  • 본 논문에서는 CMOS로 구현된 3.3V 8-bit 200MSPS의 Folding / Interpolation 구조의 A/D 변환기를 제안한다. 회로에 사용된 구조는 FR(Folding Rate)이 8, NFB(Number of Folding Block)가 4, Interpolation rate 이 8이며, 분산 Track and Hold 구조를 회로를 사용하여 Sampling시 입력주파수를 Hold하여 높은 SNDR을 얻을 수 있었다. 고속동작과 저 전력 기능을 위하여 향상된 래치와 디지털 Encoder를 제안하였고 지연시간 보정을 위한 회로도 제안하였다. 제안된 ADC는 0.35㎛, 2-Poly, 3-Metal, n-well CMOS 공정을 사용하여 제작되었으며, 유효 칩 면적은 1070㎛×650㎛ 이고, 3.3V전압에서 230mW의 전력소모를 나타내었다. 입력 주파수 10MHz, 샘플링 주파수 200MHz에서의 INL과 DNL은 ±1LSB 이내로 측정되었으며, SNDR은 43㏈로 측정되었다.

  • Specific capacitance and charge-discharge rate of EDLC using activated carbon electrode were affected by the compositions of electrolytes, the conditions of charge-discharge and physical properties of activated carbon materials. The activated carbon electrode was prepared by dip coating method. Charge-discharge test and electrochemical experiments were carried out for various kinds of organic electrolytes. Effects of charge and discharge current density on the specific capacitance were studied. Characteristics of leakage current, self-discharge and time-voltage curves in optimum conditions of organic electrolytes were compared with conventional $1M-Et_4NBF_4/PC$ electrolyte. The EDLC using MSP-20(specific surface area: $2000m^2/g$) electrode and $1M-LiPF_6/PC-DEC(1:1)$ was exhibited th highest specific capacitance of 130F/g and low polarization resistances. The EDLC using MSP-20 electrode at $1M-LiPF_6/PC-DEC(1:1)$ was small leak current of 0.0004A for 15min, long voltage retention of 0.8V after 100h and linear time-voltage curves with small IR-drop.

A Study on Double Angle of Optic Foramen in the Rhese Method (Rhese법 촬영에서 시신경구멍의 이중 각도에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to confirm the double of optic foramen in Korean and apply it to the Rhese method. First, the angle between the right optic foramen and the MSP was measured on the axial image using MPR technique of the 3D CT. Second, we measured the angle between the right optic foramen and OML in sagittal of MPR images. As a result, the angle between the optic foramen and the MSP was $39.9{\pm}4.63^{\circ}$ on average, which was different from the $53^{\circ}$ presented by Rhese method(p<0.05). The angle between optic foramen and OML was $40.8{\pm}6.6^{\circ}$. In conclusion, this study confirms that the standard of the Rhese method proposed in current textbook is difficult to apply to Koreans. Therefore, it is necessary to study angle of Korean standard in various general x-ray technique.

  • In 2003 to 2005, the root rot of Japanese angelica (Aralia elata) was surveyed in nursery beds of Korea, where incidence of the disease often reached up to 100%. Three isolates were obtained from the infected roots, and identified as Phytophthora cactorum on the basis of cultural, morphological characteristics and molecular analysis. The isolates were characterized by having markedly papillate and broadly ovoid deciduous sporangia. The optimum temperature for mycelium growth was at $25^{\circ}C$ on V8 juice agar. Pathogenicity of the isolates was confirmed by soil mixture inoculation. Approximately 900 bp of ITS rDNA was amplified from all 3 isolates and band pattern of restriction fragments observed by Alu I, Msp I, and Taq I digestion also supported the result of the morphological identification when compared with PhytID database.

Nucleotide Sequencing and PCR-RFLP of Insulin-like Growth Factor Binding Protein-3 Gene in Riverine Buffalo (Bubalus bubalis)

  • Insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3) gene is a structural gene associated with the growth and development of the animals. The present investigation was carried out to unravel nucleotide sequence and polymerase chain reactionrestriction fragment polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) of IGFBP-3 gene in buffalo. Genomic DNA was isolated from a total of 157 animals belonging to Murrah, Surti, Jaffarabadi and Nagpuri breeds of Indian riverine buffalo. A 655 bp of IGFBP-3 gene was amplified in all the breeds and amplicons were digested with Hae III, Taq I and Msp I restriction enzymes. On digestion with Hae III yielded single restriction pattern of 8 fragments of sizes 201, 165, 154, 56, 36, 19, 16 and 8 bp in all the animals studied. Similarly Taq I and Msp I also revealed single restriction pattern yielding fragments of sizes 240 and 415 bp and 145 and 510 bp, respectively. This shows nonpolymorphic nature of restriction sites in buffalo. Nucleotide sequencing of 587 bp of IGFBP-3 gene in Murrah buffalo was done and submitted to the GenBank (Accession No. AY304829). Nucleotide sequencing revealed an addition of 4 bases in the intronic region as compared to cattle.

