  • In optimizing the layout design of a multi-product assembly environment, tile analysis of the material flow is a vital ingredient. In flexible assembly systems, assembly time is usually very short thus the transfer time is relatively more important Therefore operations sequence must be so determined, that have no backtracking operations as possible as, It is important to form cells, so that they have no intercell movement in curring much processing delay, and to arrange machines as possible as densly. This study presents a independent cell formation method considering operation sequences and machine capacity in flexible assembly systems.

  • 자동차 man-machine system의 interface를 이루는 Display panel, Center fascia, Steering wheel, Rear view, Gear, Power window switch, Seat 등과 이들의 Layout은 운전자의 안전뿐만 아니라, 안락감과 밀접한 부분으로 알려져 있다. 따라서 이러한 설계요소들의 Man-machine interface의 최적화를 위한 인간공학적 접근이 필요하다. 운전자의 안락감은 Seat, Pedal, Steering wheel 등 뿐만 아니라 각종 조작장치(Audio, Switch, Gear,…)도 함께 연구되어야 하다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 실험용 Seating buck을 제작하여 실내 조작장치 중 오디오를 대상으로 터치스크린과 Rapid Prototype을 이용해 사용성 평가에 대한 적합성을 검증하고자 하였다. Rapid Prototyping 기법은 디자인단계에서 제품 사용상의 문제점을 발견 개선할 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 그러나, 본 연구 결과에서 3가지 항목 중 1가지만이 실제 Audio와 Prototype에서 차이가 없었다. 따라서, Prototype의 접촉감과 입체감의 개선, 실사용과 동일한 환경의 제시, 소리와 같은 정확한 반응의 제시, Glare의 제거, 사용자 분석에 따른 실험 데이터의 축적 등을 고려하여 Rapid Prototyping을 구현하여야 할 것이다.

  • This paper considers the workforce assignment problem to minimize both the deviations of workloads assigned to workers and to maximize the total preference between each worker and each machine. Because of the high expense of technology education and the difficulties of firing employees, there is no part time workers in semiconductor industry. Therefore, multi-skilled workers are trained for performing various operations in several machines. The bicriteria workforce assignment problem in this paper is not easy to obtain the optimal solution considering the aisle structure and it is belong to NP-class. The proposed heuristic algorithms are developed based on the combination of spacefilling curve technique, simulated annealing technique and graph theory focusing on the multiple-row machine layout. Examples are presented for the proposed algorithms how to find a good solution.

  • The Cut off-type progressive die for U-bending production part is a very specific division. This study reveals the sheet metal forming process with multi-forming die by Center Carrier type feeding system. Through the FEM simulation by DEFORM, it was accepted to u-bending process as the first performance to design of strip process layout. The next process of die development was studied according to sequence of die development, i.e. die structure, machining condition for die making, die materials, heat treatment of die components, know-how and so on. The feature of this study is the die development of scrapless progressive die of multi-stage through the Modeling on the I-DEAS program, components drawing on the Auto-Lisp, CAD/CAM application, ordinary machine tool operating and revision by tryout.

  • This paper discusses the analysis of flexible manufacturing systmes design using computer simulation method. The simulation language employed is SIMAN which is a powerful tool to model flexible manufacturing systems. The important characteristics of FMS, its design and operational problems, and structures based on the number of NC machine tools and their layout are discussed for the appli- cations of FMS to manufacturing. A new algorithm for forming part families and machine groups has been proposed and its software is also developed. Simulation procedure using SIMAN for analysis of FMS designs is discussed and two design problems are analyzed and evaluated to illustrate systemstic procedure for analysis of FMS.

