To get the spatial feature of arterial pulse, we designed spatial pulse diagnostic apparatus (SPDA) using a 2-dimensional magnetoresistive sensor array. The magnetic field distribution fur magnet may was simulated using finite element method. We recognized that the field distribution of parallel magnet mays was more sensitive and uniformed than that of perpendicular one. Also the spatial displacements of magnet array were agreed with the output signal of magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) sensor array.

Gas transmission pipelines are often inspected and monitored using the magnetic flux leakage method. An inspection vehicle known as a "pig" is launched into the pipeline and conveyed along the pipe by the pressure of natural gas. The pig contains a magnetizer, an array of sensors and a microprocessor-based data acquisition system for logging data. This paper describes magnetic flux leakage (MFL) signal processing used for detecting mechanical damages during an in-line inspection. The overall approach employs noise removal and clustering technique. The proposed method is computationally efficient and can easily be implemented. Results are presented and verified by field tests from an application of the signal processing.

A system for detecting underwater target demands a high operational reliability because of the difficulty of maintenance and repair when the system has a few troubles during long operating period. Therefore, in this paper, we have proposed a signal transport system with a high reliability in an underwater sensor array system composed of magnetic and acoustic sensors. In this system, the nodes for signal transport are connected dually each other with single-hop construction and a magnetic sensor is connected to a couple of neighboring nodes. This enables the output signal to transport from a node to the next node and the next but one node. Also, the signal from a magnetic sensor can be transported to two nodes at the same time. Thus, the system with this construction makes possible to transport sensor data to another node which works normally when a transport node or cable have some faults and will operate normally although it happens some problems in a few signal transport nodes and connection cables.
A robust intelligent algorithm for AGV navigation control is presented here based on both magnetic and gyro sensors to track a reference trajectory. Since the proposed system uses an intermittent array of short magnetic tape strips, it lends itself to a very easy installation and maintenance compared to other types of positioning references such as electric wire, magnets, RF and laser beacons. The neural network is to predict the lateral deviation of the AGV in the intervals where no magnetic tape references are available. Further, the use of intelligent control ensures a robust and flexible control performance. Computer simulation of AGV control demonstrates its adequate tracking performances even where the sensor information is not available. Real experiments using Samsung AGV are also on the way for real verification

As very sensitive magnetic field sensors, superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) are used to measure magnetic field signals from the human heart. By analyzing these cardiomagnetic signals, functional diagnoses of heart can be done. In order to measure weak biomagnetic signals, we need a multichannel SQUID array with sensor coverage large enough to cover the whole heart to enable the measurement in a single position setting. In this paper, we review the recent development of SQUID systems for measuring cardiomagnetic fields, with special emphasis on SQUID types.
There are many actuators and sensors used for attitude control system for KOMPSAT such as Reaction Wheel Assembly, Magnetic Torque Assembly, Dual Thruster Module, Solar array Drive, Three Axis Magnetometer, Conical Earth Sensor, Fine Sun Sensor Assembly, Coarse Sun Sensor Assembly, Gyro Reference Assembly and so on. For KOMPSA T satellite it has been considered using the Magnetic Torquer (MTQ) generating the magnetic dipole moment. In general, the magnetic dipole moment for satellite attitude control system is used for dumping out the excessive reaction wheel momentum so that the reaction wheel speed is not saturated. The objective of this study is to analyze the magnetic field characteristics generated by the Magnetic Torquer using the Maxwell 2D Field Simulator software. Currently, the developing model (DM) of the MTQ is being developed and manufactured at a company under the supervision of KARL MTQ is an electromagnet consisting of a ferromagnetic cylindrical core on which an excitation coil is wound. A current is passed through the coil to produce a dipole momentum in the ferromagnetic core. The configuration of the MTQ will be introduced in the presentation. The 2 dimensional model of the MTQ is drawn as axisymmetric models in RZ plane, and each corresponding material is assigned to the each MTQ object, the core, coil, and background. After the boundary conditions, current sources, and solution parameters are set up, the magnetic field intensities, directions, and other values specified by users can be calculated by using the finite element analysis. The theoretical magnetic field quantities obtained by the Maxwell 2D Simulator can be used for the basis of the development of the MTQ.

We consider design factors for a SQUID sensor array to construct a 52-channel magnetocardiogram (MCG) system that can be used to measure tangential components of the cardiac magnetic fields. Nowadays, full-size multichannel MCG systems, which cover the whole signal area of a heart, are developed to improve the clinical analysis with high accuracy and to provide patients with comfort in the course of measurement. To design the full-size MCG system, we have to make a compromise between cost and performance. The cost is involved with the number of sensors, the number of the electronics, the size of a cooling dewar, the consumption of refrigerants for maintenance, and etc. The performance is the capability of covering the whole heart volume at once and of localizing current sources with a small error. In this study, we design the cost-effective arrangement of sensors for MCG by considering an adequate sensor interval and the confidence region of a tolerable localization error, which covers the heart. In order to fit the detector array on the cylindrical dewar economically, we removed the detectors that were located at the corners of the array square. Through simulations using the confidence region method, we verified that our design of the detector array was good enough to obtain whole information from the heart at a time. A result of the simulation also suggested that tangential-component MCG measurement could localize deeper current dipoles than normal-component MCG measurement with the same confidence volume; therefore, we conclude that measurement of the tangential component is more suitable to an MCG system than measurement of the normal component.

Nondestructive testing (NDT) by using the electromagnetic methods are useful for detecting cracks on the surface and subsurface of the metal. However, when the material contains both ferromagnetic and paramagnetic materials, it is difficult for NDT to detect and analyze cracks using this method. In addition the existence of a partial ferromagnetic material can be incorrectly characterized as a crack in the several cases. On the other hand a large crack has sometimes been misunderstood as a partially magnetized region. Inconel 600 is an important material in atomic energy plant. A nickel film is coated when a crack a appears on an Inconel substrate. Cracks are difficult to detect on the combined material of an Inconel substrate with a nickel film, which are paramagnetic and ferromagnetic material respectively. In this paper, a scan type magnetic camera, which uses a complex induced current-magnetic flux leakage (CIC-MFL) method as a magnetic source and a linearly integrated Hall sensor array (LIHaS) on a wafer as the magnetic sensors, was examined for its ability to detect cracks on the combined material. The evaluation probability of a crack is discussed. In addition the detection probability of the minimum depth was reported.
Recently underwater geophysical problems for historical relics or UXO's are raised frequently. This study includes the applicabilities and limitations of the recent underwater metal detector and domestic case stories for underwater survey by electrical and magnetic method. Direct or indirect case stories are electrical and vertical magnetic gradiometry surveys beneath Han-river bottom for planning subway tunnel, electrical exploration on lake-bottom, electrical exploration on the tidal flats using high-power transmitter, and borehole three-component magnetic and electromagnetic surveys for detecting the undersea objects. A design of potable real-time, high-speed measurement system using multi-channel array sensors is also introduced here. Further study will be focussed on practical field applications of the fast water-bottom scanning system which is lately required by actual field.
