Rapid urbanization resulted in expansion of urban area and increase of population bringing deepened housing shortage. Supply-oriented housing policy made apartment a representative residential space in Korea in spite of the short history of apartment. This study analyzed the shape and arrangement of main building by year and the microclimate in the complex depending on the number of floors. The purpose of this study was to present the basic data in developing apartment complex to solve problems like the stagnation of pollution source and the rise of temperature due to the declined ventilation in apartment complex, and the worsened urban heat island phenomenon due to the impeded flow of wind. This study rearranged the shape and arrangement of main building by year and the tendency of the number of floors by year in the process of change, by generalizing the process of change of apartment complex, a representative modern residential space through preliminary research. Based on it, 8 object lot by age was selected and simulated by using Envi-met. Simulation identified that the change of apartment complex takes place having a positive effect on microclimate in the apartment complex and the microclimate in the apartment complex is influenced a lot by the shape of complex. If in future apartment complex plan, a systematic legal criteria of design is made about the shape and arrangement of main building, it might have a positive effect on the improvement of microclimate in the apartment complex, a representative residential space in Korea.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the unique characteristics of the vernacular house of Ulleung-Do(island), which shows a different residential culture from the main land. For this purpose, this study examined the characteristics of the location, spatial arrangement, and floor-plan of the house and also tried to understand how these basic elements were changed and why these changes were occurred. The result of this study is as follows: First, the house was located on the mountain area and was oriented toward the various bearings. Second, the house usually did not have annexes and most residential space was installed on a main building. Third, the floor-plan of the house was developed from a basic two-Kan (with single row) house type in a early settlement period to three-Kan, four-Kan, and five-Kan house types in later periods. While the development of house type proceeded. the main building was functioned as a complex space for both residential and storage purposes. Some houses were gradually developed into a middle and upper-class house shape by installing annexes. The change of the floor-plan and the house size was the result of self-sustained living culture influenced by the natural environment of the island and of changes of residential conditions as well.
It could be said that the Kyongbok Palace, the main palace of the Chosun Dynasty which built in the early years of the Dynasty, had two main architectural characters. One ; the entire building complex was arranged under the influence of ancient Chinese building principle based on the Confucian ideas. Two ; building compositions and shape of each buildings were succeeded from the palace of the former Koryo Dynasty, especially on the latter periods of it. The architecture of the Kyongbok Palace had formed its own uniqueness by developing these two characters.
This research was undertaken to prove the relationship between street mall activation and architectural plan design. The research methodology was established based on the analysis of data of two existing street malls in Korea (Western Dome & LaFesta) and theoretical studies of outdoor space design. The findings from this study are the following: First, building blocks with segments in every 50m or so are ideal for detailed communication between visitors and building contents. Second, the ratio of width of main corridor and building height should be less than 1 to provide intimate feel and keep visitors' attention concentrated in the facility. Third, store unit should have more storefronts to be exposed more to passers-by and lead more pedestrian traffic. Fourth, shape of store unit would rather be wide and shallow, instead of narrow and deep, to have more exposure to the central corridor. Fifth, the building block of the busiest(most expensive) area that is usually at the main entrance area of street mall should be flexible to fit more smaller units to maximize the profitability. Sixth, the main entrance of store should face the main pedestrian corridor to induce the influx of visitors. Lastly seventh, anchor tenant that has strong name recognition is usually located on basement or higher level to induce pedestrian traffic into the mall, key tenants that are strong and familiar brand names should be located at the corner of building block with spacing to attract visitors, provide even distribution of traffic, and support wayfinding, and local tenant should be located at small units along the central corridor or remainder spaces occurred from building core layout.
Due to the significant aerodynamic interference from sub-towers and surrounding tall buildings, the wind loads and dynamic responses on main tower of three-tower connected tall building typically change especially compared with those on the isolated single tall building. This paper addresses the wind load effects and equivalent static wind loads (ESWLs) of three-tower connected tall building based on measured synchronous surface pressures in a wind tunnel. The variations of the global shape coefficients and extremum wind loads of main tower structure with or without interference effect under different wind directions are studied, pointing out the deficiency of the traditional wind loads based on the load codes for the three-tower connected tall building. The ESWLs calculation method based on elastic restoring forces is proposed, which completely contains the quasi-static item, inertia item and the coupled effect between them. Then the wind-induced displacement and acceleration responses for main tower of three-tower connected tall building in the horizontal and torsional directions are investigated, subsequently the structural basal and floor ESWLs under different return periods, wind directions and damping ratios are studied. Finally, the action mechanism of interference effect on structural wind effects is investigated. Main conclusions can provide a sientific basis for the wind-resistant design of such three-tower connected tall building.
