RHT-Based Ellipse Detection for Estimating the Position of Parts on an Automobile Cowl Cross Bar Assembly (RHT 기법을 이용한 카울크로스바의 조립위치 결정에 관한 연구)

  • This study proposed the new method of discerning the assembled parts and presuming the position of central point in a Cowl Cross Bar (CCB) using a Charge-Couple Device (CCD) camera attached to a robot in the auto assembly line. Three control points of an ellipse were decided by three reference points, which were equally distanced. The radii of these reference points were determined by the size of the object, and the repeated presumption secured the precise determination. The comparison of the central point of ellipse presumed by Randomized Hough Transform (RHT) with the part information stored in a database was used for determining the faulty part in an assembly. The method proposed in this study was applied for the real-time inspection of elliptical parts, such as bolt, nut hole and so on, connected to a CCB using a CCD camera. The findings of this study showed that the precise decision on whether the parts are inferior or not can be made irrespective of the lighting condition of industrial site and the noises of the surface of the part. In addition, the defect decision on the individual elliptic parts assembled in a CCB showed more than 98% accuracy within a 500-millisecond period at most.

  • We present a very simple and efficient bare-wafer inspection method using a knife-edge test. The wafer front surface and inner structures are inspected simultaneously. The wafer front surface is inspected visually using a knife-edge test while the inner structure is simultaneously inspected by a camera in the infrared region with a single white-light source. This paper presents a laboratory implementation of the test method with some experimental results.

A study on autonomy level classification for self-propelled agricultural machines

  • In the field of on-road motor vehicles, the level for autonomous driving technology is defined according to J3016, proposed by Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International. However, in the field of agricultural machinery, different standards are applied by country and manufacturer, without a standardized classification for autonomous driving technology which makes it difficult to clearly define and accurately evaluate the autonomous driving technology, for agricultural machinery. In this study, a method to classify the autonomy levels for autonomous agricultural machinery (ALAAM) is proposed by modifying the SAE International J3016 to better characterize various agricultural operations such as tillage, spraying and harvesting. The ALAAM was classified into 6 levels from 0 (manual) to 5 (full automation) depending on the status of operator and autonomous system interventions for each item related to the automation of agricultural tasks such as straight-curve path driving, path-implement operation, operation-environmental awareness, error response, and task area planning. The core of the ALAAM classification is based on the relative roles between the operator and autonomous system for the automation of agricultural machines. The proposed ALAAM is expected to promote the establishment of a standard to classify the autonomous driving levels of self-propelled agricultural machinery.

  • Large scale plants are equipped with a number of the rotating machineries which ocuupy important positions in the plant system. Therefore, the most important one is a vibraiton diagnostic thchnology which can detect quickly any abnormal symptom of operating malfunction and guve operational and inspection guides adequately. A new diagnosis method is developed in this paper, in which the fuzzy set theory is introduced to diagnose the defects of ratating machinery. The selection of memgership function and the fuzzy operation model are discussed in datail here. The systme is sucessfully used for various defacts diagnosis of rotating machinery. The result indicate that realixtic application can be builtusing this approach.

  • This study proposes a non-contact inspective technology based robot vision system for Faulty Inspection of welding States and Parts Shape. The maine focus is real time implementation of the machining parts' automatic inspection by the robotic moving. For this purpose, the automatic test instrument inspects the precision components designator the vision system. pattern Recognition Technologies and Precision Components for vision inspection technology and precision machining of precision parts including the status and appearance distinguish between good and bad. To perform a realization of a real-time automation integration system for the precision parts of manufacturing process, it is designed a robot vision system for the integrated system controller and verified the reliability through experiments. The main contents of this paper, the robot vision technology for noncontact inspection of precision components and machinery parts is useful technology for FA.

  • This paper presents a study on the helical gear inspection system for application to vehicle transmission gear manufacturing lines. The special gear profile inspection system is not suitable for manufacturing lines due to the measuring time. The master gear method, which was used in this study and compared with the machined gear in the line, is more efficient and economical. In this paper, three helical gear inspection parameters were of concern: nick, run-out, and PCD (pitch circle diameter) error. To evaluate its influence on the accuracy, the gear measuring system was also studied. This system can be useful in practical vehicle transmission gear manufacturing lines, where imported equipment is currently being used.
