This research was carried out in two steps: 1) to find a model that relates the projection area with the weight of a pig; 2) to implement the model in a computer vision system mainly consisted of a monochrome CCD camera, a frame grabber and a computer system for estimating the weight of pigs in a non-contact, real-time manner. The model was developed under an important assumption there were no observable genetic differences among the pigs. The main results were: 1) The relationship between the projection area and the weight of pigs was W = 0.0569 ${\times}$ A - 32.585($R^2$ = 0.953), where W is the weight in kg; A is the projection area of a pig in $\textrm{cm}^2$; 2) The model could estimate the weight of pigs with an error less than 3.5%.

  • In this study the structural design concepts of main parameters of a Cathode Ray Tube(CRT) such as frame spring and shadow mask were proposed to guarantee a failure-proof CRT under mechanical shock. With computer simulation and experiments some information on the structural design concept was obtained as followings: the frame and the shadow mask of the CRT needed designing to increase strength so double-beads shape at the corner of frame was newly designed for it, And the spring which interconnected frame with panel glass was required to deform elastically for the purpose of absorbing the shock energy in the direction of drop. A new type of spring 'twisting spring' was designed to achieve the flexibility in that direction. By using it the deformation energy of a shadow mask could reduced to some degree. To accomplish those simulations commerical codes Pam-Crash and I-DEAS were used and a typical CRT was analyzed as an example to prove the usefulness of this study.

  • In this paper, a new real time video scaling technique which preserved the contents of a movie was proposed. Because in a movie a correlation exists between consecutive frames, in this paper by determining the seam of the current frame considering the seam of the previous frame, it was proposed the real time video scaling technique without the shaking phenomenon of the contents even though the entire video is not analyzed. For this purpose, frames which have similar features in a movie are classified into a scene, and the first frame of a scene is resized by the seam carving at the static images so that it can preserve the contents of the image to the utmost. At this time, the information about the seam extracted to convert the image size is saved, and the sizes of the next frames are controlled with reference to the seam information stored in the previous frame by each frame. The proposed algorithm has the fast processing speed of the extent of being similar to a bilinear method and preserves the main content of an image to the utmost at the same time. Also because the memory usage is remarkably small compared with the existing seam carving method, the proposed algorithm is usable in the mobile terminal in which there are many memory restrictions. Computer simulation results indicate that the proposed technique provides better objective performance and subjective image quality about the real time processing and shaking phenomenon removal and contents conservation than conventional algorithms.

  • In this paper, collecting real-time data frames that occur during RS232 communication between an HMI and PLC of automation equipment by sniffing real-time information data frames through MCU without modification of the HMI or PLC, a method is proposed that allows users to collect data without being dependent on the modification of PLC and HMI systems. The user collects necessary information from the sniffing data through the parsing operation, and the original communication interface is maintained by transmitting the corresponding sniffing frame to the destination. The MCU's UART communication interface circuit is physically designed according to the RS232 communication standard, and this additionally improves efficiency more so than an interrupt-based system by using the DMA device inside the MCU. In addition, the data frame IO operation is performed by logically separating the work of the DMA interrupt service routine from the work of the main thread using the circular queue. Through this method, the user receives the sniffing data frame between the HMI and PLC in RS232 format, and the frame transfer between PLC and HMI arrives normally at the original destination. By sniffing the data frame without further modification of the PLC and HMI, it can be confirmed that it arrives at the user system normally.

  • This paper proposes a new steganography scheme based on frequency domain using various image frames and collages that can protect the copyright of digital contents for users and securely perform to exchange the security information in the digital communication environments. The main idea of our proposed scheme is that the security informations related its copyright embed into the frequency domain of the image frame and collages when a user decorates the original image by using various image frames and collages. The strengths of our proposed scheme are as follows: (1) It allows to freely control the quantity of embedded information by changing the number of image frames and collages. (2) It is secure to variety image distortion attacks. (3) It maintains high PSNR(Peak Signal to Noise Ratio). As a result, the proposed steganography scheme can be used practically diverse multimedia security fields such as digital copyright protect, secure message communication and digital watermarking.