Recovery and Separation of Nickel from the Spent Ni-Cd Batteries (폐 Ni-Cd전지로부터 Ni의 분리 및 회수에 관한 연구)

  • Consumption of nickel is continuously increasing and the wastes of secondary battery, ferrite and catalyst containing Ni are also generated periodically. Among those wastes, the aim of this research is the recovery of nickel from used Ni-Cd recharge battery. Battery consisted of Ni 24 wt%, Fe 30 wt% and Cd 18.5 wt%. Metal was recovered by solvent extraction after leaching. Cadmium was leached completely in 1N-HCl and Ni was recovered above 70%. 30 vol% MSP-8 separated Cd and Ni completely from acidic leaching solution. In addition $NH_4NO_3$ as one of ammonium salt type leachants showed an excellent leaching selectivity to Ni and Cd. Ni in leached solution was recovered completely by LIX-extractant and more than 70% of Cd in raffinate was by D2EHPA.

  • Insulin-like growth factors (IGF-1 and IGF-2) play an important regulatory role in premplantation embryonic development. To study the role of IGF-1 during premplantation embryonic development in mouse, the presence of mRNA transcripts for IGF-1 and IGF-lR in the oocytes and preimplantation embryos was examined. In this study, the transcripts of IGF-1 was detected in oocytes using primers for IGF-1. The PCR products were identified by Msp I restriction enzyme digest. We revealed that the transcripts of IGF-1 and IGF-1R were presented in the oocytes and preimplantation embryos. The highest mRNA levels in GV stage oocytes were decreased at 4- or 8-cell stage and then reincreased upto blastocyst. The presence of IGF-1 and IGF-lR in GV-oocytes suggests that the transcripts in the early stage embryos were derived from maternal genome. Additionally, the presence of IGF-1 and IGF-lR in the oocytes and preimplantation embryos suggests that IGF-1 plays an autocrine role during preimplantation embryonic development through IGF-lR as a signalling pathway.

  • In this paper, an 1.8V 8-bit 500MSPS CMOS A/D Converter is proposed. In order to obtain the resolution of 8bits and high-speed operation, a Cascaded-Folding Cascaded-Interpolation type architecture is chosen. For the purpose of improving SNR, Cascaded-folding Cascaded-interpolation technique, distributed track and hold are included [1]. A novel folding circuit, a novel Digital Encoder, a circuit to reduce the Reference Fluctuation are proposed. The chip has been fabricated with a $0.18{\mu}m$ 1-poly 5-metal n-well CMOS technology. The effective chip area is $1050{\mu}m{\times}820{\mu}m$ and it dissipates about 146mW at 1.8V power supply. The INL and DNL are within ${\pm}1LSB$, respectively. The SNDR is about 43.72dB at 500MHz sampling frequency.

Three dimensional analysis of tooth movement using different types of maxillary molar distalization appliances (간접골성 고정원을 이용한 상악 구치부 원심이동 장치 종류에 따른 치아 이동 양상 평가)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the three dimensional changes of tooth movement using four different types of maxillary molar distalization appliances; pendulum appliance (PD), mini-implant supported pendulum appliance (MPD), stainless steel open coil spring (SP) and mini-implant supported stainless steel open coil spring (MSP). Methods: These experiments were performed using the Calorific $machine^{(R)}$ which can simulate dynamic tooth movement. Computed tomography (CT) images of the experimental model were taken before and after tooth movement in 1 mm thicknesses and reconstructed into a three dimensional model using V-works $4.0^{TM}$. These reconstructed images were superimposed using Rapidform $2004^{TM}$ and the direction and amount of tooth movement were measured. Results: The mean reciprocal anchor loss ratio at the first premolar was 17 - 19% for the PD and SP groups. The appliances using mini-implants (MPD or MSP) resulted in less anchorage loss (7 - 8%). On application of a pendulum appliance or MPD, distalization was obtained by tipping rather than by bodily movement. Furthermore, the maxillary second molar tipped distally and bucally. But on application of MSP, distalization was achieved almost by bodily movement. Conclusions: Regarding tooth movement patterns during molar distalization, stainless steel open coil spring with indirect skeletal anchorage was relatively superior to other methods.
