In the case of laptops and tablet PC's that replace desktop, it uses the Windows operating system to provide various functions depending on operating system dependency, the Windows operating system does not support real-time processing because it uses multi-level feedback queue scheduling that extends round-robin scheduling. Also, since the initial value of Local APIC Counter can not be obtained from the Windows 8, the real-time processing function provided through the existing RTiK does not work. In this paper, we calculate Local APIC Counter value by using MSR_FSB_FREQ register to support real-time processing function on tablet PC's. We designed and implemented RTiK+, which provides real-time processing function to guarantee the periodicity by calculating the operation time of accurate timer. In order to verify and evaluate the performance of the implemented the RTiK+, the period was measured by using the Read Time-Stamp Counter(RDTSC) instruction and it was confirmed that it operates normally at 1ms and 0.1ms period.
The heat transfer and thermal stress-distribution were numerically determined by using the finite element method for a butt-welded pipe. A mechanical stress relieving(MSR) treatment which has been frequently used in the fabrication of pressure vessels instead of the post weld heat treatment (PWHT) was also simulated to investigate its effect of reducing the residual stress in the welded zone by a mechanical loading.
A polystyrene phantom was developed following the guidance of the International Atomic Energy Association (IAEA) for gamma knife (GK) quality assurance. Its performance was assessed by measuring the absorbed dose rate to water and dose distributions. The phantom was made of polystyrene, which has an electron density (1.0156) similar to that of water. The phantom included one outer phantom and four inner phantoms. Two inner phantoms held PTW T31010 and Exradin A16 ion chambers. One inner phantom held a film in the XY plane of the Leksell coordinate system, and another inner phantom held a film in the YZ or ZX planes. The absorbed dose rate to water and beam profiles of the machine-specific reference (msr) field, namely, the 16 mm collimator field of a GK PerfexionTM or IconTM, were measured at seven GK sites. The measured results were compared to those of an IAEA-recommended solid water (SW) phantom. The radius of the polystyrene phantom was determined to be 7.88 cm by converting the electron density of the plastic, considering a water depth of 8 g/cm2. The absorbed dose rates to water measured in both phantoms differed from the treatment planning program by less than 1.1%. Before msr correction, the PTW T31010 dose rates (PTW Freiberg GmbH, New York, NY, USA) in the polystyrene phantom were 0.70 (0.29)% higher on average than those in the SW phantom. The Exradin A16 (Standard Imaging, Middleton, WI, USA) dose rates were 0.76 (0.32)% higher in the polystyrene phantom. After msr correction factors were applied, there were no statistically significant differences in the A16 dose rates measured in the two phantoms; however, the T31010 dose rates were 0.72 (0.29)% higher in the polystyrene phantom. When the full widths at half maximum and penumbras of the msr field were compared, no significant differences between the two phantoms were observed, except for the penumbra in the Y-axis. However, the difference in the penumbra was smaller than variations among different sites. A polystyrene phantom developed for gamma knife dosimetry showed dosimetric performance comparable to that of a commercial SW phantom. In addition to its cost effectiveness, the polystyrene phantom removes air space around the detector. Additional simulations of the msr correction factors of the polystyrene phantom should be performed.
Forty-two single-bearing and 42 twin-bearing mature Angus${\times}$Hereford cows were allocated, seven per cell to 3 replications of 2 stocking rates (3.2 cows/ha; medium stocking rate [MSR], and 3.8 cows/ha; high stocking rate [HSR]) to graze summer-active and winter-active pastures from late pregnancy to the weaning of their calves. Cow liveweights and growth of calves were recorded as well as estimates of pasture quantity and forage intake. Pasture quantity did not differ in the paddocks grazed by single- and twin-bearing cows during pregnancy, nor effectively did forage intake. Subsequently, intake was higher during mid-lactation especially with twin-rearing cows (25% higher than single-rearing cows at the MSR; 9% at the HSR). However, quantity of pasture decreased for twin-rearing cows and was less than that available to single-rearing cows as lactation progressed. Liveweights of twinrearing cows decreased by 16% from late pregnancy to weaning at the MSR, and by 14% at the HSR, compared to decreases of 1% for single-rearing cows. Twin calves were lighter at birth, had slower growth rates, and were lighter at weaning than single calves. In spite of weaning smaller calves twinning increased the output (kg of calf weaned) per cow and per ha, and increased the efficiency (kg calf weaned per unit of forage eaten by the cow) over single calf production by 46% at the MSR and by 58% at the HSR. Twinning also increased the marginal returns from investment in high input pastures required by the enterprise.

