  • The nanocrystalline Fe$_{84}$Zr$_{7}$B$_{6}$Cu$_{1}$ $Al_{2}$ alloy was annealed at 450 $^{\circ}C$ and 550 $^{\circ}C$ for l hour to achieve the ultra-soft magnetic properties such as large magnetoimpedence ratio(MIR), the incremental permeability ratio(PR), nearly zero coercivity, zero magnetostriction, etc. The PR and MIR of the sample were measured from 100 kHz to 10 MHz at a cryogenic chamber where the temperature can be varie from 10 K to 300 K. The increment of MIR value is proportional to increasing temperature. The maximum PR values measured at high frequency above 1 MHz remain almost same despite of the temperature variation from 10 K to 300 K except the sharpness in PR curves. However, the maximum PR values measured below 1 MHz show drastic increment at above 150K due to thermal activation of magnetic domains.s.s.

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to explain users' wearable healthcare device adoption using performance expectancy, effort expectancy, the hedonic motivation and price value of UTAUT2, and to identify the causal relationship between intention to use wearable healthcare device and innovation resistance formed by perceived risks. Design/methodology/approach The research model proposed in this study is based on UTAUT2(Extended Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology) and MIR(Model of Innovation Resistance). In specific, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, hedonic motivation and price value of UTAUT2 and innovation resistance formed by perceived risks of MIR are adopted in our research model. To validate the research model, we carry out the analysis of the survey data using Smart PLS 3.0 to test the hypotheses. Findings According to the empirical analysis results, this study confirms that the performance expectancy, effort expectancy, hedonic motivation, and price value have significant effects on the intention to use wearable healthcare devices. It also finds that perceived risk affects innovation resistance and in turn, innovation resistance affects the intention to use wearable healthcare devices.

  • Massive stars, supernovae, and kilonovae are among the most luminous radiation sources in the universe. Observations usually show near- to mid-infrared (NIR-MIR, 1-5~micron) emission excess from H II regions around young massive star clusters (YMSCs) and anomalous dust extinction and polarization towards Type Ia supernova (SNe Ia). The popular explanation for such NIR-MIR excess and unusual dust properties is the predominance of small grains (size a<0.05micron) relative to large grains (a>0.1micron) in the local environment of these strong radiation sources. The question of why small grains are predominant in these environments remains a mystery. Here we report a new mechanism of dust destruction based on centrifugal stress within extremely fast rotating grains spun-up by radiative torques, namely the RAdiative Torque Disruption (RATD) mechanism, which can resolve this question. We find that RATD can destroy large grains located within a distance of ~ 1 pc from a massive star of luminosity L~ 10^4L_sun and a supernova. This increases the abundance of small grains relative to large grains and successfully reproduces the observed NIR-MIR excess and anomalous dust extinction/polarization. We show that small grains produced by RATD can also explain the steep far-UV rise in extinction curves toward starburst and high redshift galaxies, as well as the decrease of the escape fraction of Ly-alpha photons observed from HII regions surrounding YMSCs.

  • Recently Machine Learning has been considered as one of the active research areas of Computer Science. The various Artificial Intelligence techniques are used to solve the classification problems of environmental sciences, biological sciences, and medical sciences etc. Due to the heterogynous and malfunctioning weather sensors a considerable amount of noisy data with missing is generated, which is alarming situation for weather prediction stockholders. Filling of these missing values with proper method is really one of the significant problems. The data must be cleaned before applying prediction model to collect more precise & accurate results. In order to solve all above stated problems, this research proposes a novel weather forecasting system which consists upon two steps. The first step will prepare data by reducing the noise; whereas a decision model is constructed at second step using regression algorithm. The Confusion Matrix will be used to evaluation the proposed classifier.

