Recently, in the manufacturing process of flat panel displays, mass production methods of inline system has been emerged. In particular the next generation OLED display manufacturing process, horizontal inline evaporation process has been tried. It is important for the success of OLED inline evaporation process to develop a magnetic levitation transport system capable of transferring a carrier equipped with a mother glass with high accuracy without any physical contact along the rail under vacuum condition. In the case of existing wheel-based transfer system, it is not suitable for OLED evaporation process requiring high cleanliness. On the other hand, the magnetic levitation transport system has an advantage that it does not generate any dust and it is possible to achieve high-precision control because there are not non-linear factors such as friction force. In this paper, we introduce the high-precision magnetic levitation transport system, which is currently under development, for OLED evaporation process.

The magnetic levitation system has great advantages, such as little friction, no lubrication no noise and so on. The magnetic levitation system need a stabilizing controller because it is a unstable system in natural. This paper presents the robust stabilizing controller design of the magnetic levitation system. The controller which is designed in this paper by $H_{infty}$ control theory is robust servo controller which has zero offset in spite of the model uncertainties. The validity of controller was investigater through the response simulation. In the future, we will use the result of this study at the actual magnetic levitation system.
The magnetic levitation system is utilized in the magnetic bearing of high-speed rotor because of little friction, no lubrication, no noise and so on. The magnetic levitation system need the feedback controller for the stabilization of system, and gap sensors are usually used to measure the gap. The use of sensor is troublesome such as sensor trouble, discord between the measurement point and the control point etc. This paper presents the design of robust stabilizing controller by H$_{\infty}$ control theory using the sensorless method proposed already by authors in the magnetic levitation system. And we investigated both the validity of the designed controller and the usefulness of the sensorless method proposed by authors of magnetic levitation system through results of actual experiment..
Most astrophysical systems are turbulent and magnetized. Magnetic field plays an important role in the dynamics of astrophysical system and influence all of properties of astrophysical system. Therefore, information of magnetic field is very important to understand properties of astrophysical system. One way to obtain information of magnetic field is to use rotation measure. Mean strength of the magnetic field along the line of sight can be estimated from RM/DM, where RM is rotation measure and DM is dispersion measure. For the estimation of magnetic field strength using RM/DM, the correlation between density and magnetic field. When there is no correlation between density and magnetic field the relation gives exact mean magnetic strength. But if the positive correlation, it overestimates the magnetic field strength, while if the correlation is negative, it underestimate the magnetic field strength. In general, the ICM (intracluter medium) and the ISM (interstellar medium) cases, viscosity has a value greater than magnetic diffusion. We performed compressible MHD turbulence simulations and we studied correlation between density and magnetic field in different values of viscosity and magnetic diffusion. In most cases, we found weak or negative relations between the density and magnetic fields. We discuss implication of our results.

A high $T_c$ SQUID system is developed for the application to biological immunoassay. In this application, magnetic nanoparticles are used as magnetic markers to perform immunoassay, i.e., to detect binding reaction between an antigen and its antibody. The antibody is labeled with ${\gamma}-Fe_2O_3\;(or\;Fe_3O_4)$ nanoparticles, and the binding reaction can be magnetically detected by measuring the magnetic field from the nanoparticles. Design and set up of the system is described. The system consists of (1) SQUID magnetometer or gradiometer made of 30-deg. bicrystal junctions, (2) field and compensation coils to apply the magnetic field of about 1 mT, (3) special Dewar to realize a 2 mm-distance between the SQUID and the sample, (4) two layers of cylindrical shielding to reduce the extemal magnetic noise to about 1/100, and (5) an electric slider to move the sample with a speed of 10 mm/sec. The sensitivity of the system is studied in terms of detectable magnetic flux. For the measurement bandwidth from 0.2 Hz to 10 Hz, minimum-detectable amplitude of the magnetic flux is $0.8\;m\;{\Phi}_o$ and $0.25\;m{\Phi}_o$ for the magnetometer and the gradiometer, respectively, when the magnetic field of 1 mT is applied. The difference between them is due to the residual environmental noise, and the applied magnetic field does not increase the system noise. The corresponding weight of the magnetic markers is 1 ng and 310 pg, respectively. An experiment is also conducted to measure antigen-antibody reaction with the present system. It is shown that the sensitivity of the present system is 10 times better than that of the conventional method using an optical marker. A one order of magnitude improvement of sensitivity will be realized by the sophistication of the present system.
Since 1990, Agency for Defense Development is operating the non-magnetic laboratory for the development of key technology for the underwater magnetic stealth part, the research of the magnetic application weapons and the technical support for Korean Navy. Recently, we installed the new three-axis earth magnetic field simulator and the measurement system in the non-magnetic laboratory which is replacing the existing outdated facility. In this paper, we deal with the detailed design result of the earth magnetic field simulator and the measurement system. Also, we describe the effective method to separate the permanent and the induced magnetic field from the measured data for a scaled model ship using the earth magnetic field simulator and the measurement system.
The magnetic bearing system are intrinsically unstable, and need the feedback control of electromagnetic forces with measured displacements. So the controller design plays an important role in constructing high performance magnetic bearing system. In case of magnetic bearing system, the order of identified model is high because of unknown dynamics included in closed loop systems - such as sensor dynamics, actuator dynamics - and non-linearity of magnetic bearings itself. In this paper the identification and robust control of flexible rotor supported by magnetic bearing are discussed. We measure and identify overall system that contains not only flexible rotor model but also magnetic bearing and time delay. The structured and unstructured uncertainties are modeled that cover variations of natural frequencies, uncertainties in sensor and actuator gains and unmodeled dynamics. And desired performances are specified with several weighting function. Using augmented system that includes identified model, uncertainties, and weighting functions, μ-synthesis is applied to flexible rotor supported with magnetic bearing. The flexible rotor was spin up over the first flexible critical speed.
Using the mathematical model of the torsional vibration in spindle system with magnetic coupling, which was proposed in the paper of dynamic analysis of spindle system with magnetic coupling(l), we derive the equations of the motion and the form of the derived equations represents Duffing equation. Numerical analyses are executed in many conditions, namely the various types in magnetic coupling, changes of the gap between driver and follower. To verify the results of the therorectical analyses, a precision dynamic drive system is manufactured and methods of the test to measure the torsional vibration of the spindle system with magnetic coupling are presented ad thests in various conditions are carried out.
This paper focuses on understanding the interrupting capability of an arc contact system in a molded case circuit breaker (hereafter MCCB). We selected four types of MCCBs and analyzed the magnetic flux density distributions in the contact systems caused by the fault currents. We ascertained that the magnetic flux density profile varies according to the shape of the contact system and was asymmetric at both the ends of an arc, perpendicular to the arc column because of the magnetic grid installed in the contact system. The asymmetric difference creates a magnetic force that pushes the arc current outwards and provides an interrupting capability. We have introduced a simple analysis method for determining the interrupting capability of the contact system for an MCCB by the arc-driving magnetic flux density.
