  • Epoxy/mica composite was synthesized, in order to use it as an impregnation resin in a vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI) process, for manufacturing a high voltage rotary machine. The average particle size of the mica was 5~7 ${\mu}m$ and its content was 0, 20, 30 and 40 wt%. A plasticizer or a low molecular aliphatic epoxy was also used, to decrease the viscosity of the composite. The AC electrical breakdown strength was estimated in sphere-to-sphere electrodes, and the electrical breakdown data were estimated by Weibull statistical analysis. The electrical breakdown strength became higher with the addition of mica; and that of the system with 20 wt% mica was highest. The electrical breakdown strength of the system with an aliphatic epoxy was higher than that of the system with a, plasticizer.

  • In studying an EOQ-like inventory model for a manufacturing process, a number of findings were made. The system can "go out of control" resulting in a relatively minor problem state or "break-down". When the production system is in the minor problem statei produces a number of defective items. It is assumed that each defective piece requires rework cost and related operations. Once the machine breakdown takes place, the production system produces severely defective items that are completely unusable. Each completely unusuable item is immediately discarded and incurs handling cost, scrapped raw material cost and related operations. Two investment options in improving the production process are introduced : (1) reducing the probability of machine breakdown, breakdowns, and (2) simultaneously reducing the probability of machine breakdowns and setup costs. By assuming specific forms of investment cost function, the optimal investment policies are obtained explicitly. Finally, to better understand the model in this paper, the sensitivity of these solutions to changes in parameter values and numerical examples are provided.amples are provided.

  • 4-types of coils were prepared by coating with polyamideimide (PAI) organic/inorganic hybrid. One type was made with original PAI vanish and the other 3-types were made of double layers, that was to say, high flexural PAI layer and high anti-corona PAI/nanosilica (15 wt%) layer. Drying temperature (T/D) were $220^{\circ}C$, $240^{\circ}C$, and $260^{\circ}C$, respectively and rectangular type coil for high-voltage rotating machine was used. DC and AC electrical breakdown tests were carried out in order to study the insulation properties according to T/D temperature and coil curvature (5, 15, and $25mm{\Phi}$). As the curvature increased, electrical breakdown voltage decreased and as T/D temperature decreased, electrical breakdown voltage increased.

  • Heat cycle aging of insulating materials in large generator stator winding has been investigated using both on-line and off-line test methods. On this study, principally, off-line test against actual generator in service was carried out to acquire information about polarization index(PI) and dissipation factor, dissipation factor tip-up, maximum partial discharge for the purpose of remnant breakdown voltage and life assessment. It was found from the tests that both dissipation factor and maximum partial discharge decreased with the increase of operating hours and starting numbers. It was found from off-line tests that the remnant breakdown voltage had a strong relationship with both dissipation factor and maximum partial discharge the remnant breakdown voltage as a results of both operating hours and starting number and the nondestructive tests were proposed as parameters which can predict the remnant lifetime of insulating materials in large generator stator windings. • Today, electrical machine is being large capacitor and EHV(Extra High Voltage) of power equipment is a need of high reliability of insulating matetials. Therefore, it is a need of fixed appraisement of lifetime to used data of breakdown. This paper studied a development of the program for estimation the lifetime of insullating materials and the long-time breakdown voltage by experimentation. The estimation program is based on the "Inverse Power Law", defined V$\^$n/t is constant. After gaining the life exponent n, it is mapping the long-time breakdown voltages. On the base of life exponent, the estimation of lifetime and usefulness of the insulation systems are possible, furthermore easy calculation is possible.

  • Many important scientific and engineering problems require the computation of a small number of eigenvalues for large nonsymmetric matrices. The biorthogonal Lanczos method is one of the methods to solve that problem, but it faces serious breakdown problems. In this paper, we introduce a modified biorthogonal Lanczos method to find a few eigenvalues of a large sparse nonsymmetric matrix. The proposed method generates reduction matrices that are similar to those generated by the standard biorthogonal Lanczos method. We prove that the breakdown conditions of our method are less stringent than the standard method. We then implement the modified biorthogonal Lanczos method on the CRAY machine and discuss the decreased breakdown conditions.

  • In this paper, studies on application cases of machine condition monitoring using oil sensors are reviewed. Owing to rapid industrial advancements, maintenance strategies play a crucial role in reducing the cost of downtime and improving system reliability. Consequently, machine condition monitoring plays an important role in maintaining operation stability and extending the period of usage for various machines. Machine condition monitoring through oil analysis is an effective method for assessing a machine's condition and providing early warnings regarding a machine's breakdown or failure. Among the three prevalent methods, the online analysis method is predominantly employed because this method incorporates oil sensors in real-time and has several advantages (such as prevention of human errors). Wear debris sensors are widely employed for implementing machine condition monitoring through oil sensors. Furthermore, various types of oil sensors are used in different machines and systems. Integrated oil sensors that can measure various oil attributes by incorporating a single sensor are becoming popular. By monitoring wear debris, machine condition monitoring using oil sensors is implemented for engines, automotive transmission, tanks, armored vehicles, and construction equipment. Additionally, such monitoring systems are incorporated in aircrafts such as passenger airplanes, fighter airplanes, and helicopters. Such monitoring systems are also employed in chemical plants and power plants for managing overall safety. Furthermore, widespread application of oil condition diagnosis requires the development of diagnostic programs.

  • Condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of machines are gaining importance in the industry because of the need to increase reliability and to decrease possible loss of production due to machine breakdown. By comparing the nitration signals of a machine running in normal and faulty conditions, detection of faults like mass unbalance, shaft misalignment and bearing defects is possible. This paper presents a novel approach for applying the fault diagnosis of rotating machinery. To detect multiple faults in rotating machinery, a feature selection method and support vector machine (SVM) based multi-class classifier are constructed and used in the faults diagnosis. The results in experiments prove that fault types can be diagnosed by the above method.
