굴 양식장의 환경에 관한 연구 충무부근 양식장의 저질에 관하여 (ENVIRONMENT IN THE OYSTER FARM AREA -Superficial Mud Characteristics Near Chungmu-)

  • 충무부근 굴 양식장의 노화정도를 구명코져 1978년 5월부터 11월까지 진해만의 가조도부근과 고성만의 읍도부근 그리고 거제만의 어구양식장에서 저질 및 저층수의 수질을 조사한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 저이중의 COD와 유화물량은 대체로 여름에 많았는데, COD는 가조도부근에서 38.1mg/g, 읍도부근에서 32.3mg/g, 그리고 어구양식장에서 25.1mg/g 이었고, 유화물량은 가조도부근에서 0.313mg/g, 읍도부근서 0.517mg/g, 그리고 어구양식장에서 0.132 mg/g 이었다. 2. 저이중의 COD와 유화물량으로 보아, 가조도 부근 양식장과 읍도부근 양식장은 다 함께 COD의 부영양 최고치인 30.0mg/g을 초과하였고, 초화물량은 상한치인 0.30mg/g을 상회하여 이미 과영양수역에 속하는 반면, 어구양식장은 비교적 양호한 편이었다. 3. 저층수의 수질은 저질처럼 양식장간의 뚜렷한 차이가 없었다. 단, 9월중 가조도부근에서 유화물이 1,07mg/l로 많은 양이었는뎨 이는 8월중에 있었던 적조의 영향 때문이라고 추측된다.

Anxiolytic Effects of Total Saponin Fraction from Ginseng Radix Rubra on the Elevated Plus-Maze Model in Mice

  • This study was performed to investigate the anxiolytic effects of total sponin fraction from Ginseng Radix Rubra (KRG) in mice using the elevated plus-maze model. The water extract of KRG and ginseng total saponins (GTS) purified from the water extract of KRG were administered orally to mice. One hour after administration of KRG water extract and GTS, mice were tested on the elevated plus-maze. The water extract of KRG 100 mg/kg, and GTS 25 and 50 mg/kg did not increase open arm entries and time spent on open arm. However, GTS 100 mg/kg increased the number of open arm entries and time spent on open arm. On the other hand, as the plus-maze test was affected by changes in locomotor activity, an additional test was carried out with the specific aim of monitoring locomotor activity. The water extract of KRG 100 mg/kg, and GTS 25 and 50 mg/kg did not affect the locomotor activity. However, GTS 100 mg/kg significantly decreased locomotor activity. From this study, we suggest that GTS may play an imponant role on the anxiolytic effects in the plus-maze model.

Effect of SiO2 on yield and phenolic profile of Tartary buckwheat

  • The aim of this study was to enhance the Tartary buckwheat growth and phenolic profile by the application of $SiO_2$ on potsin the glasshouse. The liquid of $SiO_2$ were applied at three times after three weeks of sowing at ten days interval. The doses of the $SiO_2$ was low (2.5 ml/5 L water), high (10 ml in 5 L water) and control experiment was done without $SiO_2$. In this study, it is clearly shown that high dose of $SiO_2$ increased the buckwheat plant growth including, plant height, leaf length and width, stem diameter, fresh weight and number of seed per plant compared to control treatment. In the same way, the total phenolic compound (1421 mg/100 g), total flavonoid (35.1 mg/100g), rutin (3,130 mg/100g) and DPPH (82%) in plant were also increased high dose of $SiO_2$ compared to control (1,175 mg/100g, 31.9mg/100g, 860 mg/100g, 59%, respectively). Moreover, higher phenolic compound (1,421 mg/100g) and DPPH (82%) was observed in plant compared to seed (196 mg/100mg, 72 %, respectively). In the contrary, total flavonoid (36.2 mg/100g) and rutin (1,400 mg/100g) was higher in buckwheat seed compared to plant (35.1 mg/100g, 3,130 mg/100g, respectively). Finally, it is concluded that higher dose of $SiO_2$ enhance buckwheat growth and phenolic profile. Further investigation is needed to evaluate the optimum dose of $SiO_2$ according to soil conditions in the field.

