공작기계 구조물 설계를 위한 통합설계 시스템 개발 (Development of Integrated Design System for Structural Design of Machine Tools)

  • The design process of machine tools is regarded as a sequential, discrete, and inefficient works as it requires various kinds of design tools and many working hours. This paper describes an integrated design system embedding a design methodology that can support efficiently and systematically the conceptual structural design of machine tools. The system is a knowledge-based design system and has four machine-tool-specific functional modules including configuration design, configuration analysis, structure design, and structural analysis support module. Through the configuration design and analysis module, a machine configuration appropriate for design requirements is selected, and then the arrangement of ribs fer each structural part is decided in the structure design module. Also, the structural analysis support module is used to evaluate design result by utilizing structural analysis software, ANSYS. The system is applied to design of a tapping machine, and shows that the machine structure can be designed fast and conveniently by processing each design step interactively.

  • In this paper, the capability index is introduced in order to improve the reliability of new concept machine tools and the method to improve the machine accuracy from the analysis of cutting process, statistical methodology and influence factors are proposed. In addition, the rib structure of bed and column in machine tools is analyzed by using the thermal impact method in order to analogize the rib pattern which has the small thermal deformation under thermal boundary condition. In the analysis of column rib structure, thermal boundary condition is separated to heat conduction and heat transfer to appropriate real boundary condition. Finally, performance chart of bed and column rib structure is provided for designer to estimate each rib pattern and select rib structure appropriating to thermal condition.

  • Recently, as the demand for high efficiency, multi function machine tools is increasing, domestic machine tool industries are investing in research and development for precision machine tools with high speed. This trend is closely correlated with the design technique which is necessary to make new type machine tool compatible with new production system. To achieve high precision, high speed machine tools with reduced chatter, it is needed to develop dynamically rigid structure. In this paper, dynamic optimization of machine structure is presented. At this procedure of dynamic design, dynamic compliance is minimized using Simple Genetic Algorithm(SGA)

  • To meet the requirements for accuracy, productivity and reliability of machine tools, it is necessary to evaluate the chatter-free machining performance and to improve the dynamic performance of machine tools. In order to perform dynamic design of machine tools reasonably and effectively, the joint parts must be modelled accurately because their characteristics affect significantly on the total characteristics of machine tool. In this paper, an approach which identifies the effect of joint parts on the performance of total machine tool structure was proposed. That uses the experimental modal analysis, the finite element method and the sensitivity analysis method. The effectiveness of this approach was confirmed by applying it to structures with bearing joints. And as a result of the application, the change of dynamic characteristics of bearing joints was indentified.

  • In this paper, main mechanism and measurement method of energy consumption for machine tools are investigated by experiment and simulation. To evaluate total energy consumption of the machine tools, standard test workpiece and measuring method and test procedures are suggested. And, improvement of energy consumption evaluation by the motion kinematics theory is used. In addition, to estimate energy consumption of machine tools in design process, mass distribution of the structure and 5 axis motions are investigated and simulated by numerical analysis.

공작기계 구조물의 전산 모델링 자동화 (FEM Modeling Automation of Machine Tools Structure)

  • The FEM analysis of machine tools is the general analysis process to evaluate machine performance in the industry for a long time. Despite advances in FEM software, because of difficult simplicity of CAD drawing, little experience of joints stiffness modeling and troublesome manual contact area divide for bindings, the industry designers think the FEM analysis is still an area of FEM analysis expert. In this paper, the automation of modeling process with simplicity of drawing, modeling of joints and contact area divide is aimed at easy FEM analysis to enlarge utilization of a virtual machine tools. In order to verify the effects of modeling automation, a slant bed type model with tilting table is analyzed. The results show FEM modeling automation method only needed 45 minutes to complete the whole modeling process, while manual modeling method requires almost one month with 8200 calculations for coordinate transformations and stiffness data input.

  • Recently, as the demand for high efficiency, multi-function machine tools has increased, domestic machine tool industries are investing in research and development for Gantry-Type Machining centers. In this thesis, for the purpose of evaluating machining accuracy and designing a machine tool structure, a simplified model of the main frame is suggested. The results show the general characteristics of the optimum design, and the approach is shown as practicable for the preliminary design analysis and improvement of a conceptual design of a Gantry-Type Machining center. This paper's results are expected to improve the static characteristics of Gantry-Type Machine centers. The three-dimensional finite element models proved that the modeling method might be applied to real machine tool structures.

  • In this study, very accurate computational mechatronics method has been developed for typical N.C. machine model applying to manufacturing industry in these days. Computation analysis of high speed machine tools like N.C. machine needs consideration about mechatronical features because the machine shows close interaction between dynamic behavior of the mechanical structure, drives and numerical control. For this, nonlinear structural analysis tools based on FEM are linked numerical control program to control the dynamic behavior. In this study, we studied the dynamic feature of N.C. machine by using SAMCEF as nonlinear computational structural analysis tool and simulink as drivers.

슬라이딩 커버의 신뢰성 시험 및 구조개선 연구 (A study on the Reliability Experiment and the Structural Improvement of Sliding Cover)

  • Recently, the high-speed and intelligence technology of machine tools are developed for the high efficiency of productivity Under the operating condition from the high-speed of machine tools, the various failure modes can occur in core units of manufacturing system. Therefore it is for the reliability concept of machine tool to be required in a design level. And the above-stated technology must be accommodated in the feeding and spindle subsystem, etc those are the core units of machine tools. In this study, we are developed the test-bed of sliding cover (C-plate) in order to evaluating reliability and estimating failure modes of feeding subsystem under operating conditions. The reliability experiment using the developed test-bed and the additional structural analysis executed on single and double structure. We found out the weak parts of sliding cover and were able to predict a life cycle from the experiment results. In this study, we propose the new C-plate model with double link structure to apply the high-speed machine tool in the fundamental guideline.
