A STUDY ON DEVELOPMENT OF VLBI CORRELATION SUBSYSTEM TRIAL PRODUCT (VLBI상관서브시스템 시작품의 개발에 관한 연구)

  • We present the performance test results of VLBI Correlation Subsystem (VCS) trial product which was being developed for 1 year from August 2007. It is a core component of Korea-Japan Joint VLBI Correlator (KJJVC). The aim for developing VCS trial product is to improve the performance of VCS main product to reduce the efforts and cost, and to solve the design problems by performing the preliminary test of the manufactured trial product. The function of VCS trial product is that it is able to process the 2 stations-1 baseline, 8 Gbps/station speed, 1.2 Gbps output speed with FX-type. VCS trial product consists of Read Data Control Board (RDC), Fourier Transform Board (FTB), and Correlation and Accumulation Board (CAB). Almost main functions are integrated in the FTB and CAB board. In order to confirm the performance of VCS trial product functions, the spectral analysis, delay compensation and correlation processing experiments were carried out by using simulation and real observation data. We found that the overflow problem of re-quantization after FFT processing was occurred in the delay compensation experiment. We confirmed that this problem was caused by valid bit-expression of the re-quantized data. To solve this problem, the novel method will be applied to VCS main product. The effectiveness of VCS trial product has been verified through the preliminary experimental results, but the overflow problem was occurred.

A study on the on-board centered train control system to enhance efficiency of low-density railway line (철도 저밀도노선 효율성 향상을 위한 차상중심 열차제어시스템 연구)

  • In the low-density branch line section of domestic railway, the necessity for development of new concept on-board centered train control system which can control the trackside equipment directly from the on-board of train is on the rise since it is problematic in the aspect of efficiency because of its operation in deficits, etc. in accordance with the operation of high-priced wayside equipment being applied to main lines. Accordingly, this paper proposed an on-board control system which can minimize wayside equipment and replace the existing system with it simultaneously by grafting the advanced domestic Information & Communication Technology(ICT), and presented contents of performing confirmation of function through results of concept and detailed design and by building model test environments.

  • In this paper, a direct drive scalar robot manipulator is constructed and its mechanical machanism for operation is explained. Also, a motion controller board for the direct drive robot manipulator was developed where the IBM 486 computer is the main controller. For the developed direct drive robot, a force/motion control algorithm based on an active compliance scheme is developed. A preliminary experiment using the developed direct drive for a peg-in-hole job was done by implementing the control algorithm.

  • There are researches are in progress on ensuring the safety of the high impact concrete in cases of fire which is a current rising social problem and this research institute also developed PFB technology, the explosion preventing technology. PFB technology is to apply POSCO E&C Fire Board, a fireproof board, with an adhesive agent on the construction site, and this technology passed 3-hour fireproof test and this technology was proven from a previous research that the temperature of main root is maintained under 200 ℃. Therefore, tests on basic contents to be examined before the actual construction in this research by with a wooden prototype of a full scale to apply PFB technology to actual construction sites and tests are being done on the workability of fireproof board, the adhesive power, the resistance against imprint of wooden nail, the heat conductivity and etc. As the results of those tests, PFB technology was proven to have an excellent workability at a construction site and to be easy for processing and also this technology was proven to have a great the resisting power against imprint of wooden nail, so this research has confirmed that PFB technology has no problem to be applied on a construction site.

  • This paper describes BAUSAT-2 orbital thermal analysis and preliminary design of thermal control subsystem. To design thermal control subsystem of HAUSAT-2, we have considered active & passive thermal control method based on basic theory and themal equilibrium equation. Using this result, suitable thermal control method and material have been selected. We have designed thermal control subsystem based on analysis of HAUSAT-2's thermal environments on sun synchronous orbit with altitude 650km, inclination $98^{\circ}$ and thermal distribution and range expectation of each HAUSAT-2's surface. Thermal analysis consists of system level, box level and board level analysis. We have completed system level and box level analysis. Till now, board level analysis of main heat dissipation board in progress. Thermal control subsystem has designed according to thermal analysis result.   • The active noise cancellation system showing the effective convergence and stability has been studied by simplifying the controller structures using the weighting factors of control error path to the multi-channel filtered-x LMS algorithm which needs a lot of calculations and the performance has been verified experimentally. Besides, to implement the system performance in a vehicle cabin, experimental work for selecting the suitable numbers and positions of the microphones and speakers was accomplished. Effectively combining a TMS 320C 31 main processor conducting real number calculations and having various functions with other components, the purpose-built system board for active noise cancellation has been designed and with this board, car active noise cancellation system showing maximum stable 10dB noise reduction has been obtained at the car idling conditions above 3000rpm range.

  • This study was aimed to establish failure management plan of the rubber-tired AGT light rail vehicle for its safety case, which was developed according to the Korean standardized specifications for the light rail vehicle. Vehicular 9 failure modes anticipated during the system operation were considered, which are single malfunction of redundant equipment, malfunction of train radio, public address and air compressor, battery, main circuit NFB trip, on-board ATO control device malfunction, on-board ATP control device malfunction, fail of brake release, flat tire, train emergency door open.

  • This paper focuses on the analysis and compensation of thrust ripples in permanent magnet linear synchronous motors (PMLSM). The main drawback in PMLSMs is the presence of thrust ripples, which are mainly due to the interaction between the permanent magnets and armature slotted core. These thrust ripples reduce the performance of the drive system in high precision applications especially at low speeds. This paper analyzes thrust ripples using the discrete wavelet transform. These undesired thrust ripples are compensated by using an adaptive feed forward controller. It is observed that this novel controller reduces about 65 percent of the thrust ripples. An extensive simulation is performed through MATLAB and it is validated through experimental results using a d-SPACE system with a DS1104 control board.

  • In aquaculture industrial field, an automatic management and control system is needed to cope with the difficulties such as expensive wage, ripe age of management worker and risk according to the unexpected change of environmental conditions in the aquarium. This paper introduces an automatic aquarium monitoring and control system. The system is developed using PC single board computer. A PC can be connected to multi-single hoard computers, and the communication between PC and single board computers is based on RS-422/485 interfacing method. The physical data of pH, DO, temperature and water level etc. are real-timely treated in the single board computer though individual transducers, transfered to the main monitoring PC through RS-422/485 communication, and those data are graphically shown on the PC monitor. Furthermore, the environmental circumstance can be monitored through the image processing system, and the emergency system can be operated under the condition of environmental incident such as electric power stoppage, DO deficiency, pump shut down and low level water etc.

Field Test and Performance Verification of On-board Oriented Train Control System (차상중심 열차제어시스템의 현장시험을 통한 성능검증)

  • There is an operational efficiency problem about wayside equipment applied to the domestic low-density branch as the equipment has been installed and operated similarly in the mainline. On-board oriented train control system, which has been developed for train safety and operation efficiency, ensures safe train operation without expensive ground control signal devices. Such system consists of on-board control system, wayside control system, and local control system. In this paper, the details of tests such as suitability test, communication test, and interface test are described by installing the on-board control system and wayside control system in field. Installation tests include checking power, voltage, cable connection, LED status, etc. Field applicability of the developed system is also verified through the dynamic operation tests with diverse scenarios, which are performed on the virtual line similar to the real environment including switch machine and level crossing gate. Dynamic operation tests were conducted for total 7 scenarios, and several tests were repeated for each scenario. The elapsed time for each operation was computed by analyzing main process log, and we could check that each operation was accomplished within several seconds. Furthermore, the developed system was verified through field test with an accredited institute, and testing certificates were issued.
