  • Using the EMTP(Electro Magnetic Transient Program) for the analysis of lightning direct voltage on the railway system, the shielding effects of overhead grounding wire on the railway were studied quantitatively. Installation of overhead ground wire and gap-type arrester such as s-horn Provides a 6.6㎸ HV distribution line with good protection effects. Even severe lightning induced voltage were create, 6.6㎸ HV lines can be withstand.

  • This paper presents the electromagnetic shielding structure for low frequency wireless power transfer system with magnetic induction method using soft magnetic materials. Soft magnetic materials have advantages such as high permeability and low magnetic loss, but have undesirable effect of power loss by eddy current. To overcome this, we proposed the patterned soft magnetic material to suppress the eddy current path. For validity of this paper, we simulated the coil transfer efficiency and the radiated electromagnetic field, and fabricated the proposed structure using 79-permalloy. The measured results shows good agreements with the simulated results and reduction of the radiated electromagnetic field compared to commercial ferrite plate.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect on the phantom for magnetic resonance imaging located nearby by partially shielding RF with a mesh made thinner than hair composed of copper, black metal, and polyester using metallic materials of titanium, which are commonly used for esophageal stents and implants in the body. Magnetic resonance images according to field of view (FOV) were analyzed in the Spin Echo T1 weighted images of TR 500 ms, TE 20 ms, NEX 1, and slice thickness 5mm using a Cardiac coil of 3T Achieva X-series. Aliasing artifact did not occur in FOV 304 mm × 304 mm, but it occurred in 250 mm × 250 mm and 170 mm × 170 mm. In FOV 170 mm × 170 mm, when a mesh was not used, the SNR was measured with 78.23, and when separated by standing a mesh in the middle, it was 215.05, and when completely shielded with a mesh, the SNR was 366.44. In addition, when completely shielded with a mesh, the aliasing artifact was also removed, and signal intensities on the left, middle and right of the image were also able to obtain homogeneous images compared to the previous two cases. In conclusion, if RF is partially shielded with a mesh, aliasing artifact can be removed, and magnetic resonance images with excellent image resolution and homogeneity can be obtained using a small FOV.

  • In this paper, we propose magnetic field wireless power transfer antenna using Ferrite. It is possible to transfer magnetic field wireless power without independent ground by using characteristic of ferrite in the point that conventional magnetic field wireless power transfer was possible with independent grounding. Ferrite has a shielding effect of magnetic field and reduces leakage power, thereby improving transfer efficiency. We propose an antenna for magnetic field wireless power transfer using ferrite and confirmed that it is transmitted by 5W magnetic field wireless power through experiments. The wireless power transfer proposed in this paper can be applied variously to the Internet of things by using the magnetic field wireless power transfer through the metal.

  • In this paper, the magnetic coupling between an induction cooker and a metallic pot is studied for various winding topologies. Effects of the winding orientation on the power transfer capability and on the emitted magnetic field under the cooker are discussed and compared. A novel topology inspired by permanent magnet Halbach array is proposed. This consists in coupling in both horizontal and vertical directions and to create an asymmetric field in order to reduce the emission under the cooker.

  • Nano-size manganese ferrite reinforced conductive polypyrrole composites reveal a core-shell structure by in situ polymerization, in the presence of dodecyl benzene sulfonic acid as the surfactant and dopant, and iron chloride as the oxidant. The structure and magnetic properties of manganese ferrite nano-fillers were measured, by using X-ray diffraction and vibrating sample magnetometer. The morphology, microstructure, and conductivity of the composite were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and four-wire technique. The microwave-absorbing properties of composites reinforcement dispersed in resin coating with the coating thickness of 1.2 nm were investigated, by using vector network analyzers, in the frequency range of 8~12 GHz. A reflection loss of -8 dB was observed at 10.5 GHz.

  • In this paper, we examine the electrical and magnetic properties of three different types of shield materials used for wireless power transfer systems: namely, FeSiAl-composite, NiZn-ferrite, and FeSi-amorphous types. The power transfer efficiency and resistance of an RX coil are measured, while varying the shield thickness. For all three types, a thicker shield provides better power transfer efficiency. Analysis of the measurements shows that the FeSiAl-composite type is suitable for systems with size limitation. In terms of magnetic properties, the FeSi-amorphous type shows the best features, and is suited to high power applications. This work can be used as a guideline to select suitable shielding material in various wireless power transfer systems.

And we suggested quench protection circuit that is combined with several protection techniques. This circuit has the capacity to maintain the symmetric nature of the magnetic field and the active shielding effect and to protect shim coils during a quench.

  • Magnetic field theories for the design of highly homogeneous magnet are introduced and a nonlinear optimization method for the design of actively shielded superconducting magnet is presented. The presented design method can optimize both main coil and shielding coil simultaneously by setting constraints on stray field intensity at a specified distance from the magnet center. A 2-Tesla actively shielded superconducting magnet, with 90cm bore diameter, is designed using the presented method. The field homogeneity is 2ppm/30cm DSV and the 5 gauss stray field contour is within 4m axially and 3m radially from the magnet center. (author)., 7 refs., 6 figs., 3 tabs.
