  • Main stream of '90s mathematics education in the U.S must be the NCTM Standards. Since it was published in 1989, much focus has put on it and numerous research has been tried to apply it to real mathematics classes. But there hasn't always good fame. Some schools have already taken the curriculum based on it and recently the negative results have been exposed. Not a few parents, teachers and experts became to be worry about that. In this situation, 1 suppose it is worth to review the original purpose of Standards, look into the recent problems related to it's application and think of improvement or alternatives. This article mainly includes first two issues and particularily considers what problems are to have to be reconsidered in Korea. The following four are what I draw as problems: Basic operations; constructivism; texts and work books; trial and error strategy and group activity.

  • Recently, the problem associated with the achievement of desired trajectories for non-linear robotic manipulatory systems are researched. The control system which is designed for this robot manipulator, poses a number of severe problem. The methods proposed to deal with the problem fall loosely into three main classes : "direct" "adaptive", "anthropomorphic". Besides there is an approach which is described based upon the application of optimal control theory. In this paper, using the optimal theory, we choose error-coordinate, between the desired trajectories and the practical as the state values, and determine the control law U which minimize a corresponding performance criterion. Let's consider the robotic arm proposed by Freund and set up the deviations of it's trajectory as a measure of performance. To find the optimal control law $U^*$ and the next state value which need to obtain $U^*$ here, we should introduced the conjugate gradient algorithm and the Runge Kutta method.

  • The purpose of the research is to investigate the amount of private education expenditures for on-line education and the factors which affect on-line education expenditures and its decreasing effect of private education expenditures. The results of this study can provide basic materials to found policy to decrease private education market and private education expenditures. The sample of this study was 484 parents who had an experience using on-line education for their children being in mainly constituted by classes of pre-school over and less than high school student. The results was as follows. First, education expenditures for on-line education are 64,900won and the English and the Mathematics as main reasons using on-line education were that it is available for 24 hours and cheaper than off-line education. The parents got information for on-line education by internet, mass media and their next-door neighbors. Second, the significant variables which affect on-line education expenditures and its decreasing effect of education expenditures were the children's school level and financial related factors.

  • In this article, a planar geodesic (2-dimensional minimum length curve between two points) on which the maximum curvature is constrained and with prescribed initial and terminal directions is studied. A generic problem is formulated by the minimum-time optimal control problem in free terminal time. It is shown that the optimal path ($G^2$) may contain a singular arc or not and that the general types of $G^2$ can he classified into the 3 classes of control sequences. Finally, the explicit form of $G^2$ is derived geometrically as well as algebraically form the main theorem of this article.

  • The lipid composition of thylakoid membranes was compared between mesophyll and bundle sheath chloroplasts of maize. According to mild-denaturing gel electrophoresis, mesophyll thylakoids contained both PS I complex and PS II light-harvesting chlorophyll-protein complex(LHCP), while those of bundle sheath cells contained mainly PS I complex. The amount of lipids per mg chlorophyll was higher in bundle sheath thylakoids than in mesophyll. The major polar lipid classes were monogalactosyldiacylglycerol(MGDG), digalactosyldiacylglycreol, sulfolipid and phosphatidylglycerol (PG) in both tissues. Linolenic acid(18 : 3), linoleic acid(18 : 2) and palmitic acid(16 : 0) were the main fatty acyl components, with higher ratio of unsaturated to saturated fatty acids in bundle sheath thylakoids, suggesting these membranes are more fluid. The most striking difference in lipid composition between the two kinds of tissues was the practical absence of trans- 3-hexadecenoic acid(16 : 1t) in PG of bundle sheath thylakoids. This fatty acid is known to be involved in the association of LHCP as oligomeric form. More than 80% of MGDG molecular species was 18 : 3, 18 : 3, demonstrating that maize is a typical 18 : 3 plant. Therefore, the possibility of the functional relationships between the lamella structure, and thus the distribution of photosystems, and MGDG molecular species was excluded.

  • Fine structure of the neuromuscular junction in the venomous organ of the spider, Agelena li'mbutq, was studied using high magnification electron microscope. The motor nerve endings at neuromuscular contact area composed of neurons and neuroslial cells were located between musculature and extracellular sheath of the venom gBand. At the synaptic contact between a motor axon and a muscle fiber in the musculature, spherical synaptic vesicles were prominent in the nerve terminal. The sarcoplasm beneath the neuromuscular synapse has a granular appearance and lacks mvofilaments. And the main axon gives off a branch between the muscle fibers. The synaptic regions of this organ are located close to the myofilaments unlike to other chelicerate classes. Moreover the postsvnaptic complex of vesicles and membrane invasinations present in other synaptic legions are absent from these legions in this venomous organ.

  • Let M be a matroid. We study the expansions of M mainly to see how the combinatorial properties of M and its expansions are related to each other. It is shown that M is a graphic, binary or a transversal matroid if and only if an arbitrary expansion of M has the same property. Then we introduce a new functor, called contraction, which acts in contrast to expansion functor. As a main result of paper, we prove that a matroid M satisfies White's conjecture if and only if an arbitrary expansion of M does. It follows that it suffices to focus on the contraction of a given matroid for checking whether the matroid satisfies White's conjecture. Finally, some classes of matroids satisfying White's conjecture are presented.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to investigate effects of skewness and kurtosis on the one-sample test. We have found that type I error brought about a little bit change which is ignorable in relation to kurtosis. Also the change of type I error was completely based on skewness under the same size of the sample. We conclude that using t-test is more similar to robust than using z-test. In introductory statistics classes where data analysis includes techniques for detecting skewness, we recommend the t-test when skewness is smaller than the value 1 to the one-sample test for a mean when the variances is unknown using the probability of a type I error as the criterion of interest.

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate parenting stress of mothers with handicapped children. The study employed an ecological model. Data were collected from 142 mothers of handicapped children enrolled in early childhood education classes at welfare facilities in Seoul, Korea. The main results of the study were as follows: 1. The parenting stress of subject mothers was at a severe level. 2. The hierarchical regression analysis yielded the results that mother's depression(β=.383, p<.001), the degree of child's handicap(β=.307, p<.001), child's age(β=.274, p<.01), and mother's participation at parent education program(β=.176, p<.05) were significant factors in explaining mothers' parenting stress. The research model explained 45% of variance.

  • The main object of this paper is first to give tow contiguous analogues of a well-known hypergeometric summation formula for $_2$F$_1$(1/2). We then apply each of these analogues with a view to evaluating the sums of several classes of series in terms of Psi(or Digamma) and the Zeta functions. Relevant connections of the series identities presented here with those given elsewhere are also pointed out.
