막결합형 연속회분식 생물반응조에서 여과 및 공기공급용으로 분리막을 사용할 때 공기공급이 막여과 성능에 미치는 영향 (Filtration Performance in MSBR (Membrane-Coupled Sequencing Batch Reactor) using a Membrane for Both Filtration and Aeration)

  • An MSBR using a membrane for not only filtration but also aeration (MA-MSBR) was designed to reduce membrane fouling and to enhance water quality, and compared with an MSBR using a membrane for only filtration (BA-MSBR). COD removal efficiency of the MA-MSBR was similar to that of the BA-MSBR, but membrane performance of the MA-MSBR was better than that of the BA-MSBR. The MA-MSBR had more small particles in mixed liquor, so the specific cake resistance of flocs in the MA-MSBR was higher than that in the BA-MSBR. However, in the aerobic reaction step of the MA-MSBR, air went through membrane pores and out of the membrane surface, so cake layers on the membrane surface and a portion of organics adsorbed on membrane pores could be removed periodically. Therefore, cake resistance, $R_c$, and fouling resistance by adsorption and blocking, $R_f$, for the MA-MSBR increased more slowly than those for the BA-MSBR. Additionally, in order to compare the energy efficiency for two MSBRs, oxygen transfer efficiency and power to supply air into the reactor by a membrane module and a bubble stone diffuser were measured using deionized water. From these measurements, the transferred oxygen amount per unit energy was calculated, resulting that of MA-MSBR was slightly higher than that of BA-MSBR.

  • 본 연구에서는 막결합형 연속회분석공정(MSBR)을 이용한 크루즈선 오 폐수처리장치 개발을 위하여 기초 실험을 수행하였다. MSBR 공정을 평가하기 위하여 SBR, MBR, MSBR system을 Lab scale로 제작하여 처리 효율과 크루즈선이라는 특수환경과의 접목성을 비교 운영하였으며, 검토 결과 MSBR 공정은 처리효율과 장치 운영면에서 선박이라는 특수한 환경에 가장 적합한 공정으로 평가되었다. MSBR의 system의 BOD 제거 효율은 99%, COD 제거 효율은 98%, SS 제거 효율은 99%로 나타내었으며 유기물, 영양염류, 병원성 미생물 처리에 있어 모두 안정적인 효율을 나타내며 IMO의 규제 기준을 모두 만족하였다.

Denitrifying PAO와 SBBR-MSBR을 이용한 생물학적영양소제거공정에서 탄소원 절약에 대한 연구 (Evaluation of COD Utilization for Biological Nutrient Removal with dPAO in SBBR-MSBR System)

  • The combined system of sequencing batch biofilm reactor (SBBR) and membrane SBR (MSBR) was operated with sewage to evaluate the COD utilization for biological nutrient removal (BNR). The SBBR was operated for nitrification reactor, while denitrifying PAO (dPAO) was cultivated in MSBR with anaerobic-anoxic operation. In the SBBR and MSBR system, the enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) was successfully achieved with higher N removal. The COD utilization in combined SBBR-MSBR system was significantly reduced compared to ordinary BNR (up to 3.1 g SCOD/g (N+P) and 1.6 g SCOD/g (N+P) with different C/N/P ratio). The results suggest that a dPAO process could effectively reduce carbon energy (=COD) requirement. The combination of oxic-SBBR and anaerobic-anoxic MSBR for dPAO utilization could be an attractive alternative to upgrade the process performance in weak sewage.

  • 본 연구는 크루즈선에 적합한 생물학적 오 폐수처리장치 개발을 위하여 SBR, MBR, MSBR 공정을 Lab scale 실험을 수행하여 오염물 처리 효율과 크루즈선이라는 특수 환경과의 접목성을 검토한 결과 MSBR공정이 처리효율과 장치 운영 면에서 가장 적합한 공정으로 평가되었다. MSBR 공정은 처리 대상 물질이 특정 성분에 국한 되지 않고 유기물, 영양염류, 병원성 미생물 처리에 있어 모두 안정적인 효율을 나타내었으며, 소요용적 및 장치의 운영 면에서도 우수한 결과를 나타내어 선박이라는 특수한 현장 적용에 매우 유리한 공정으로 확인되었다. MSBR 공정의 BOD, COD 및 SS 제거 효율은 99%, 98%, 99%로 나타나 IMO의 규제 기준을 모두 만족하였으며, 총질소와 인의 제거 효율도 76%, 59%로 강화되어 가는 해양오염기준을 충만족시킬 수 있는 공정으로 판단되었다.