Human methionine sulfoxide reductase B3A (hMsrB3A) is an endoplasmic reticulum (ER) reductase that catalyzes the stereospecific reduction of methionine-R-sulfoxide to methionine in proteins. In this work, we identified an antimicrobial peptide from hMsrB3A protein. The N-terminal ER-targeting signal peptide (amino acids 1-31) conferred an antimicrobial effect in Escherichia coli cells. Sequence and structural analyses showed that the overall positively charged ER signal peptide had an Argand Pro-rich region and a potential hydrophobic ${\alpha}$-helical segment that contains 4 cysteine residues. The potential ${\alpha}$-helical region was essential for the antimicrobial activity within E. coli cells. A synthetic peptide, comprised of 2-26 amino acids of the signal peptide, was effective at killing Gram-negative E. coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Salmonella paratyphi, but had no bactericidal activity against Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus.
Nanocrystalline powders of $MnFeP_{1-x}As_x$(x=0.45-0.6) have been synthesized by mechanochemical reaction at room temperature using high-energy ball milling from mixtures of Mn, Fe, P, and As Powders. It has been found that a mechanically induced self-propagating reaction (MSR) occurs within 2 hours of milling and it produces very fine polycrystalline powder having a hexagonal $Fe_2P$ structure. Further milling up to 24 hours did not change the crystalline and average particle sizes or the phase composition of the milling product. When x is 0.65, no reaction among the reactants has been observed even after 24 hours of milling. As the P content decreases in $MnFeP_{1-x}As_x$, the incubation time for the MSR has increased and the lattice constants in both a and c axes have changed.
The Korean Institute of Technology Satellite (KITSAT-1) is the first satellite developed by the Satellite Technology Research Center and the University of Surrey. KITSAT-1 is orbiting the Earth's orbit as space debris with a 1,320 km altitude after the planned mission. Due to its relatively small size and altitude, tracking the KITSAT-1 was a difficult task. In this research, we analyzed the tracking results of KITSAT-1 for one year using the Midland Space Radar (MSR) in Texas and the Poker Flat Incoherent Scatter Radar (PFISR) in Alaska operated by LeoLabs, Inc. The tracking results were analyzed on a weekly basis for MSR and PFISR. The observation was conducted by using both stations at an average frequency of 10 times per week. The overall corrected range measurements for MSR and PFISR by LeoLabs were under 50 m and 25 m, respectively. The ionospheric delay, the dominant error source, was confirmed with the International Reference of Ionosphere-16 model and Global Navigation Satellite System data. The weekly basis orbit determination results were compared with two-line element data. The comparison results were used to confirm the orbital consistency of the estimated orbits.
Seventy cases of open heart surgery were performed in the department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Pusan Paik Hospital, Inje College, from Oct. 1985 to Oct. 1986. And the results were summarized as follows. 1. Among the 70 cases, there were 48 cases of congenital heart anomalies and 22 cases of acquired rheumatic valvular heart diseases. Age range of the congenital patients was 7 months to 31 years with the mean age of 10 years, and the acquired patients was 18 to 62 years with the mean age of 40 years. 2. The heart-lung machine used for cardiopulmonary bypass was Sarns 7000, 5-head roller pump, and the number and type of oxygenators were 5 of membrane type and 65 of bubble type. For all cases GIK [glucose-insulin-potassium] solution was used as cardioplegic solution for myocardial protection during operation. 3. Among the 48 congenital anomalies, there were 12 cases of ASD group, 29 of VSD group, 3 of ECD, 3 of TOF and one of PDA + MR, and to all of which the appropriate radical operations were applied. 4. Super fine-grained graphite is a type of advanced nuclear graphite which was developed for Molten Salt Reactor (MSR). It is necessary to establish a failure assessment method used for nuclear graphite components in MSR. A modified assessment approach based on ASME BPVC-III-5_2017 is presented. The new approach takes a new parameter, KIC, into account and abandons the parameter, grain size, which is unrealistic for super fine-grained graphite as the computation is enormous if we use conventional methods. Three methodologies (KTA 3232, ASME, New approach) were also evaluated by theoretical prediction and experimental verification. The results indicated the new developed code can be used for design and failure assessment of super fine-graphite components and has more extensive applicability.
In previous study, the decrease and recovery of total stiffness in welded structure was discussed on the basis of experimental examination through tensile loading and unloading test of welded specimen. The recovery of structure stiffness was caused by the release of welding residual stress through mechanical loading. In this study, analysis model that is indispensable for the effective application of MSR method was established on the basis of test and measurement result. Thermal elasto-plastic analysis for welding process was performed by non- coupled analysis. Analysis results of welding process were transfer to elasto-plastic model for tensile loading & unloading by restart technique. In elasto-plastic analysis model for mechanical loading & unloading, hardening appearance of weld metal was considered by rezoning technique and tying technique was used for JIG condition of test machine.
