  • This paper presents Power Control and Distribution Unit development of GEO satellite with 3kW power output. The sensing error of bus voltage produce control signal of the shunt switch assembly and battery power converter, and the tolerance of error signals generated decide the stability of proposed system. The dynamic characteristics of main bus according to the load changing and the control logic of FPGA are simulated. In order to verify the proposed design, the simulation and experimental results for solar array shunt switch, battery power converter and bus controller are shown.

임베디드 시스템 기반의 혈액 투석기 시스템의 개발 (The Development of Hemodialysis System Based on Embedded System)

  • The Hemodialysis system is the device for the patients who have suffered from end stage renal failure as the kidney which removes the waste products in a human body. The existing hemodialysis is based on a 8-bit micro-controller and it is not a touch-screen type but a manual type. This paper is focused on hemodialysis system based on high control and expension embedded system. The whole system consists of main control unit and sub control unit(dialysis control unit, blood control unit, monitoring control unit, networking unit). The dialysis control unit, blood control unit, monitoring control unit are processed by 3 microcontrollers and network unit is for monitoring a renal failure patient's condition. For the evaluation of the system performance, the saline was pured into blood unit and then water removal rate, conductivity and temperature of hemodialysis liquid were measured 10 times in an each state suing the UF pump in the fluid unit varing the quantity of saline to 1000cc, 2000cc, 3000cc and 4000cc. As a result, the rates of water removal are 98.6% in condition of 000cc saline, 96.9% in 2000cc, 98.9% in 3000cc and 98.3% in 4000cc. The conductivities of hemodialysis liquid are 99.6% in the first to third condition and 99.7% in the forth condition. The temperatures of hemodialysis liquid are 99.8% in the first to third condition and 99.6% in th forth condition.

FPGA-based Centralized Controller for Multiple PV Generators Tied to the DC Bus

  • The integration of photovoltaic (PV) energy sources into DC grid has gained considerable attention because of its enhanced conversion efficiency with reduced number of power conversion stages. During the integration process, a local control unit is normally included with every power conversion stage of the PV source to accomplish the process of maximum power point tracking. A centralized monitoring and supervisory control unit is required for monitoring, power management, and protection of the entire system. Therefore, we propose a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) based centralized control unit that integrates all local controllers with the centralized monitoring unit. The main focus of this study is on the process of integrating many local control units into a single central unit. In this paper, we present design and optimization procedures for the hardware implementation of FPGA architecture. Furthermore, we propose a transient analysis and control design methodology with consideration of the nonlinear characteristics of the PV source. Hardware experiment results verify the efficiency of the central control unit and controller design.

다각형 용기의 결함 검사 시스템 개발 (Development of Defect Inspection System for Polygonal Containers)

  • 본 논문에서는 다각형 용기의 결함 검사 시스템 개발을 제안한다. 임베디드 보드는 메인부, 통신부, 입·출력부 등으로 구성된다. 메인부는 주 연산장치로써 임베디드 보드를 구동하는 운영체제가 포팅되어서 외부 통신, 센서 및 제어를 위한 입출력을 제어할 수 있다. 입·출력부는 필드에 설치되어 있는 센서들의 전기적신호를 디지털로 변환하여 메인모듈로 전달하는 역할 및 외부 스텝 모터 제어의 역활을 한다. 통신부는 영상 촬영 카메라 트리거 설정 및 제어 장치의 구동 설정의 역할을 수행한다. 입·출력부는 제어 스위치 및 센서들의 전기적신호를 디지털로 변환하여 메인모듈로 전달하는 역할을 수행한다. 동작 모드 등과 관련한 펄스 입력 등을 받기 위한 입력회로에는 외부 노이즈의 간섭을 최소화하기 위하여 각 입력포트에는 포토커플러를 설계한다. 제안된 다각형 용기의 결함 검사 시스템 개발의 정확성을 객관적으로 평가하기 위하여 다른 머신비전 검사 시스템과 비교를 해야 하지만, 현재 다각형 용기의 머신비전 검사 시스템이 존재하지 않기 때문에 불가능하다. 따라서, 동작 타이밍을 오실로스코프로 측정하여서 Test Time, One Angle Pulse Value, One Pulse Time, Camera Trigger Pulse, BLU 밝기 제어 등과 같은 파형이 정확히 출력됨을 확인하였다.

  • This paper introduces a PC-based image data processing unit that is composed of preprocessor board and main processor board; The preprocessor contains Inmos A110 processor and efficient H/W architecture for fast mask/logic operations at the speed of video signal rate. It is controlled by the main processor which communicates with the host PC. The main processor board contains TI TMS320C31 digital signal processor, and can access the frame memory of the processor for extra S/W tasks. We test 3*3, 5*5 masks and logic operations on 386/486/DSP and compare the result with that of the proposed unit. The result shows ours are extremely faster than conventional CPU based approach, that is, over several hundred times faster than even DSP.

  • VCU(Vehicle Control Unit) was developed to decrease the wire weight and make it easy to control the power of ECU in bimodal tram. VCU consists of CC(Central Computer), DU(Display Unit), TU(Terminal Unit) with PCB. CC is a main controller with progamming and DU displays the status with graphic symbols and letters. TU with PCB inputs and output the voltage controlled by CC. They communicate with CAN(Controller Area Network). VCU had been verified with software reliability verification test and environmental hardware test. This paper has shown the test results and application to bimodal tram.

  • The VAL 208 in Uijeongbu Light Rail system is a light railway vehicle which could be operated in driverless supported by Siemens. It is a Rubber Wheel Type AGT (Automatic Guideway Transit). It will be operated in two car train about 11km of Uijeongbu line. In this paper, the technical overview of the ATC system and the interface between the system and the way side control equipments are presented. It includes the main functions of OBCU(On Board control Unit) and its information sharing method with WCU(Way side control Unit). The testing procedure of OBCU is also discussed.

  • For high voltage DC-DC converters, the parallel operation of several high voltage source modules is necessary to reduce the material cost. In the conventional parallel operation with HDC module control unit, it is difficult to repair the HDC system for the failure of control unit. To overcome these problems, new parallel operating algorithm for high voltage DC-DC converter is presented. The proposed algorithm has no main control unit and each module can be selected as the master according to the operating conditions. Therefore, one of modules can be replaced as the master immediately when the previous master module is failed. In addition, the extension of extra modules can be simple.

  • In this paper, it is to development of brake system with ABS function for aircraft. The test of brake system is required before applying on aircraft. The real-time dynamic simulator with 5-D.O.F. aircraft dynamic model is developed for braking performance test of ABS (Anti-skid Brake System) control h/w with anti-skid brake functions. The dynamic simulator is real-time interface system that is composed of dynamic simulation parts, master control parts, digital and analog in/out interface parts, and user interface parts. The 5-D.O.F. aircraft dynamic model is composed of a big contour and a little contour by simulation s/w. The big contour represents the interactions of forces in airframe, nose and main landing gear, and engines on the center of gravity. The little contour represents interactions of wheel, braking units, hydraulic units and a control unit. ABS control h/w unit with ABS control algorithm is also developed and is tested with simulator under the some conditions of gripping coefficient. We have known that ABS control h/w unit on wet or snowy runway as well as dry runway very well protects wheel skid.
