  • In this paper, I present a MPEG4 decoding system modeling in SystemC, a new C/C++ based system simulation approach, In the modeling, MPEG4 decoding behavior is modeled and verified. And I partitions the MPEG4 decoding system into several hardware components which will be implemented at low level hardware design flow and I model a synchronized hardware block communication through data ports.

  • In recent, development of wireless internet technology gradually has increased multimedia application in mobile device. Specially, application of grand capacity multimedia contents has increased in mobile environment gradually. MPEG-7 can search multimedia data using various type. But in restricted grand capacity of multimedia, MPEG-7 is used to be limited in desktop computer system mostly. Therefore, management of grand capacity multimedia data has become very important researching topic in mobile environment, and so embedded DBMS based on MPEG-7 for multimedia data management in client-server environment is needed. The system supports restricted hardware resource for multimedia application in mobile device. In this paper, we propose a method for MPEG-7 data clustering that included MPEG-7 data property. On the base of the clustering result, we also develop the embedded multimedia database management system based on MPEG-7 scheme(EMDS:MPEG-7 Scheme Based Embedded Multimedia Database Management System) in mobile device such as PDA.

  • In this paper, we propose a DRM(Digital Rights Management) system for streaming media which can not only protect streamed MPEG-4 content but be easily integrated with existing MPEG-4 streaming system. To protect MPEG-4 media more effectively and more securely, encryption should be considered on encoding phase and also streaming server should be designed to support DRM. However that means it cannot support existing streaming system. Our approach is to design a DRM system independent to the streaming server. So, we used an encryption method which can be applied to compressed MPEG-4. The processing time of decryption in client system must be minimized to guarantee the QoS of streaming service. To satisfy this requirement, it is essential to analyze the effect of DRM on performance. We made some performance test and present the result. Also, we apply proposed system to ISMA(The Inter net Streaming Media Alliance) streaming system which is open standard for MPEG-4 media streaming.

  • The MPEG user description (MPEG-UD) which is a standard under exploration to ensure interoperability among customized recommendation services has been contributed since MPEG $104^{th}$ meeting at 2013. Twenty-two use cases that were divided into different applications have been proposed in the MEPG meetings. Most of use cases were referred to specific and restricted regarding to applications, it appears to miss an overall and explicit infra-structure. In this paper we describe a reference model, namely methodology to overcome aforementioned problems. Thereafter, we have applied reference model to context-based recommendation system to demonstrate the methodology and MPEG-UD schemas. In addition, we propose a development process of recommendation system in compliance with MPEG-UD.

  • An increasing in quantity of multimedia data brought a new problem that expected data should be retrieved fast and exactly. The adequate representation is a key element for the efficient retrieval. For this reason, MPEG-7 standard was established for description of multimedia data in 2001. However, the content of the standard is massive and the approach method is not clear for real application system yet, because of properties of MPEG-7 standard that has to include a lot of potential cases. In this paper, we suggested implementation scheme of retrieval system with using of only visual descriptors and presented the performance results of developed system. From the result of developed system, MPEG-7 VIRS (Video/Image Retrieval System), we analyzed the retrieval results between using individual descriptor and using multiple descriptors, and showed a layout for real application system.

  • Moving Picture Expert Group(MPEG) is the organization foundedin 1998 to establish the standards for compressing and expressing the multimedia contents. The organization has established the technological standards such as MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and MPEG-7. As the 3D video related standards, there is Multiview Profile which is included in the MPEG-2 video of 1996. However, as the MPEG-2 multiview profile is the standard for compressing the videos from two viewpoints on the object, it is not enough to meet the requirement of multiviewvideo technology. In addition, it does not have the technology on the viewpoint switching that it does not provide the services such as the user interaction. This paper proposes the structure in which the specific viewpoint can be described for video switching in addition to the current MPEG-4 system.

  • Problem of compatibility, content protection, contents circulation ok. was caused between contents offerer and consumers by indiscreet right technical development about digital contents. The MPEG committee proposed MPEG-21 framework for these problem solution and for right managing in MPEG-21 inside XML(eXtensible Markup Language)'s structure REL(Right Expression Language) that is a right expression language propose. Contents protection, circulation, standard right information representation for administration that is reasonable and is the transposition enemy mutually by REL's use doing based on this MPEG-21 were available. Fast correspondence about new technology is necessary circumstance because present MPEG-21 is in study step and REL edit solution as infra technology is required. Also, development of REL document edit system is required mere because this REL document edit has difficulty in edit except expert with MPEG-21 Framework. In this paper, designed and embody about REL document mastication system that right creation and edit are available efficiently about contents easily without comprehension of MPEG-21 framework and client system that present consumption method of REL right document.

  • In this paper, we developed a new and robust algorithm for a practical and very efficient MPEG-4 video coding. The MPEG-4 video group has developed the video Verification Model(VM) which evolved through time by means of core experiments. And in the standardization process, MS-FDAM was developed based on the standard document of ISO/IEC 14496-2 and VM as a reference MPEG-4 coding system. But MS -FDAM has drawbacks in practical MPEG-4 coding and it does not have the VOP extraction functionality. In this research, we implemented a preprocessing system for a real-time input and the VOP extraction for a practical content-based MPEG-4 video coding and also implemented the motion detection to achieve the high compression rate of 180:1.

  • This paper describes the implementation of a RTSP-based MPEG-4 streaming system. The implemented system consists of content authoring tool, streaming server and streaming client. The existing MPEG-4 multiplexer has been modified with improvement to generate a file format with which the server load and streaming delay are reduced. The streaming system uses RTSP, instead of DMIF, as its communication protocol. With RTSP, the server provides extensive control functionalities as in DMIF and its implementation effort is greatly simplified. The implemented system supports the user interactivity for both streaming and local file playback. The effectiveness of the proposed multiplexing scheme has been validated with the various experiments on the fully functional server.

  • For temporal relations of interactive media such as MPEG-4, it is necessary for a temporal model that can update dynamically presentation time and temporal relations among objects by user events occurring during playback. Also, 811hough the temporal attributes are changed by user events, the validity of scene must be maintained. In this paper, we propose a temporal model that supports user interaction and developed an MPES-4 contents authoring system applying this model. We define the temporal relations of MPEG-4 that tan be authored and user interactions that can change the temporal properties. This authoring system defines the constraints on temporal relations and events and can generate the scene without error by checking the constraints. Also it provides the authoring environment to author visual]y temporal relations and events in MPEG-4 scene and generates the MPEG-4 stream by encoding the authored scene.
