The food service industry has grown larger with changes in the economic and socio-cultural environment. In this saturated food service industry, generation X and MZ are the main consumer forces that demand attention. That is because a generation is the main psychographic factor that reflects personal values and lifestyle based on one's life cycle. From such a perspective, a generation in marketing has been used as a variable to predict a market by supplementing demographic factors. Accordingly, this study classified generations into generation X and generation MZ with the use of the 2019 consumer behavior survey for food by Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) and then investigated the factors influencing group and personal dining-out expenses. The analysis was carried out applying the Tobit model using SPSS and R. The positively influential variables on generation X's personal dining-out expenditure were male, single person, high income and simple lifestyle, whereas housewives, personal ethical consciousness, behavioral ethical consciousness, and safe dietary life were negatively influential variables. The positively influential variables on generation MZ's personal dining-out expenditures were male, dual-income, high education level, corporate and governmental ethical consciousness, while the number of family members and safe dietary life were negatively influential variables.
The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effect of interest in the elderly job project and resilience in the relationship between social support and retirement readiness of the MZ·X generation. This survey conducted reliability and frequency analysis, t/f-verification, descriptive statistical analysis, and analysis of reliability and frequency using SPSS 27.0 and AMOS 27.0 programs on the collected data of 359 MZ and X generations of G, Y, and A cities in D and G provinces. Analysis was performed using correlation analysis and structural relationship statistics. As a result of the study, first, it was found that there was a significant correlation between the level of interest in the employment project for the elderly, social support, resilience and readiness for old age. Second, in the relationship between social support and retirement readiness, the degree of interest and resilience of the elderly job project were partially mediated. Therefore, in order to increase the MZ and X generations' interest in and resilience in the job projects for the elderly, the provision of emotional, evaluative, informational, and material support systems as a social support system and the elderly in government agencies such as the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family A realistic policy of job business policy is needed.
Smart home is an advanced Internet of Things (IoT) service that enhances the convenience of human daily life and improves the quality of life at home. Recently, with the emergence of smart home products and services to which artificial intelligence (AI) technology is applied, interest in smart home is increasing. To gain a competitive edge in the smart home market, companies are providing "personalized service" to users, which is a key service that can promote smart home use. This study investigates the factors affecting the value awareness of personalized service and intention to use smart home. This research focuses on four-dimensional motivated innovativeness (cognitive, functional, hedonic, and social innovativeness) and privacy risk awareness as key factors that influence the value awareness of personalized service of smart home. In particular, this study conducts a comparative analysis between the generation MZ (young people in late teens to 30s), who are showing socially differentiated characteristics, and the generation X and baby boomers in 40s to 50s or older. Based on the analysis results, this study derives the distinctive characteristics of generation MZ that are different from the older generation, and provides academic and practical implications for expanding the use of smart home services.
This study reviews prior studies on the residential environment characteristics, residential satisfaction, residential ownership consciousness and housing movement of MZ generation and analyze the structural equation models using the 2020 Korea Housing Survey data. Using 14 residential characteristics based on three classifications, we explore the effects on residential satisfaction, residential ownership consciousness, and housing movement. The empirical results are summarized as follows. First, based on factor analysis with Varimax of principal component analysis, parking facility items were excluded from the analysis by hindering validity, and as a result, KMO was 0.925 and Bartlett's test result showed a significant probability of less than 0.01. This indicates that the factor analysis model was suitable. Second, the results of the structural equation analysis for the MZ generation show that the surrounding environment, which is a potential variable of the residential environment characteristics, was statistically significant, but the accessibility and convenience were not statistically significant. Third, we find that the higher the satisfaction with the accessibility of commercial facilities, the more significant the sense of housing ownership appears. This suggests that the younger generation such as the MZ generation has a stronger desire for consumption. Fourth, the overall housing satisfaction of the MZ generation was significant for housing movement, but not for housing ownership. Compared to the industrialized generation, the baby boom generation, and the X generation, MZ generation shows distinct factors for housing satisfaction, housing ownership, and housing movement. Therefore, the residential environment characteristics of the residential survey should be improved and supplemented following the trend of the times. In addition, the government and local governments should prioritize actively participating in the housing market that suits the environment and characteristics of the target generation. Finally, our study provides implications regarding the need for housing-related research on how differ in special temporal situations such as COVID-19 in the future.
Mobility service is a service that connects consumers and suppliers of transportation using information and communication technology (ICT), and aims to reduce inconvenience to users in the current transportation system and increase environmental sustainability. Recently, the use of mobility services is gradually increasing, and interest in it from academia and industry is growing. This study derives key influencing factors related to the increase in intention to use vehicle mobility services, and comparatively analyzes the influences between groups by service type (car-hailing vs. car-sharing services) and by generation (generation MZ vs. generation X). As a result of the comparative study, there were differences in user benefits between service type groups, and differences in user benefits and attitudes toward mobility platforms between generation groups. Through this comparative study, the main factors affecting the increase in the intention to use the vehicle mobility service by generation and service type and their differences were identified. This study provides implications to consider in terms of knowledge management for activating vehicle mobility services according to the major target users and service types.
