  • As the maximum power operating point(MPOP) of photovoltaic(PV) power generation systems changes with changing atmospheric conditions such as solar radiation and temperature, an important consideration in the design of efficient PV system is to track the MPOP correctly. Many maximum power point tracking(MPPT) techniques have been considered in the past, however, techniques using microprocessors with appropriate MPPT algorithms are favored because of their flexibility and compatibility with different PV arrays. Although the efficiency of these MPPT algorithms is usually high, it drops noticeably in case of rapidly changing atmospheric conditions. This paper analysed and researched the characteristics of three MPPT algorithms; P&O, Inc&Cond, ImP&O and simulated them with irradiance changing.

  • This paper describes a battery charger using photovoltaic energy harvesting with MPPT control. The proposed circuit harvests maximum power from a PV(photovoltaic) cell by employing MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) control and charges an external battery with the harvested energy. The charging state of the battery is controlled according to the signals from a battery management circuit. The MPPT control is implemented using linear relationship between the open-circuit voltage of a PV cell and its MPP voltage such that a pilot PV cell can track the MPP of a main PV cell in real time. The proposed circuit is designed in a $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS process technology and its functionality has been verified through extensive simulations. The maximum efficiency of the designed entire system is 86.2% and the chip area including pads is $1.35mm{\times}1.2mm$.

  • The power generated by a Photovoltaic(PV) cell depends on the operating voltage of the array, its voltage-current and voltage-power characteristic curves specify a unique operating point at which maximum possible power is delivered and the array is operated at its highest efficiency. PSCAD/EMTDC, which is a simulation tool for the transient analysis of an electric power system, was used to simulate the PV Cell system. So, in this paper, the PV cell components of the PSCAD/EMTDC were developed, and the Maximum Power Point Tracking(MPPT) modeling was used for the developed PV power system to find the maximum power.

  • In the photovoltaic applications, MPPT(maximum power point tracking) method is essential due to the non-lineality of photovoltaic output characteristics. To ensure stable tracking response, two sensors are required in conventional popular MPPTs. In modularized PV system as an AC module system, the cost of a sensor can have an effect on entire system cost because a power conditioning device is connected in a PV module. Because only a current sensor is required for proposed MPPT, it is helpful in the cost reduction point of view. In this paper, a novel MPPT using current sensor is proposed In the proposed MPPT, the voltage is derived from sensed current value. The proposed method is verified by simulation results.

  • Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) techniques play a big role in improving the efficiency of photovoltaic (PV) system. Among various schemes, the incremental conductance (INC) method is mostly discussed in literature because of its fast response to the rapid irradiation changes and high tracking accuracy. However, the existing INC algorithm has trade-offs between fast dynamic response and steady state stability. This study proposes a novel INC method to meet high efficiency and fast tracking performance at the same time.

  • In this study, a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm based on the perturb and observe (P&O) method with variable step size is proposed to improve the dynamic response characteristic of MPPT, using the existing P&O method. The proposed algorithm, which we verified by simulation and experiment, can track the maximum power point (MPP) through duty control and consisted of three operation modes, namely, constant voltage mode, fast mode, and variable step mode. When the insolation is constant, the voltage variation of the operating point at the MPP is reduced through the step size reduction of the duty in the variable step mode. Consequently, the vibration of the operating point is reduced, and the power generation efficiency is increased. When the insolation changes, the duty and the photovoltaic (PV) voltage are kept constant through the constant voltage mode. The operating point then rapidly tracks the new MPP through the fast-mode operation at the end of the insolation change. When the MPP is reached, the operation is changed to the variable step mode to reduce the duty step size and track the MPP. The validity of the proposed algorithm is verified by simulation and experiment of a PV system composed of a PV panel and a boost converter.

  • The parameter K which decides how much to convert wind energy to electric energy in MPPT(maximum power point tracking) control of wind turbine system using torque controller is changed because blade shape and air density change. If the parameter K is not optimal value, power lose occur. The changed parameter K is important issue in wind turbine system. In this paper, to solve this problem, considering wind turbine system using back-to-back converter control and torque control, we propose the adaptive MPPT algorithm which performs fast control by using initial K, estimates mechanical power using Kalman filter method, uses the estimated mechanical power as input for MPPT algorithm again, and consequently performs optimal MPPT control.

  • Photovoltaic conditioning systems normally use a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique to deliver the highest possible power to the load continuously when variations occur in the insolation and temperature. A unique method of tracking the maximum power points (MPPs) and forcing the boost converter system to operate close to these points is presented through deriving small-signal model and transfer function of boost converter considering input capacitor. This paper aims at modeling boost converter including fairly large equivalent series resistance(ESR) of input reservoir capacitor by state-space-averaging method and PWM switch model and compares both methods using Bode plots. In the future, properly designed controller for compensation will be constructed in 3kw real system for maximum photovoltaic power tracking control.

  • This paper is proposed a novel method to approximate the maximum power for a photovoltaic inverter system. It is designed for power systems application and utilities. The proposed Maximum Power Point Tracking(MPPT) control has the advantage to provide a new simple way to approximate the optimal or rated voltage, the optimal or rated current and maximum power rating produced by a solar panel and the photovoltaic inverter. And this straightforward method will be named linear reoriented coordinates method(LRCM) with the advantage that Pmax and $V_{op}$ can be approximated using the same variable as the dynamic model without using complicate approximations or Taylor series. This paper is proposed MPPT using LRMC method using weather condition of domestic moderate program technique. This paper is proposed the experimental results to verify the effectiveness of the new methods.

  • PV simulators are essential equipment for testing power conditioning systems (PCS) which are one of an important part in PV generator systems, for testing before shipment. High dynamic PV simulator is required since MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) test procedure has been established by EN50530 regulation recently. Most high quality PV simulator prevailed in the market is linear type which however has low efficiency. This paper proposes design guide lines for the power stage and LCL type filter cooperating with a switching mode PV simulator that shows high efficiency and very low power consumption. Proposed theory is verified by experiment.
