  • Our government has declared the "Synthetic Project for Promoting Han-style" to industrialize and globalize the original form of Korea traditional culture. Han-bok, our traditional folk costume is one of the main subject of this project. However it is the global trend not to wear their traditional folk costume. And so, the number of people wearing Han-bok, our traditional folk costume is also getting gradually decreased in Korea. For Han-style Promoting Project in the future, it is one of the most efficient way for the middle and high school students to motivate and increase the interest about Han-style and Han-bok as the middle and high school uniforms. Adolescent middle and high school students think very important their appearance. Especially, Korean middle and high school students spend a lot of time in school, and so school uniforms are very influential in their mental and physical aspects. Fabrics for this study, they were woven twill with 3 kinds of fabric patterns from the motif of Baekje relics. The colors of fabrics is the blue and brown used in general school uniform, the yellow and red used in Han-bok. Considering the school uniforms, fabric patterns adapted the similar color matching method for not to be found cleary and designed the fabric pattern's one-repeat size is $4{\times}4cm$.

  • The main objective of this study was to investigate the packing state and optical properties of coated paper prepared with different coating colors by varying the blending ratio of such pigment as clay, $CaCO_3$, and plastic pigment. To evaluate the effect of packing state of pigment on the properties of coated paper, the coating thickness, which was theoretically calculated by specific gravity, and packing volume of pigment were used. It was found that there exists close relationship between the coating thickness and surface property of coated paper. For instance, the macro roughness(smoothness) of coated paper is closely related to bulkiness. Plastic pigments used in this research has a high finishing efficiency on the light weight coatings. Especially, hollow sphere pigment was very effective for improving the property of coated paper produced in this test. And when HSP was blended with $CaCO_3$the surface property such as smoothness and gloss improved significantly.

  • Mulching technique is used to control the temperature and moisture content of soil by covering the ground surface. Most kinds of mulching film are made of polyethylene which is non-biodegradable synthetic polymer. Utilizing these films has been one of the main sources in soil pollution. Thus residual films under the ground should be removed after a certain period of time. Therefore, an alternative mulching material made of biodegradable functional paper is considered instead of non-biodegradable films. The mulching sheet produced from paper basis has a functionality to be naturally degraded and then recycled to the bio-materials on soil. In this study, the paper based-mulching sheet coated with biodegradable polymer was specially produced using a laboratory bar coater. Coating colors prepared by dissolving PBS/PLA in chloroform were applied to kraft paper. The mechanical strength and aging properties of this mulching sheet were investigated. The burst strength of polymer-coated paper was decreased with the increase of the PBS ratio in PBS/PLA blends, and, in particular, 30/70 blending condition led to good stability in heat-aging atmosphere for 60 days.

  • This research aims to identify the recent changes in construction, design, and technical vocabularies between North and South Korea of the Korean woman's top(Jeogori), which is a main part of her traditional costume(Hanbok). After Korea War, Korea was divided into two countries(the division), and there was little communication between the two until 1972(the interexchange). Thus, this study will compare two time periods: 1953-1972 and 1972 to recent times. Hanbok construction books published in both Koreas are evaluated here to see what similarities and differences existed during these two periods. Women in the North continued to wear their traditional costume(renamed the Chosunot in the North) as daily clothing, but women in the South began saving the Hanbok only for parties and ceremonies. As the North Korean government controlled its peoples dress and continued to make changes, the North kept developing new technical vocabularies, but the South continued to use the same terms fur the Hanbok. From the end of the 1990s, the Chosunot had become more and more similar to the Hanbok in colors, shapes, and materials.

  • The main purpose of this study is to find the factors affecting the consumer goods buyers' choice on e-commerce sites in Vietnam. By using the quantitative method, the paper examines the theoretical research model and tests four hypotheses. The sample was drawn from the population of e-commerce sites in Vietnam comprising about 1,000 respondents. This study used the questionnaire method to collect primary data to test the hypotheses. Data analysis of the questionnaire was done using SPSS. The results show that there is a correlation between personal preferences of consumers on colors and brands and their actual final choice on e-commerce sites in Vietnam. The most important factor affecting the consumer goods buyers' choice on e-commerce in Vietnam is the brand of E-commerce site, following by the color and position. Among all educational groups, respondents with a Master degree pay the biggest attention to the site's color attribute, and those with a Bachelor degree pay more attention to the brand attribute. Women pay much more attention to the location of the products on the screen than men, as do consumers with a PhD degree, over respondents with a Bachelor or Master degree, and foreigners over Vietnamese consumers.