  • 스펀지 형태의 담체가 첨가된 침지형 막결합 연속회분식 생물반응기에서 담체가 제거효율과 여과성능에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 담체는 반응기 부피 기준으로 각각 5%, 10% 및 20% 첨가하였고, 담체를 첨가하지 않은 반응기를 대조군으로 하였다. COD, T-N 및 T-P에 대한 제거효율은 담체 첨가 유무에 관계없이 큰 차이가 없었다. 그러나 담체를 첨가한 경우, 첨가하지 않은 경우에 비해 조업시간에 따른 막간차압(TMP)은 매우 서서히 증가하였다. 이러한 결과는 폭기에 의해 상승하는 담체가 막 표면과 충돌하게 되고, 이때 막 표면에 형성된 케이크 층을 제거시키기 때문이다. 결론적으로 담체가 첨가된 막결합형 연속회분식 생물반응기는 담체가 없는 반응기에 비해 여과성능이 크게 개선되어, 폐수처리에 효과적으로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

MSBR 공정에서 전기전도도를 이용한 인 제거 자동제어시스템 - 현장 적용 중심 - (Automatic T-P Coagulation Control System using an EC in the MSBR Process - Full Scale Study -)

  • Many sewage treatment plants have applied the advanced technology of chemical coagulant system to remove phosporus in Korea. However there are some problems for the injection of optimum coagulant dosage. In order to solve these problems, the research related to the more cost-effective automatic total phosphorus coagulation control system using an EC(Electrical Conductivity) have been in progress. This study was conducted by the same process and operation method as the Lab-scale for public small town sewage treatment plant. First, it confirmed the correlation among the EC, PO4-P and coagulant dosage in the Lab-scale MSBR(Membrane Sequencing Batch Reactor) process. Next, it analyzed that correlation coefficient of EC and the coagulant dosage was 0.92 in the Full-scale MSBR process. As a result, not only T-P removal efficiency was doubled but also it satisfied the effluent water quality standard in a stable manner. In addition, by applying the automatic control system using the EC, compared to the fixed coagulant injection system the coagulant dosage could be reduced by 28%.

막결합 연속회분식 반응기를 이용한 농촌마을 하수의 고도처리 (Membrane-Coupled Sequencing Batch Reactor System for the Advanced Treatment of Rural Village Sewage)

  • C/N 비가 낮은 농촌마을 하수의 고도처리를 위하여 $0.4{\mu}m$의 세공크기를 갖고 있는 평막이 침지된 연속회분식 반응기를 사용하였다. 분말활성탄의 투입, 폭기량 및 유입 유기물 농도가 처리효율과 여과 성능에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 54일 이내의 조업 초기에서는 C/N 비가 증가할수록 COD, T-N 및 T-P의 제거율과 MLSS 농도는 증가하였다. 조업 89일 후의 COD, T-N 및 T-P의 제거율은 각각 97.1%, 75.0% 및 48.3%이었다. 막여과에 의해 처리수에서 SS는 검출되지 않았으며, T-P의 제거율이 낮게 나온 이유는 과잉의 슬러지를 배출하지 않았기 때문이다. 분말활성탄을 투여한 경우 조업이 진행됨에 따라 분말활성탄의 혼합강도와 충돌빈도가 증가하여 슬러지의 입자크기가 감소하였으며, 이로 인해 분말활성탄을 투여하지 않은 경우에 비해 TMP 상승이 크게 나타났다.

  • Preliminary results of the dynamic analysis of a two-fluid molten-salt breeder reactor (MSBR) system are presented. Based on an earlier work on the preliminary dynamic model of the concept, the model presented here is nonlinear and has been revised to accurately reflect the design exemplified in ORNL-4528. A brief overview of the model followed by results from simulations performed to validate the model is presented. Simulations illustrate stable behavior of the reactor dynamics and temperature feedback effects to reactivity excursions. Stable and smooth changes at various nodal temperatures are also observed. Control strategies for molten-salt reactor operation are discussed, followed by an illustration of the open-loop load-following capability of the molten-salt breeder reactor system. It is observed that the molten-salt breeder reactor system exhibits "self-regulating" behavior, minimizing the need for external controller action for load-following maneuvers.

Decolorization kinetics and characteristics of the azo dye acid red 18 in MSBR system at various HRTs and SRTs

  • The present work aimed to study the decolorization kinetics and characteristics of a selected azo dye under the influence of two key operational parameters including hydraulic retention time (HRT) and solid retention time (SRT). The decolorization efficiency and the two important criteria of k and normalized k (k/MLSS) were evaluated in lab-scale membrane sequencing batch reactors (MSBRs) at various HRTs of 48, 24 and 16 h (with constant SRT) and in addition, at various SRTs of infinity, 40 and 10 d (with constant HRT). According to the obtained results, both zero and first-order kinetics were properly fitted the decolorization profiles of the selected azo dye in all of the applied HRTs and SRTs. Increase of both HRT and SRT positively affected the decolorization efficiency. More MLSS concentrations corresponded to the lower HRTs and the higher SRTs resulted in higher decolorization rate constants (k). However, the effect of reducing the HRT was not compensated by increase of the MLSS concentration in order to reach higher decolorization efficiency. In addition, increase of the decolorization efficiency, as a consequence of the higher MLSS concentrations at longer SRTs, was restrained by decrease of the time-limited decolorization capability of biomass (represented by normalized k). Evaluation of both k and normalized k is suggested in order to have a more precise study on the decolorization kinetics and characteristics.