A regression for estimating metabolizable glucose in diets of weaned piglets for optimal growth performance

  • Objective: Two experiments were conducted to provide a new approach for evaluating feed nutritional value by metabolizable glucose (MG) in piglet diets with different levels of starch and crude fiber. In Exp 1, a regression equation for MG was generated. In Exp 2, the equation was verified, and the optimal growth performance of piglets under appropriate MG levels was tested. Methods: In Exp 1, 20 weaned piglets (7.74±0.81 kg body weight [BW]) were randomly assigned to 1 of 4 treatments, including the basal diet containing different levels of MG (starch, 25.80%, 31.67%, 45.71%, 49.36%; crude fiber, 1.23%, 1.35%, 1.80%, 1.51%). The piglets were implanted with an ileal fistula, cannulation of the carotid artery, portal vein, and mesenteric artery. The chyme from the ileum fistula and blood samples were collected. In Exp 2, 30 weaned piglets (8.96±0.50 kg BW) were randomly assigned to 1 of 5 treatments, including the experimental diets with different levels of MG (37.6, 132.5, 300.0, 354.3, and 412.5 g/kg). The piglets' BW, and feed consumption were recorded to calculate growth performance during the 28-d experiment. Results: In Exp 1, the MG levels in 4 diets were 239.62, 280.68, 400.79, and 454.35 g/kg. The regression equation for the MG levels and dietary nutrients was: Y (MG) = 12.13×X1 (starch)+23.18×X2 (crude fiber)-196.44 (R2 = 0.9989, p = 0.033). In Exp 2, treatments with 132.5 and 300.0 g/kg MG significantly (p<0.05) increased average daily gain and feed conversion efficiency of weaned piglets, increased digestibility of crude fat, and had no effect on digestibility of crude protein compared to 300.0 to 412.5 g/kg MG. Conclusion: The pig model combining the ileum fistula and cannulation of blood vessels was successfully used to determine the dietary MG levels. The recommended MG level in weaned pig diets is 132.5 to 300.0 g/kg.

Effect of Sn Doping on the Thermoelectric Properties of P-Type Mg3Sb2 Synthesized by Controlled Melting, Pulverizing Followed by Vacuum Hot Pressing

  • Zintl phase Mg3Sb2 is a promising thermoelectric material in medium to high temperature range due to its low band gap energy and characteristic electron-crystal phonon-glass behavior. P-type Mg3Sb2 has conventionally exhibited lower thermoelectric properties compared to its n-type counterparts, which have poor electrical conductivity. To address these problems, a small amount of Sn doping was considered in this alloy system. P-type Mg3Sb2 was synthesized by controlled melting, pulverizing, and subsequent vacuum hot pressing (VHP) method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to investigate phases and microstructure development during the process. Single phase Mg3Sb2 was successfully formed when 16 at.% of Mg was excessively added to the system. Nominal compositions of Mg3.8Sb2-xSnx (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.008) were considered in this study. Thermoelectric properties were evaluated in terms of Seebeck coefficient, electrical conductivity, and thermal conductivity. A peak ZT value ≈ 0.32 was found for the specimen Mg3.8Sb1.994Sn0.006 at 873 K, showing an improved ZT value compared to intrinsic one. Transport properties were also evaluated and discussed.

콩나물 재배중 유리당과 Lipoxygenase Activity의 변화 및 이들에 미치는 키토산 처리의 영향 (Changes of Free Sugars, Lipoxygenase Activity and Effects of Chitosan Treatment during Cultivation of Soybean Sprouts)

  • 준저리콩, 익산콩을 사용하여 콩나물 재배 과정 중 유리당 함량변화와 lipoxygenase activity 변화를 측정하였고, 키토산 처리가 이들에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 재배 3일째 자엽에서 sucrose는 71% 감소하였고 배축은 59%가 감소하여 배축보다는 자엽에서 더 빠른 감소 경향을 볼 수 있었다. Raffinose와 stachyose는 재배 초기 빠른 속도로 감소하다 이 후 감소가 완만해졌으며 배축보다는 자엽에서의 분해속도가 빠르게 나타났다. 키토산을 처리하여 콩나물을 재배하였을 때 4일 후 분해되지 않은 유리당이 sucrose와 raffinose의 경우 키토산 처리구가 대조구보다 각각 9.8, 16% 정도 많이 남아 있었으나, stachyose의 경우 대조구에 18%정도 많이 잔존하였다. Lipoxygenase activity는 L-2/3보다 L-1의 activity가 높게 나타났으며, 24시간 침지후 자엽의 L-1 activity가 1207 unit/mg에서 2072 unit/mg으로 높아졌으나 발아가 진행되면서 activity는 감소하였다. L-2/3의 activity는 재배 초기에 자엽에서 492 unit/mg, 배축에서 67 unit/mg이였으나, 재배 5일 후에는 자엽과 배축의 activity가 42, 82% 각각 감소하였다. 키토산 처리가 lipoxygenase activity에 미치는 영향을 보면 off-flavor 형성과 밀접한 관련이 있는 L-2/3 activity가 재배 5일 후 대조구 83 unit/mg, 키토산 처리구 56 unit/mg 으로 되어 키토산 처리구의 활성이 낮았다.