  • As for the purposes of the research: First, on the wearers of snowboard wear on the market, I intend to investigate contents related with purchase, price, brand, style, etc., and grasp requirements and complaints. Second, I intend to know the evaluations of users according to itemized questions on the snowboard wear on the market. Third, I like to provide basic materials by investigating itemized requirements for the development of snowboard wear. On the male & female snowboarders on a skiing ground, I carried out a preliminary investigation in December, 2001, and a main investigation from January to February, 2002. The results are as follows: 1. Many of them purchased imported quality goods, and the rate purchase was high between 20~25 year. Loose two-piece suits of different colors were preferred. The most uncomfortable part proved to be a neck part. 2. The degree of general satisfaction with the snowboard wear on the market was 4.60. And in terms of itemized evaluation, dissatisfaction was found in Clothing construction, facility of laundry and handling, price and brand rather than in style, fiber composition and tactile sensation. 3. In the investigation of the requirements in case of snowboard wear development, the most common requirement was the facility of action. I believe this should be met by study on the choice of pertinent margin and the pattern development.

  • The french modernist garden of the 1920-30s, significant when studying the history of gardens, has been disregarded in landscape architecture studies. This study aims to review and examine the main characteristics of the French modernist garden in relation to Cubism. In addition this study seeks to recover an unnoticed phase from landscape architecture history and lies in a same thread with studies on the theory of Modernism in landscape architecture. The french modernist garden is closely connected with Cubism, as Cubist garden is a popular synonym for the French modernist garden. used simplified and geometrical forms like Cubist painters. In spacial composition, the French modernist garden offered images of various views in one space, much like the Cubist paintings which showed various aspects of an object simultaneously on the canvas. In the French modernist garden, gorgeous colors and various textures were emphasized, much like the synthetic Cubism. Moreover, in the history of landscape architecture, the state of the French modernist garden which tried to change the traditional gardens into a space more suited to the new life style, is similar to that of Cubism as an art movement in the history of art of the early 20th century.

  • The objective of the study is to understand the characteristics of modernistic spatial design and, based on the understanding, to interpret fashion in terms of its spatial relationship with society, culture and human body, thereby looking into unique spatial characteristics fashion has. The main results of this study include : First, the rational space emphasizes geometric symmetry and harmony among each of design elements and is expressed by pursuing a perfect formative beauty that indicates an eternal formal beauty of a physical space. In addition, functional beauty is also pursued, making clothing convenient for activities. Second, the abstract space is characterized as a kind of purity by emphasizing simple patterns and colors and materials of purity for clothing, and it is sometimes expressed as being extremely abstract so that human body can be shown to be distorted. Third, for the uniform and neutral space, mass-production and production at home was made possible with clothing of simple patterns and of standard. In addition, it showed a tendency to become blurred in gender distinction for clothing with women wearing men's clothing, or borrowing design elements from men's clothing. Forth, the space as means of domination and control was shown to be segmented based on place, function and purpose. In addition, control on physical beauty was shown by promoting slim figures that are suited for lineal silhouette of clothing and circumstantial restriction on clothing occurred during war, serving to limit the styles of and purchase of clothing.

  • Each season, many clothing companies dump small pieces of fabrics left over from making samples. Since fabrics do not decompose easily, this results in environmental pollution. This research was done to discover effective ways to reuse these fabric remnants. As most of these remnants were not large enough for making clothes, fashion accessories was chosen as the design object. Four steps of design development process followed: information research & analysis, prototype design & sample making, market testing, final design decision. After market research and trend analysis, four neck decoration wear -- scarf & muffler(SM). collar & cape(CC), vest & top(VT), and necklace(NE) -- were selected as final product types. 45 designs arose, and 120 items with variations in fabric materials and colors were produced as samples. The three main themes (multiple. reversible, cross) were applied throughout all of the design items. Samples were evaluated from the reactions of the consumers through a 10-day sale at a retail store. Based on the sales record and customers' opinions, five designs from each of the product types SM, CC, and VT were picked out as final designs. In conclusion, fashion accessories turned out to be a more appropriate item to reuse fabric remnants from clothing companies than clothes were, because they necessitate small fabric size and the limitation in fabrics could be compensated with creative design ideas.