This study identified and compared family values within and across different generations concerning gender roles, attitudes toward diverse families, children, and parental roles. Data were obtained from the 2020 Seoul Family Report Survey. There were 1,949 study subjects, including first- and second-generation baby boomers and individuals in generations X, Y, and Z in Korea. Latent profile analyses were conducted using M-plus. Perceptions and views concerning family values were classified into different types. The main findings were as follows. Two types were identified among first baby boomers, and three were identified among second baby boomers. Most of the first and second baby boomers belonged to the "moderate" type. Two types were detected among those in Generation X. Regarding gender roles, most views of Generation X were slightly progressive, while their other family values were more moderate. Three types were identified among those in Generation Y: "progressive," "moderate," and "very liberal." Generation Z was identified as a "progressive" group. This study provides basic data to explore the direction of the coexistence of generations by identifying and comparing diverse family values within and across generations.
The objective of this treatise is to explore the limitations of the current navy manpower utilization system and the ways to improve it from the perspective of Generation Z. As Generation Z, following Millennials, has finally come of age, this new group is constituting a gradually greater proportion of military personnel. Due to the typical characteristics of naval operations, the harmony between Millennials and Generation Z, which is differentiated from Generation X in view of dispositions and traits, is one of the essential issues to be discussed. Generally, in a naval vessel, there are numerous pieces of equipment necessary to carry out a wide range of missions and a large number of crew members who operate them with consistent levels of fighting power. This is all while members are living together within the narrow space throughout the 24 hours of each day. Under such particular circumstances, any inter-generational conflicts may have a disruptive effect on the successful accomplishment of naval missions. Currently, new generations of military personnel are facing social difficulties in different aspects compared with the previous generations, and also have different viewpoints on the military. In this regard, in order to foster true harmony between generations, it is considered necessary to take a closer look at the inter-generational differences from their respective standpoints and to examine whether the military organization has taken adequate steps to respond to such changes. Accordingly, Chapters 1 and 2 cover the environments in which Millennials and Generation Z were raised during their childhood to young adulthood, which are distinct from those of older generations, their viewpoints formed based on such backgrounds, and the need to resolve various conflicts between generations. In Chapter 3, the current actions taken by overseas military powers to enhance the coexistence with Generation MZ are analyzed to find the significant implications they had. Chapter 4 examines the operation environments specific to the navy; identifies the potential barriers to achieving harmony between generations by assessing the current status of personnel utilization in the Korean navy in terms of the seaman, petty officer, and the officer, as well as policy; and outlines the solutions to drive harmony. Finally, Chapter 5 emphasizes the need to establish a genuine empathy between generations based on the understanding of unique inter-generational characteristics. Recently, with the MZ generation's entry into society and the social participation of the female population, conflicts are occurring between workplace groups that value WLB and existing groups that emphasize collaboration due to differences in work orientation. Public institutions and companies that utilize work-life balance support systems show differences in job Commitment depending on the nature of the work and the activation of the support system. Accordingly, it is necessary to verify the effectiveness of the WLB support system actually operated by the company and present universally valid standards. The purpose of this study is, first, to verify the effectiveness of the support system for work-life balance and to find practical consensus amid changes in policies and perceptions of the working environment. Second, the influence of work-life balance level and job immersion according to work characteristics was analyzed to verify the mutual influence in order to establish standards for WLB operation that reflects work characteristics. For the study, a 2X2 matrix model was used to analyze the impact of work-life balance and work characteristics on job commitment, and four hypotheses were established. First, analysis of the job involvement level of conflict-type group members, second, analysis of the job involvement level of leading group members, third, analysis of the job involvement level of agreeable group members, and fourth, analysis of the job involvement level of cooperative group members. To conduct this study, an online survey was conducted targeting employees working in public institutions and large corporations. The survey was conducted for a total of 9 days from October 23 to 31, 2023, and 163 people responded, and the analysis was based on a valid sample of 152 people, excluding 11 copies that were insincere responses or gave up midway. As a result of the study's hypothesis testing, first, the conflict type group was found to have the lowest level of job engagement at 1.43. Second, the proactive group showed the highest level of job engagement at 4.54. Third, the conformity group showed a slightly lower level of job involvement at 2.58. Fourth, the cooperative group showed a slightly higher level of job involvement at 3.80. The academic implications of the study are that it subdivides employees' personalities into factors based on the level of work-life balance and nature of work. The practical implications of the study are that it analyzes the effectiveness of WLB support systems operated by public institutions and large corporations by grouping them.
The study confirmed the relationship between attractiveness and suitability in the relationship between the formativeness of creating the artistic form of a virtual influencer who acts as an advertising model, advertising attention, and advertising attitude. To confirm this, the subjects of the study were the MZ generation and X generation, which have a high rate of SNS use. The analysis method used SPSS statistics 27.0 and SPSS process macro version. The research results are as follows. First, it was confirmed that attractiveness and suitability fully mediate the relationship between formativeness and advertising attention. In the path of formativeness and advertising attention, the total effect was found to be higher than the direct effect, and it was confirmed that there was a double parallel mediation effect through attractiveness and suitability in the relationship between the formativeness of virtual influencers and advertising attention. Second, it was confirmed that formativeness affects the mediating variable, attractiveness, but attractiveness does not affect attitude toward advertising. Since formativeness affects suitability and suitability in turn influences attitude toward advertising, it was confirmed that there is a full mediating effect between these variables. According to these results, the parallel mediating effect of attractiveness and formativeness was not confirmed in the relationship between formativeness and attitude towards advertising. The above study is significant in that it presents academic implications and practical implications by examining the dual and parallel mediating effects of attractiveness and suitability in the relationship between formativeness, advertising attention, and advertising attitude variables, which are considered in the production of virtual influencers.