The Purpose of this paper is a study on the characteristics of Campidoglio hill plan by Michelangelo. 1. The plan of the Campidoglio hill is composed of the harmonized and united space, in spite of the existing conditions of a steep flight of land, a irregular site shape, a building of each other different dimension and form. And it is newly changed by site left through the modification of existing building elevation, utilization of existing building for new planning, connection with existing building and newly planned building from plaza composition of trapezoid form. 2. The concept of planning of the Campidoglio hill is planned by compromising for requirements of Baroque after Renaissance which urban planning characteristics of Baroque is as the relation with urban street through a inclined stairs and process such as street-approach stairs-plaza-symbol of inside plaza-building. 3. The section plan of the Campidoglio hill is planned by which can be easily approached to the plaza through the inclined stairs of gentle angle from street at the center east-west direction of main axis such as main axis, utilizing the existing site shape, and it is composed of the convex shape ascending gently at the center central part of the plaza. 4. The plan of the Campidoglio hill is composed of the elation with the axis of existing Senatorio palace, building planning of perfect balance, plaza composition of reversed trapezoid form bybuilding planning, central concentrated planning of buildings surrounding plaza. 5. The three palace of the plan of the Campidoglio hill is composed of the concept as theater which the stage background forms the front elevation of Senatorio palace higher two palace and the wings of either side of stage form the front elevation of Conservatori palace and Nuovo palace, surrounding three palace elevation around plaza of trapezoid form.
To make a prediction for a change of residential environment caused by the building code in Seoul which includes loosening the distance between multi-residential buildings, proposals of the four main building arrangements by analyzing examples were selected and then, amount of daylight and view efficiency were analyzed and presented through computer simulation for the proposals. In the result of the analysis, there was a difference among the arrangements but, when the distance between buildings was applied 0.8H as the least, residential environment like daylight and view efficiency per unit significantly decreased in quality. Particularly, for the middle stories(6-15) and the high stories(16~24), when the distance between buildings decreased from the current measurement, 1.0H, to 0.8H, the analysis indicated that 28% of daylight and 7% of view efficiency were reduced. In the building arrangements, an order of the best residential environment was followed in this sequence; balanced arrangement of flat type as the best, combined arrangement between L-shape and tower types, balanced arrangement of tower type, combined arrangement between flat and Y-shape types, grid arrangement of flat type, and combined arrangement between Y-shape and tower types as the least.
The main purpose of this research is to understand how the problems, which existing letter-shape houses have, are solved in Unjoru which is one of the letter-shape houses. Furthermore, there is the secondary purpose which is to realize the architectural characteristics of Unjoru through the process from the composition of rooms and buildings to the method of structure and roof formation. This research was approached in terms of architectural design, and as the result, the problems of the existing letter-shape houses was resolved by literally converting the shape of outdoor space to 品-shape form. Moreover through the result, it was recognized that the 占-Shape plan was flexible in responding to the demand of the times, such as the order of precedency within men and women and each generation. In addition to the previous results, it was confirmed that the location of major rooms was also decided by considering the interrelationship with natural environment of surrounding area. Also, in the whole proportion of building's plan, each building, such as ㄷ-shape Anchae and big-sized and middle-sized Sarangchae having 丁-shape form, and major rooms in the each building have proportion system such as 1:1, 3:4, $1:\sqrt{2}$, and 3:5 as aesthetic numerical value. Finally, it was understood that the architectural intention had double-sided characters, one side was authority and dignity in the aspect of shape and another side was practicality in aspect of inner housing life.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the plan type of excavation remains during the Mid to Late Joseon period around Jong-ro area in Seoul. 523 building remains were selected in accordance with plan type could identified through the excavation investigation report. Among these, 276 building remains were verified to the $15-16^{th}$, 145 and 102 building were verified to the 17-18th and the $19^{th}$ century. By classifying excavation remains, four dominant plan type of the each century came out. First, -shape was the most common plan type took nearly 50 percent. In a considerable proportion of cases, this plan type seems an annex of main building. However, -shape plan type also seemed to be used for main building in some cases. ㄱ and ㄷshape plan type took the second and the third. In most cases, these types seemed typical plan used for a main housing building. For the last, ㅁshape plan type identified the most unusual. This plan type merely took under five percent but, these cases are meaningful because it shows the plan alteration from ㄷshape to ㅁshape plan type. Existence proportion between each plan types of the $15-16^{th}$ century were continued to the $18-19^{th}$century without small changes between -and ㄱ types in $17-18^h$ century. By examining selected excavation remains, installing front Toi space on ㄱ, ㄷ and ㅁshape plan type stand out clearly compared with -shape plan type. From this tendency, it could be considered that plan type became a significant factor influenced installing Toi space. Similar to periodical tendency of plan type was not changed dramatically, the rate of installing Toi space in the $15-16^{th}$ century was not changed much until the $18-19^{th}$ century. It also shows the close relation between plan type and installing Toi space. In some excavation remains, floor type in the $15-16^{th}$ century also verified. There are some points of similarities on installing typical location of On-dol, Ma-ru and Bu-eok in these excavation remains with later period housing type such as Ut-Bang-Gguk-Oem-Jib and Ddeul-Jib.

In reinforced concrete constructions, reinforcing bar generates more CO2 per unit weight than other construction materials. In particular, cutting and bending rebar is the main source of rebar waste in the construction industry. Rebar-cutting waste is inevitable during the construction of a reinforced concrete structure since the rebar is not manufactured as designed. Large amounts of waste can be avoided by utilizing optimal cutting patterns and schedules. This research provides a fundamental analysis of the automatic calculation of column rebar length using BIM-based shape codes to minimize cutting waste to near zero. By employing this approach in practice, it is possible to minimize the rate of rebar-cutting waste, reduce costs, shorten construction duration, and reduce CO2 emissions. In addition, the development of this research will serve as a clue for the development of BIM-based rebar layout automation algorithms.
