  • Similar friction welding were produced using 15 mm diameter solid bar in Ni-base superalloy(alloy718) to investigate their mechanical properties. The main friction welding parameters were selected to endure good quality welds on the basis of visual examination, tensile tests, AE total counts and ultrasonic attenuation coefficient. The specimens were tested as welded, not heat-treated. The tensile strength of the friction welded joints was increased up to 90% of the alloy718 base metal under the condition of all heating time. Optimal welding conditions were n=2,000 (rpm), $P_1=200$ (MFa), $P_2=200$ (MFa), $t_1=8$ (s), $t_2=5$ (s) when the total upset length is 4.4(mm). The weld interface of similar friction welded steel bars was mixed strongly.

  • The purpose of the study was to identify the maternal & paternal-fetal attachment. The subjects were 130 pregnant women and 85 their husbands. Data were collected in OB & GY clinic by modified Cranley's Maternal-Fetal Attachment Scale. The results were as follows : 1. The mean scores of maternal-fetal attachment (MFA) was 75.57(range: 48-92). The most frequently practiced attachment item was "I can hardly walt to hold the baby(mean 4.32)". The mean scores of paternal-fetal attachment (PFA) was 65.48(range : 48-92). The most frequently practiced attachment item was "I can hardly wait to hold the baby(mean 4.25)". 2. There were significant difference in the degree of MFA, namely, gestational period(p=.020), whether the women had been special things(p=.000) and had experiened on ultrasound scan(p=.001). In the PFA, gestational period(p=.013) gravida(p=.016), duration of marriage(p=.001), family type(p=.036) and whether the women had a health problem(p=.035) were significant difference in degree of attachment. In conclusions, it can be said that parent demonstrated mid-level of attachment to their fetus during pregnancy. Several other factors seemed to be related, indicating a need for further study on maternal & paternal-fetal attachment. It will designed and managed parental class to promoting maternal & paternal-fetal attachment.

  • The human coagulation factor XI (FXI) is a serine protease that plays a significant role in blocking of the blood coagulation cascade as an attractive antithrombotic target. Selective inhibition of FXIa (an activated form of factor XI) disrupts the intrinsic coagulation pathway without affecting the extrinsic pathway or other coagulation factors such as FXa, FIIa, FVIIa. Furthermore, targeting the FXIa might significantly reduce the bleeding side effects and improve the safety index. This paper reports on a docking-based three dimensional quantitative structure activity relationship (3D-QSAR) study of the potent FXIa inhibitors, the chloro-phenyl tetrazole scaffold series, using comparative molecular field analysis (CoMFA) and comparative molecular similarity analysis (CoMSIA) methods. Due to the characterization of FXIa binding site, we classified the alignment of the known FXIa inhibitors into two groups according to the docked pose: S1-S2-S4 and S1-S1'-S2'. Consequently, highly predictive 3D-QSAR models of our result will provide insight for designing new potent FXIa inhibitors.

  • Immunoglobulin Y (IgY) obtained from chicken as the immunization host brings several advantages to antibody production, such as improved yield, lower cost, longer stability and higher specificity than mammalian immunoglobulin. In the present study, we attempted to produce IgY against a sialic acid-binding lectin, Maackia fauriei agglutinin (MFA), from egg yolk of white Leghorn hens. For the isolation of IgY from egg yolk, we applied a water dilution method. The weekly yield of IgY was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, with a final yield of anti-MFA IgY from total IgY of approximately $1\%$. The yielded IgY were used to prepare IgY-affinity column conjugated with CNBr-activated Sepharose 4B, which resulted in the lectin being successfully purified in a single step from Maackia fauriei. This purified lectin exhibited the same hemagglutination activity as lectin purified using conventional purification methods.

