  • Moving picture has become the important media in education with expanded e-learning paradigm, but Korea Educational Metadata has limitation about representing information of lots of events and objects in moving picture. Announcing the MPEG-7 specification the information of lots of events and objects in it can be presented in terms of semantic and structural description of moving pictures. In this paper moving picture searching system model that integrates two metadata specifications, such as KEM and MPEG-7, is proposed. In this model one ontology to combine two metadata specifications is designed, and the other ontology about knowledge of a subject matter is added to search efficiently in searching system. As some moving picture data from Edunet were selected and stored in our server, our prototype of searching system using MPEG-7 and KEM shows the results that we are expected.

  • Problem of compatibility, contents protection, contents circulation etc. was caused between contents offerer and consumers by indiscreet rights technical development about digital contents. Therefore, MPEG-21 framework proposed the REL(Right Expression Language) based on XML(extensible Markup Language) by rights expression language for rights management. We designed and implemented of the REL document editing system that rights creation and edit are available efficiently about contents easily without comprehension of MPEG-21 framework and client system that present consumption method of REL document.

  • This paper introduces interactive multi-view contents authoring system based on MPEG-4. The MPEG-4 standard, which aims to provide an object based audiovisual coding tool, has been developed to address the emerging needs from communications, interactive broadcasting as well as from mixed service models resulting from technological convergence. Due to the feature of object based coding, it has been considered that MPEG-4 is the most suitable for interactive broadcasting content production. This feature is suitable for creation of the content which provides multiple views of object or scene in interactive manner. In this paper, we categorize the multi-view visual content into two types: panoramic multi-view content and object multi-view content. And design and implementation of the authoring system for interactive multi-view contents is presented. We believe that the proposed method can be effectively used for further deployment of MPEG-4 content to various interactive applications.

  • This thesis is realization of embedded system that of MPEG-2 down conversion using IDCT. A method for down conversion of MPEG compressed video is to perform low-pass filtering and sub-sampling after full decompression. However, this method is need large memory and high computational complexity. Recent research has been focussed on the down conversion in the DCT domain. But DCT method is reduced image qualify. The embedded system is require low complexity, and high speed algorithm. When applied to embedded system that down conversion method, DCT method is played average 29 frame per second, and better 25% than spatial-domain down conversion.

  • For effective remote education using multimedia, it is necessary to develop efficient management techniques of video information. This requires real-time processing of video information which should be managed and retrieved in a compressed forms. The main technology of compressing video is currently MPEG-2. This implies that it is very important to manage and retrieve video compressed in MPEG-2, and then to process the video in real-time for the remote education environment using multimedia. This paper is to develop the management system of video information which is one of the most critical requirements in remote education systems for managing and retrieving MPEG-2 video.

  • UHDTV와 함께 HDTV 이후의 차세대 방송기술로서 전세계적으로 연구되고 있는 3DTV 방송 기술은 시청자에게 보다 사실적 이고 현장감 있는 3D 비디오 콘텐츠를 제공한다. 최근 미국 헐리우드를 중심으로 활성화되고 있는 3D 입체 영화 시장 성장, 다수의 디스플레이 업체들에 의한 3D 지원 디스플레이 발표, 휴대단말에서의 3D 데이터 및 비디오 서비스, 가정에서의 3D 비디오 서비스를 위한 3D@Home 표준화 작업, 3D4YOU를 중심으로 한 3D 비디오 콘텐츠의 생성기술과 배포 포맷에 관한 연구, 다시 점 3DTV 서비스 등을 위한 MPEG에서의 3DV 표준화 등 관련 기술 개발 및 표준화가 이뤄지고 있다. 본 고에서는 MPEG 3DV 그룹에서 진행중인 3DV부호화 기술 표준화 진행 현황과 기고 주요 기술에 대해 설명하고, 향후 3D 비디오 표준화 진행 전망에 대해 다루기로 한다.

  • This Paper is implementing IPMP system based on Server/client Structured Linux. We referenced OpenIPMP System, which is a reference software of IPMP (Intellectual Property Management and Protection) solution. Using this system, we developed multimedia contents service providing system using MPEG-21's REL(XML), which is applicable to new media service environment.

A Test Stream Generating Method for the Digital TV Software (디지털 TV 소프트웨어를 위한 테스트 스트림 자동 생성 방법)

  • The input of digital TV software is the Transport Stream, which utilizes the moving picture compression technique, MPEC-2 (Moving Picture Experts Groups-2). MPEG-2 TS consists of the complicated table hierarchy and internal relationships, as well as the various restrictions with regards to system standard of digital TV software in determining the field values of transport stream. However, the general MPEG-2 TS generation tool produces transport streams solely based on the MPEG-2 TS specification itself, and does not consider the interaction between modulo features or modules themselves, which construct digital TV software. In this paper, we propose a method to systematically generate MPEG-2 TS test data, namely‘Test Stream’, for digital TV software. We present the experiment result where the test stream derived from our developed tool according to the proposed method was applied to the actual digital TV software settop-box, and then analyze the result. Apart from other existing MPEG-2 TS generation tools, the advantage of our method is that not only is it capable of generating various levels of test streams including digital TV software module, integration, and system testing, but also detecting errors and analyzing their causes.
