  • The emergence of a magnetic flux tube (flux emergence) is a process of transporting magnetic field from the solar interior to the atmosphere. This process naturally produces bipolar structure at the surface, in which emerging field lines simply connect opposite polarities, while observations suggest that the surface distribution of magnetic field is more complicated than a simple bipole. This study is aimed at solving this apparent mismatch between the model and observations, showing how the surface distribution changes from a simple bipolar distribution to a quadrupolar-like one, where a half-turn rotation of the polarity inversion line plays an important role. We explain the physical reason of this half-turn rotation and also discuss a possible configuration of filament magnetic field in terms of the quadrupolar-like structure formed via flux emergence.

  • The effects of additional P-doping on the magnetic properties, thermal stability and cation distribution of Co-doped ${\gamma}-{Fe_2} {O_3}$have been investigated by means of magnetic annealing and measurements with vibration sample magnetometer and torque magnetometer. It is found that the P-doping promotes the coercivity and its magnetic-thermal stability, which may be attributed to increase of the cubic magneto-crystalline anisotropy constant, $K_1$ and the activation energy, E, for cation rearrangement, respectively. The cation distribution of P and Co-substituted iron oxide was calculated from the variation of the saturation magnetization with P-doping on the basis of the Neel model. It was found that the most of P ions in the iron oxides occupied the B-site of spinel lattice.

  • It was investigated the effect of ultrasonic treatment on magnetic property of ultra fine magnetic Fe powders ($\alpha$-Fe) for magnetic tape. The properties were characterized with vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), particle size analyzer (PSA) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). At 4hours ultrasonic treatment of 70 kHz, magnetic properties such as squareness ratio (S.Q. : 0.8868), orientation ratio (O.R. : 2.45) and switching field distribution (S.F. D. : 0.394) before taping were relatively enhanced. Cumulative particle size distribution of less than 5$\mu\textrm{m}$ fine powder was above 90% below 1 hour leaving time after ultrasonic treatment and it was supposed that ultrasonic treatment prevent aggregation. The magnetic values of S.Q. and S.F.D. of tape manufactured at 70 kHz and 4hour ultrasonic treatment were improved from 0.7747, 0.3818 to 0.8037, 0.3706, respectively. Electro-magnetic property used as in-output signal characteristic was improved, which showed that ultrasonic treatment developed the magnetic properties.

  • Magnetic circuit design of HTS (High Temperature Superconducting) motor is important to achieve the power at a given load condition, and it is essential to the thermal design for HTS motor rotors. To determine the result of thermal design, the magnetic field distribution has to be known exactly. On the basis of the 2 dimensional magnetic field analysis, the magnetic field distributions due to several cases are calculated by using Biot-Savart equation and magnetic image method. And the I$_{c}$ of HTS field coil was calculated by using I$_{c}$-B(equation omitted) curve and 3D FEA(Finite Element Analysis).is).

  • In this paper, we performed analysis of electric field, magnetic field, current density in AMF electrode using the Maxwell 3D simulation. The current distribution and magnetic field in simple models are analyzed to verify its efficiency and accuracy. In the vicinity of the slits of axial magnetic field type electrode a comparatively high axial magnetic flux density existsIn addition the validity of FEM is confirmed by performing the analyses of distribution in current density and magnetic flux density.

  • This paper develops the theory for a novel fault-tolerant, permanent magnet biased, 6-active-pole, homopolar magnetic bearing. The Lagrange Multiplier optimization with equality constraints is utilized to calculate the optimal distribution matrices for the failed bearing. some numerical examples of distribution matrices are provided to illustrate the new theory. Simulations show that very much the same dynamic responses (orbits or displacements) are maintained throughout failure events (up to any combination of 3 coils failed for the 6 pole magnetic bearing) while currents and fluxes change significantly. The overall load capacity of the bearing actuator is reduced as coils fail. The same magnetic forces are then preserved up to the load capacity of the failed bearing.

  • The squirrel cage three-phase induction motor has been used in all types of industry for a number of years. A series of noise components were identied analytically from the expressions for the node numbers and frequencies of the magnetic force waves, taking into account the stator and rotor sldtting, eccentricity, asymmetric and iron saturation. A method is presented for calculating the magnetic energy distribution of eccentrical and asymmetric the squirrel cage induction motor.

  • A model to describe the effect of stator slotting in the airgap region of a linear brushless permanent magnet motor (LBLPMM) is proposed for analytical prediction of magnetic field distribution. It is a two-dimensional model based on superposition of the effect of stator slotting and main field due to permanent magnet (PM) without stator slotting. The effect of stator slotting is expressed in form of a generalized equation, which is obtained by numerical analysis and is a function of motor geometric parameters, so the proposed model effectively accounts for the effect of stator slotting in the airgap field distribution according to change of motor geometry or relative motion of stator and armature. Results of prediction from the proposed model are compared with corresponding finite element analysis.

  • Magnetic properties of CoPt nanoparticles (average size = 2.1 nm) encapsulated in synthesized protein shell have been investigated with SQUID (Superconducting Quantum Interference Device) magnetometer and analyzed by the recently developed non-equilibrium magnetization calculation by our group [T. H. Lee et al., Phys. Rev. B 90, 184411 (2014)]. Field dependence of magnetization measured at 2 K was successfully analyzed with modified Langevin function. In addition, small hysteresis loops having the coercive field of 890 Oe were observed at 2 K. Temperature dependence of magnetization has been measured with zero field cooled (ZFC) and field cooled (FC) protocol with slightly modified sequence in accordance with non-equilibrium magnetization calculation. The analysis on the M vs. T data revealed that the anisotropy energy barrier distribution is found to be very different from the log-normal distribution found in a size distribution. Zero temperature coercive field and Bloch coefficient have also been extracted from the analysis and the validity of those values is checked.
