Development of the submerged heat treatment machine for PBSAT(polybutylene succinate adipate-co-terephthalate) monofilament nets and its efficiency (수중 침지식 생분해성 PBSAT 그물 열처리기 개발과 성능 분석)

  • The heat treatment machine based on immersion was developed to reduce temperature difference during netting process and appraised it performance compared current heat treatment machine using high pressure. It was also reviewed the optimum heat treatment procedures for PBSAT monofilament net in accordance with the immersion time and temperature. The procedure was based on physical measurement such as breaking load, elongation and angle of the mesh for PBSAT monofilament. The water temperature gap of the treatment machine based on immersion was less than $1^{\circ}C$. and the energy consumption was also increased in high temperature condition. It was identified that the optimum temperature was $75^{\circ}C$ and its optimum processing time was between 15 minutes and 20 minutes to get qualified physical properties.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop machine embroidery textile designs for each technique that can be expressed using a single-headed computer embroidery sewing machine through a machine embroidery CAD system. For research, embroidery CAD utilized the Artistic digitizer, and the guillotine computer-mechanical magnetization machine used ELNA. The design concept was limited to portraits and relics of independence activists in six memorial halls built in Korea. The results of this study are as follows. First, it was found that the machine embroidery texture, which could only be produced by industries in the past, can be expand in the infinite creative embroidery design area by enabling the digitalization of motif images and the simulation of machine embroidery techniques through various layout options. Second, in the development of machine embroidery textures, it was found that the setting of the width, height, axis ratio, stitch, object, path, length, density, layer order, etc. in embroidery CAD is a very important part of determining the completeness of the embroidery results. Third, mechanical embroidery textile designs, which can be represented by single-head computer machine embroidery machine were able to show colorful embroidery results that differs from the original image by using seven main techniques and five deep technique alone or in combination, according to the designer's intention.

  • Recently, the deburring process which is last process of manufacture is one of the important process for complete product. The development of shape guided automatic deburring machine is essential because manual deburring process has very irregular quality and higher error rate as well as consider irregular shape radius. In order to develop of shape guided automatic deburring machine, in this study, we conducted 3D design, assembly, machine simulation and structural analysis using CATIA. Also, we conducted to make automatic deburring machine and conducted a performance test.

  • This paper is devoted to the development and performance evaluation of a hard bearing type balancing machine for rigid rotors. The pedestals of the balancing machine are designed to be rigid to be rigid enough to enable the balancing to operate far below the fundamental critical speed. The force measuring method is implemented to the balancing machine. The forces due to unbalance are measured through load cell that are attached to the pedestals. A helical coupling is used for transmitting the driving force from an AC servo motor to the rotor to be balanced. The experimental results show that the current hard bearing type balancing machine can indicate the presence of unbalance beyond 1 .mu. m in specific unbalance unit. The limitation of the current balancing machine is due to the coupling that is likely to make inconsistent offset errors everytime the rotor is connected to the machine.

  • This work aims to develop modeling methodology of machine part reliability. The reliability model is to be used for predicting and improving reliability in planning and design processes of products. In order to develop the reliability model of machine parts, the functions and interactions of sub-units of machine parts are analyzed first and function network is constructed. Using the function network, function block diagram is developed, which can be the basis for deriving reliability block diagram. Modeling of machine part reliability has not been widely studied since the reliability modeling of machine parts requires understanding of the functions and failures of their components in several viewpoints. This work tries to find general methodology of reliability modeling and proposes a framework for reliability improvement during machine part development.

  • This study presents development of a multi-way high speed pipe cutting machine to improve production rate of pipe cut pans. In this paper, structural and modal analysis for the developed machine is carried out to check safety of the machine design. The analysis is carried out by FEM simulation using the commercial software, CATIA V5. The machine is modeled by placing proper shell and solid finite elements. The final results of analysis are applied to the design of multi-way high speed pipe cutting machine and the machine is successfully developed.

  • This paper deals with the development of the high frequency thawing machine. The fishery products caught over the world are kept frozen to maintain freshness. These fishery products require thawing before they are sold to customers as food. However, the thawing process can cause freshness reduction, drip coming out, quality deterioration, discharging polluted water, as well as a lot of space and time. The high frequency thawing machine developed to solve this problem has a narrow space, a short thawing time and a small drip. The developed high frequency thawing machine can be used in many fields such as fish processing plant, livestock processing plant. This paper describes the design of the high frequency thawing machine by developing the high frequency generator, development of the controller, and the design of mechanism, and shows the superiority of the high frequency thawing machine by the performance evaluation.

Detection of E.coli biofilms with hyperspectral imaging and machine learning techniques

  • Bacteria are a very common cause of food poisoning. Moreover, bacteria form biofilms to protect themselves from harsh environments. Conventional detection methods for foodborne bacterial pathogens including the plate count method, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA), and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays require a lot of time and effort. Hyperspectral imaging has been used for food safety because of its non-destructive and real-time detection capability. This study assessed the feasibility of using hyperspectral imaging and machine learning techniques to detect biofilms formed by Escherichia coli. E. coli was cultured on a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) coupon, which is a main material of food processing facilities. Hyperspectral fluorescence images were acquired from 420 to 730 nm and analyzed by a single wavelength method and machine learning techniques to determine whether an E. coli culture was present. The prediction accuracy of a biofilm by the single wavelength method was 84.69%. The prediction accuracy by the machine learning techniques were 87.49, 91.16, 86.61, and 86.80% for decision tree (DT), k-nearest neighbor (k-NN), linear discriminant analysis (LDA), and partial least squares-discriminant analysis (PLS-DA), respectively. This result shows the possibility of using machine learning techniques, especially the k-NN model, to effectively detect bacterial pathogens and confirm food poisoning through hyperspectral images.

  • The working tactor of this study, an agriculture machine, is consisted of 4 wheel driving system with gear trains and 4-type wheel steering system. Since technological regions for 4 wheel driving system and 4-type wheel steering system are some large, we divide on two studies on 4 wheel driving system and 4-type wheel steering system This study develops transmission and axle that are very important units for strong working operation because the power of tractor is largely affected by transmission and axle. Even if the development of the power train is some common technology, it is very complicated work and needs many experience know-hows. So, for new given specifications fitted to the working tractor, a kind of new agriculture machine, this study haws out processes that are development of assembly drawing and strength analysis through classical method and CAE software for all internal parts and housing cases.

  • This paper evaluated the structural improvements and new product development of cleaning machines. A cleaning machine was redesigned for structural improvements and new product development using a 3-D design program CATIA. In addition, structural analysis was conducted on the modeled cleaning machine using the ANSYS program. The total deformation, stress and strain were obtained by the pressure change. This result was applied to the new product development of cleaning machines.
