  • Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) techniques play a big role in improving the efficiency of photovoltaic (PV) system. Among various schemes, the incremental conductance (INC) method is mostly discussed in literature because of its fast response to the rapid irradiation changes and high tracking accuracy. However, the existing INC algorithm has trade-offs between fast dynamic response and steady state stability. This study proposes a novel INC method to meet high efficiency and fast tracking performance at the same time.

  • As the maximum power operating point (MPOP) of photovoltaic (PV) power generation systems changes with varying atmospheric conditions such as solar radiation and temperature, an important consideration in the design of efficient PV system is to track the MPOP correctly. Although the efficiency of these Maximum Power Point Tracking algorithms is usually high, it drops noticeably in case of rapidly changing atmospheric conditions. This paper describes common MPPT control algorithm: Constant Voltage Control, Perturbation and Observation(P&O), Incremental Conductance (IncCnd) and proposes a new MPPT algorithm based on P&O algorithm. The conception and control principles of the proposed MPPT method are explained in detail and its validity of the proposed method is verified through several simulated results. As it doesn't use digital signal processor, this MPPT method has the merits of both a cost efficiency and a simple control circuit design. Therefore, it is considered that the proposed MPPT method is proper to low power, low cost PV applications.

  • Generally, wind industry has been oriented to large power systems which require large windy areas and often need to overcome environment restrictions. However, small-scale wind turbines are closer to the consumers and have a large market potential, and much more efforts are required to become economically attractive. In this paper, a prototype of a small-scale urban wind generation system for battery charging application is described and a fuzzy logic based MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) algorithm which can be effectively applied to urban wind turbine system is proposed. Through Matlab based simulation studies and actual implementation using DSP of the proposed algorithm, the feasibility of the proposed scheme is verified.

  • The parameter K which decides how much to convert wind energy to electric energy in MPPT(maximum power point tracking) control of wind turbine system using torque controller is changed because blade shape and air density change. If the parameter K is not optimal value, power lose occur. The changed parameter K is important issue in wind turbine system. In this paper, to solve this problem, considering wind turbine system using back-to-back converter control and torque control, we propose the adaptive MPPT algorithm which performs fast control by using initial K, estimates mechanical power using Kalman filter method, uses the estimated mechanical power as input for MPPT algorithm again, and consequently performs optimal MPPT control.

  • This paper presents the new maximum power point tracking(MPPT) control of the photovoltaic(PV) module integrated converter(MIC) system considering the shadow influence. The output characteristics of the solar cell is a nonlinear and affected by a temperature, the solar radiation and influence of a shadow. Particularly, MIC system is very sensitive to the shadow influence because the capacity is very small. In order to increase an output and efficiency of the solar power generation, the maximum power point(MPP) obeying control are necessary. Conventional perturbation and observation(PO) and Incremental conductance(IC) are the method finding MPP by the continued self-excitation vibration. The MPPT control is unable to be performed by rapid output change affected by the shadow. To solve this problem, the new control algorithm of the multi-level in which the step value changes by output change is presented. In case there are the solar radiation, a temperature and shadow influence, the presented algorithm treats and compares the conventional control algorithm and output error. In addition, the validity of the algorithm is proved. through the output error response characteristics.

  • This paper presents an Neural Network(NN) controller for Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) of PV supplied DC motor. A variation of solar irradiation is most important factor in the MPPT of PV system. That is nonlinear, aperiodic and complicated. NN was widely used due to easily solving a complex math problem. Proposed photovoltaic system consists of NN, DC-DC converter, DC motor and load(cf, pump). NN algorithm apply to DC-DC converter through an Adaptive control of Neural Network, calculates Converter-Chopping ratio using an Adaptive control of NN. The results of an Adaptive control of NN compared with the results of Converter-Chopping ratio which are calculated mathematical modeling and evaluate the proposed algorithm. The experimental data show that an adequacy of the algorithm was established through the compared data.

  • Photovoltaic (PV) systems are influenced by disproportionate impacts on energy production caused by frequent mismatch cases. The occurrence of multiple maximum power points (MPPs) adds complexity to the tracking process in various PV systems. However, current maximum-power point tracking (MPPT) techniques exhibit limited performance. This paper introduces an enhanced simulated annealing (ESA)-based GMPPT technique against multiple MPP issues in P-V curve with different PV system structures. The proposed technique not only distinguishes global and local MPPs but also performs rapid convergence speed and high tracking accuracy of irradiance changing and restart capability detection. Moreover, the proposed global maximum power tracking algorithm can be applied in the central converter of DMPPT and hybrid PV system to meet various application scenarios. Its effectiveness is verified by simulation and test results.

The proposed Maximum Power Point Tracking(MPPT) control has the advantage to provide a new simple way to approximate the optimal or rated voltage, the optimal or rated current and maximum power rating produced by a solar panel and the photovoltaic inverter. And this straightforward method will be named linear reoriented coordinates method(LRCM) with the advantage that Pmax and $V_{op}$ can be approximated using the satre variable as the dynamic model without using complicate approximations or Taylor series. Furthermore tracking method is improved over 50% photovoltaic efficiency. This paper is proposed MPPT using LRMC and tracking method using weather condition of domestic moderate program technique. • In this paper, a novel MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) algorithm for power of PV(Photovoltaic) systems is presented using a boost converter for a connected single phase inverter. On the basic principle of power generation for the PV(photovoltaic) module, the model of a PV system is presented. On the basis of this model, simulation of this PV system and algorithms for maximum power point tracking are described by utilizing a boost converter to adjust the output voltage of the PV module. Based on output power of a boost converter, single phase inverter uses predicted current control to control four IGBT#s switch in full bridge. Furthermore, a low cost control system for solar energy conversion using the DSP is developed, based on the boost converter to adjust the output voltage of the PV module. The effectiveness of the proposed inverter system is confirmed experimentally and by means of simulation. Finally, experimental results confirm the superior performance of the proposed method.