  • Mitochondria play key roles in the production of cell's energy. Their dominant function is the synthesis of adenosine 5'-triphosphate (ATP) from adenosine diphosphate (ADP) and phosphate (Pi) through the oxidative phosphorylation. Evaluation of drug-induced mitochondrial toxicity has become increasingly important since mitochondrial dysfunction has recently been implicated in numerous diseases including cancer and diabetes mellitus. Mitochondrial functions have been monitored via oxygen consumption, mitochondrial membrane potential, and more importantly via ATP synthesis since ATP synthesis is the most essential function of mitochondria. Various analytical methods have been employed to investigate ATP synthesis in mitochondria, including high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), bioluminescence technique, and pH measurement. However, most of these methods are based on destructive analysis or indirect monitoring through the enzymatic reaction. Infrared absorption spectroscopy (IRAS) is one of the useful techniques for real-time, label-free, and direct monitoring of biological reactions [1,2]. However, the strong water absorption requires very short path length in the order of several micrometers. Transmission measurements with thin path length are not suitable for mitochondrial assays because solution handlings necessary for evaluating mitochondrial toxicity, such as rapid mixing of drugs and oxygen supply, are difficult in such a narrow space. On the other hand, IRAS in the multiple internal reflection (MIR) geometry provides an ideal optical configuration to combine solution handling and aqueous-phase measurement. We have recently reportedon a real-time monitoring of drug-induced necrotic and apoptotic cell death using MIR-IRAS [3,4]. Clear discrimination between viable and damaged cells has been demonstrated, showing a promise as a label-free and real-time detection for cell-based assays. In the present study, we have applied our MIR-IRAS system to mitochondria-based assays by monitoring ATP synthesis in isolated mitochondria from rat livers. Mitochondrial ATP synthesis and hydrolysis were in situ monitored with MIR-IRAS, while dissolved oxygen level and solution pH were simultaneously monitored with O2 and pH electrodes, respectively. It is demonstrated that ATP synthesis and hydrolysis can be monitored by the IR spectral changes in phosphate groups in adenine nucleotides and MIR-IRAS is useful for evaluating time-dependent drug effects of mitochondrial toxicants.

  • We investigate the role of galaxy environment in the evolution of individual galaxies through the AKARI observations of the merging galaxy cluster A2255. MIR diagnostics using N3-S11 colors are adopted to select star-forming galaxies and galaxies in transition between star-forming galaxies and quiescent galaxies. We do not find particular enhancement of star formation rates as a function of galaxy environment, reflected in cluster-centric distance and local surface density of galaxies. Instead, the locations of intermediate MIR-excess galaxies (-1.2 < N3 - S11 < 0.2) show that star-forming galaxies are transformed into passive galaxies in the substructures of A2255, where the local surface density of galaxies is relatively high.

  • IEC 60300 series, the international standards on reliability management system are newly developed and introduced rapidly worldwide. In order to meet this fast-changing situation, it is necessary to apply them to the Korean industries effectively. It includes the establishment of the infrastructure such as documentation of Korean Standards, introduction of test equipments and test manuals, accreditation of the certification bodies and training of the specialists etc. IEC 60300 is upgraded management system of the ISO 9000 and ISO 14000. In this regard, the Korean companies which were certified with the ISO 9000 or 14000 should endeavor to find new strategies and methods to be certified with IEC 60300. This paper introduces a Quantitative method of estimating the level of the reliability management system by applying the MIR(Maturity Index on Reliability) technique. This enables the estimation of the operation level of the system and can upgrade the maturity level of it.

  • In practice, the most important performance parameters for music information retrieval (MIR) service are robustness of fingerprint in real noise environments and recognition accuracy when the obtained query clips are matched with the an entry in the database. To satisfy these conditions, we proposed a conjoined fingerprint algorithm for use in massive MIR service. The conjoined fingerprint scheme uses interhash and intrahash algorithms to produce a robust fingerprint scheme in real noise environments. Because the interhash and intrahash algorithms are masked in the predominant pitch estimation, a compact fingerprint can be produced through their relationship. Experimental performance comparison results showed that our algorithms were superior to existing algorithms, i.e., the sub-mask and Philips algorithms, in real noise environments.

  • Theoretical simulation studies suggest that dust-obscured AGNs appear for a certain period when merger-driven star-forming galaxies evolve to unobscured type 1 AGNs. The dust-obscured AGNs would have red colors due to the dust extinction in their host galaxies, and they are expected to have higher accretion rates than unobscured type 1 AGNs. Red AGNs are found by selecting type 1 AGNs with very red colors, and they have been suspected as the intermediate-stage, dusty AGNs. However, it is not yet clear if red AGNs really correspond to the dusty AGNs due to a lack of intrinsic properties of red AGNs. For unveiling intrinsic properties of red AGNs, we study the NIR and MIR spectra of unobscured type 1 AGNs and red AGNs. There are three main themes: (i) derivation of NIR and MIR BH mass estimators can be used for red AGN study; (ii) investigation of red AGN selection methods to test its usefulness to identify dusty red AGNs; and (iii) investigation of the accretion rates of red AGNs to see if they have the properties as predicted in the simulation studies.