  • Sophisticated geometric structure analysis must be preceded to create electronic document from logical components extracted from document image. this paper presents a knowledge-based method for sophisticated geometric structure analysis of technical journal pages. The proposed knowledge base encodes geometric characteristics that are not only common in technical journals but also publication-specific in the form rules. The method takes the hybrid of top-down and bottom-up techniques and consists of two phases: region segmentation and identification. Generally, the result of segmentation process does not have a one-to-one matching with composite layout components. Therefore, the proposed method identifies non-text objects such as image, drawing and table, as well as text objects such as text line and equation by splitting or grouping segmented regions into composite layout components. Experimental results with 372 images scanned from the IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence show that the proposed method has performed geometrical structure analysis successfully on more than 99% of the test images, resulting in sophisticated performance compared with previous works.

  • Although there are numerous studies that address the problem of optimal machine grouping and part family classification for cellular manufacturing, little research has been reported that studies the conditions where cellular manufacturing is appropriate. This paper, in order to evaluate and compare the job shop with the GT cellular shop, the performance of those shops were simulated by using SIMAN. We tested the effect of independent variables including changes of product demands, intercell flow level, group setup time, processing time variability, variety of material handling systems, and job properties (ratio of processing time and material handling time). And also performance measures (dependent variables), such as machine utilization, mean flow time, average waiting time, and throughput rate, are discussed. Job shop model and GT cellular shop written in SIMAN simulation language were used in this study. These systems have sixteen machines which are aggregated as five machine stations using the macro feature of SIMAN. The results of this research help to better understand the effect of production factors on the performance of cellular manufacturing systems and to identify some of the necessary conditions required to make these systems perform better than traditional job shops. Therefore, this research represents one more step towards the characterization of shops which may benefit from cellular manufacturing.

  • The progressive die are multiple operations performed by means of a die having above two stages, on the each of stages performs a different operation as the sheet metal passes through the die hole. In the field of design and making tool for press working, the progressive die for sheet metal (STS 304, thickness : 0.5mm) is a specific division. in order to prevent the defects, the optimum design of the production part, strip layout, die design, die making and tryout etc. are necessary. They require analysis of many kinds of important factors, i.e. theory and practice of metal press working and its phenomena, die structure, machining condition for die making, die materials, heat treatment of die components, know-how and so on. In this study, we designed and constructed a progressive die of multi-stage and performed try out. Out of these processes the die development could be taken for advance. Especially the result of tryout and its analysis become the characteristics of this paper (part 1 and part 2) that nothing might be ever seen before such as this type of research method on all the processes. In the part 1 of this study we treated die design mostly.

  • Today most companies are designing their automobile shapes by using 3 dimensional CAD software, CATIA. And they used to design 2 dimensional press dies to do some elastic work on their products, but they are currently trying to make use of 3 dimensional software, Pro-Engineer. In this case, they have to change the 3 dimensional product design data to the proper format data for the following process. This paper will show the data loss and the deformation during data transfer between CATIA and Pro-Engineer, and then suggest a solution for these problems. Product's surface will be automatically placed by automatic press tipping angle setting in CATIA to prevent the product from being stuck m the press die. The 2 dimensional section view which is based on the tipping angle setting is created by Z-map. And, to remove the data loss and the data deformation in Pro-Engineer, the product surface are delivered to the next process after it is changed to the 2 dimensional Z-map curves in CATIA. Finally, this paper suggests an algorithm to develop the automatic design program for the press layout which regenerates product shape surface from the previous process.

Automated infographic recommendation system based on machine learning (기계학습 기반의 인포그래픽 자동 추천 시스템)

  • In this paper, a machine learning-based automatic infographic recommendation system is proposed to improve the existing infographic production method. This system consists of a part that machine learning multiple infographic images and a part that automatically recommends infographics with artificial intelligence only by inputting basic data from the user. The recommended infographics are provided in the form of a library, and additional data can be input by drag & drop method. In addition, the infographic image is designed to be dynamically adjusted according to the size of the input data. As a result of analyzing the machine learning-based automatic infographic recommendation process, the matching success rate for layout and keyword was very high, and the matching success rate for type was rather low. In the future, a study to improve the matching success rate for the image type for each part of the infographic will be needed.