  • Rapid cost-effective methods of measuring wood quality are extremely important to tree improvement programs where it is necessary to test large numbers of trees. Non-destructive sampling of a forest can be achieved by using increment cores generally removed at breast height. At CSIRO Forestry and Forest Products methods for the rapid, non-destructive measurement of wood properties and wood chemistry based on increment core samples have been developed. In this paper the application of near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy to the prediction of a range solid wood properties, including density, longitudinal modulus of elasticity (E$\sub$L/) and microfibril angle (MFA), is described. Experiments conducted on individual species (Eucalyptus delegatensis and Pinus radiata), the two species combined and a number of mixed species from several genera are reported. NIR spectra were obtained from the radial/longitudinal face of each sample and used to develop calibrations for the measured physical properties. When the individual species were used the relationships between laboratory determined data and NIR fitted data were good in all cases. Coefficients of determination (R$^2$) ranging from 0.77 for MFA to 0.93 for stick density were obtained for E. delegatensis and R$^2$ ranging from 0.68 for MFA to 0.94 for strip density were obtained for P. radiata. The calibration statistics for the combined E. delegatensis and P. radiata samples were similar to those found for the individual species. As these results indicated that it might be possible to produce general calibrations based on samples from a number of species of a single genus or samples from a number of different genera, a wide range of species was subsequently tested. Good relationships were obtained for both density and E$\sub$L/. These calibrations had R$^2$ that were slightly lower than those determined using individual species and standard errors that were higher. The mixed species calibrations, when applied to the E. delegatensis and P. radiata sample sets, provided good estimates of density (stick and strip) and E$\sub$L/. The results demonstrated that a mixed species calibration, that encompasses wide variation in terms of, wood anatomy, chemistry and physical properties, could be used to rank trees. Experiments reported in this paper demonstrate that solid wood properties can be estimated by NIR spectroscopy. The method offers a rapid and non-destructive alternative to traditional methods of analysis and is applicable to large-scale non-destructive forest resource assessment, and to tree breeding and silvicultural programs.

  • During expressway construction it has been input a lot of material, but it does not manage to estimate quantitatively. In this study, the total material requirement for construction of expressway, which separated direct material requirement and indirect material requirement each section was quantified by combining life cycle assessment (LCA) and material flow analysis (MFA). In the direct material requirement, sand 2.27E + 04 ton/km, limestone 1.02E + 04 ton/km and gravel 4.47E + 03 ton/km were required, in the indirect material requirement, gravel 2.75E + 04 ton/km, iron 9.80E + 03 ton/km and coal 9.74E + 03 ton/km were required. Material such as sand, limestone which has high direct material requirement is require of excess input prevention from construction site, and material such as iron, rare metals(chrome, nickel) and coal which has high indirect material requirement is require additional studies of resource management.

  • An experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of environmentally friendly agents (yucca extract, mineral feed additive, acidifier, nonspecific immunostimulating anionic alkali solution) on the growth performance, nutrient digestibility, nutrient excretion and carcass characteristics in growing-finishing pigs. A total of 125 pigs were allotted into 5 treatments with 5 replications, 5 pigs per pen in a completely randomized block design. Dietary treatments consisted of 1) control: basal diet, 2) YE: basal diet+120 mg/kg of yucca extract, 3) MFA: basal diet+50 mg/kg of mineral feed additive, 4) NIS: basal diet+3% of NIS (nonspecific immunostimulating anionic alkali solution), and 5) Acidifier: basal diet+0.5% of acidifier (organic acid complex). During the growing phase of the feeding trial, There were no significant differences in average daily feed intake (ADFI) and feed conversion ratio (F/G) among treatments, but the Acidifier group showed higher average daily gain (ADG) than the MFA group (p<0.05). During the finishing phase, there were no significant differences in growth performance among treatments, however YE supplementation increased ADG and F/G by 3.1 and 6.15%, respectively, when compared to control group. Proximate nutrients (dry matter, DM; crude protein, CP; crude ash, CA; crude fat, CF; gross energy, GE; calcium, Ca and phosphorus, P) digestibility did not show any significant differences among the treatments. And there were no significant differences in DM, N and P excretion as well. The supplementation of environmentally friendly agents tended to increase carcass weight compared to control group. Pigs fed MFA showed significantly heavier (p<0.05) carcass weight than those fed control or Acidifier diets. Addition of these agents except for NIS to diet for growing-finishing pigs caused a similar feed cost/kg weight gain than control group. Therefore, present study suggested that the optimum environmentally friendly agent would be yucca extracts, considering the effects on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, nutrient excretion, carcass characteristics and feed cost in growing-finishing pigs.
