  • This paper describes the finite element procedure including the magnetic hysteresis phenomena. The magnetization-dependent Preisach model is employed to simulate the magnetic hysteresis and applied to each elements. Magnetization is calculated by the Fibonacci search method for the applied field in the implementation of the magnetization-dependent model. This can calculate the magnetization very accurately with small iteration numbers. The magnetic field intensity and the magnetization corresponding to the magnetic flux density obtained by the finite element analysis(FEA) are computed at the same time under the condition that these balues must satisfy the constitutive equation. In order to reduce the total calculation cost, pseudo-permeability is used for the input for the FEA. It is found that the presented method is very useful in combining the hysteresis model with the finite element method.

  • This paper presents finite element analysis algorithm combined with vector hysteresis model for accurate analysis of the hysteresis motor. Magnetization-dependent vector model is adapted to calculate the vector magnetization. That is to say, from the magnitude and direction of the magnetic field intensity, the magnetization of each ring element is computed by the vector model. By comparing the simulation results with the experimental ones, it is found that good results are obtained.

  • This paper presents study of hysteresis model for magnetic hysteresis analysis by Preisach model. In ferromagnetic material, magnetization is non-linear and varies according to magnetic field which is called B-H curve. As hysteresis phenomenon affect on performance of motor, magnetic hysteresis analysis is essential and needed for designing motor that satisfies specification. Therefore, in this paper, methods for calculating magnetization are presented and discussed.

  • This paper describes an implementation of the rotational hysteresis analysis using the finite element method and a vector hysteresis model. The vector hysteresis model is extended from the magnetization-dependent Preisach model. The magnetization of each element is calculated for a given history of the rotating field. The lagging angle and the magnitude of the magnetization for an applied field are evaluated. The experimental results show that the magnetization characteristics of the magnetic materials under the rotating field can be analyzed accurately by the proposed method.

  • In hysteresis simulation, the Preisach model is most widely used as the reliability. However, since the first-order transition curves used in the conventional Preisach model are very inconvenient for actual measurement, many researches have been made to simplify them. In this study, the minor loops obtained along the initial magnetization curve are used to obtain the Everett function used in the Preisach model. In other words, The Everett table is constructed by using the minor loops, and are applied to the magnetization dependent Preisach model to reconstruct the Everett table. In order to minimize the error, the spline interpolation method is used to complete the final Everett table and the hysteresis loop simulation is performed with the Everett table. Furthermore, it is applied to the inductor analysis to perform not only sinusoidal wave and square wave drive but also PWM wave drive considering hysteresis. The validity of the proposed method is confirmed by comparison with simulation and experiment.

  • Magnetization property is a critical factor for magnetorheological fluids (MRFs) to achieve the liquid-solid transition. The main focus of this study is on exploring the influence factors on magnetization properties of MRFs. In this paper, a theoretical analysis is performed to discuss the magnetization characteristics of MRFs firstly. Then, a method for the preparation of carbonyl iron-based MRFs is illustrated and five MRFs samples with various material parameters are prepared. It is succeeded by a series of experiments on testing the hysteresis loop and the magnetization curve of each sample and the influence factors are compared and analyzed. Experimental results indicate that there is basically no hysteresis phenomenon on MRFs which exhibits superparamagnetic behavior at room temperature. A surfactant coating on magnetic particles can slightly improve the MRFs magnetization. Additionally, the magnetic susceptibility and the saturation magnetization both increase with the particle concentration, whereas the influence of particle diameter is relatively very small. Moreover, as the temperature increases, the magnetization decreases and the declining rate accelerates gradually.

  • We have developed a new method for measuring the M-H hysteresis loop of a spheroid-shape magnetic material having a uniaxial anisotropy and discussed its accuracy at fields near the coercivity. Our torque magnetometric method simultaneously gives the saturation magnetization and the remnant magnetization. Furthermore, the coercivity depending on the applied field orientation is accurately measured by this simple technique. An accuracy of the present method is negligibly affected even at fields near the coercivity, where the magnetization is not uniform. The technique makes a torque magnetometer an extremely high sensitive tool for measuring M-H hysteresis loop.

  • Hysteresis motor is a synchronous machine which has simple structure and self-start characteristic but also has serious difficulties in numerical analysis. In this study, a finite element analysis for hysteresis motor considering the hysteresis characteristics is presented. The hysteresis model is the magnetization-dependent Preisach model which explains hysteresis phenomena very well. From this, we estimate the instantaneous torque, average torque and hysteresis loss of the rotor, considering slot and winding distribution.

  • In calculating the hysteresis loops with the Preisach model for ferromagnetism, Everett function is used generally. Because the Everett function is usually given as a table of the lattice-shaped, it is very difficult to directly obtain the Everest table from the data. Therefore this makes some defects in the calculation processes or the accuracy of the results. In this study, using the data sufficiently obtained from the experiment by drawing up the Everett table in the triangle-shaped, and applying the generalized hysteresis model in which the magnetization is depend on the sum of the applied magnetic field and the molecular field, it is shown that our proposal is acceptible in calculating the hysteresis processes.
