  • Circular shareholding is established when at least three member firms in a business group hold stock in other member firms and form a series of ownership in a circular way. Although there have been many studies which investigated a negative effect of circular shareholding on firm's value, few studies have discussed how to resolve the problem given complicated ownership structures of large business groups. This paper is based on a mixed integer programming model, which was proposed in the author's previous research and can identify the ownership share divested in order to resolve circular shareholding. Since the optimization model becomes too complicated for large business groups and requires a sophisticated software to solve it, we propose a simple heuristic method that can find a good approximate solution to the model. Its applications to twelve Korean large business groups show that the heuristic method is not just computationally attractive but also provides near-optimal solutions in most cases.

  • Circular shareholding refers to a situation where at least three member firms in a business group have stock in other member firms and establish a series of ownership in a circular way. Although many studies have focused on the ultimate effect of circular shareholding on firm's value and profitability, there have been few studies which address how to resolve circular shareholding from the perspective of optimization theory. This paper proposes a heuristic method for identifying shareholdings which need to be cleared in order to settle the problem of circular shareholding in a business group. The proposed heuristic tries to maximize the sum of voting rights the controlling family has in its business group firms. The applications results confirm that the heuristic provides near-optimal solutions for most of 16 Korean large business groups involving circular shareholding.

  • THis study examines a contingency relationship between task uncertainty and structure of project teams in conjunction with the leader-member communication patterns. Multivariate analyses are used to analyze the data from 63 R & D project teams of research laboratory in a large manufacturing corporation. Major findings for this study can be summarized as follows. First, project teams with an organic structure are found to yield high performance when task uncertainty is high, while project teams with a mechanistic structure achieve high performance when their tasks are relatively certain. Second, patterns of leader-member comunication are significantly associated with both task uncertainty and structural characteristics of project teams. This implies that leaders of project teams communicate with their members in more conslutative manner when their tasks are uncertain or when their team structure exhibits organic characteristics. Finally, task uncertainty playus a significant moderating role in the relationship between consultative communication patterns and performance of project teams. Based upon these findings, this study offers several theoretical, practical, and methodological implications.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore a self-diagnostic indicator for measuring a healthy family by adopting the theme of "happiness", which has surfaced as the most interesting in many academic fields recently. Though the basic concept of a healthy family may be shared by everyone, the criterion of happiness varies from one family to another. Therefore, it is desirable that the tool be made in such a way that every member of the family can check their health from a holistic perspective, rather than diagnosing health and happiness from the perspective of professionals. So, this study was aimed at diagnosing a family by using a tool named GAMMA model, so each family member can recognize problems and find the best options to solve it. This study. has a significant meaning in that it has tried to diagnose families by introducing the GAMMA model into domestic science for the first time.

  • MANET has the advantage of having the flexibility to build easily a network in a difficult situation that builds a wired network. But, data transmission errors by movement of nodes and eavesdropping by wireless communications have become a problem of security. Authentication service is the most essential in order to overcome these problems and operate network stably. In this paper, we propose 3-tiers authentication structure to exclude of malicious node and operate stable network through more systematic and thorough node authentication. After network is composed into a cluster, cluster head which play CA role is elected. Among these, the highest-CA is elected. The highest-CA receives certificates to cluster head and the cluster head evaluates trust value of their member nodes. Authentication technique which issues member node key is used. We compared PSS and experimented to evaluate performance of proposed scheme in this paper and efficiency of the proposed technique through experience was confirmed.

  • The paper's suggestion is about hereditary facts between family members. Diagnosing patients from the point of patients temporary conditions, and so performing primitive examinations and treatments, can lead not only to frequent wrong diagnoses, and to huge medical expenses and times to the patients, but even to critical situation of patients or taking lives away. As a means to cut these cases down to a minimum, sharing medical treatment information between family members is suggested. This approach makes possible understanding physical constitution and environment between family members, and can result in bringing a faster treatment effect if some family member suffers from a similar disease. This approach, since a participation in a family membership effectuates all of family members, can minimize the membership fees, thus enabling inter-family health care on a home doctor basis.

  • In this paper, fuzzy hierarchical analysis (FHA) is used to explore the process by which the criteria weights of the Taiwan National Quality Award (TNQA) are assigned by TNQA committee members. Each member is allowed to employ fuzzy scales in place of exact scales. Each pairwise comparison of criteria is made through a questionnaire from each TNQA committee member. The membership function of trapezoidal fuzzy numbers is introduced to specify TNQA committee members' intentions. After FHA, the reasonable range of each criterion weight of TNQA is determined. The current criteria weights of TNQA are properly verified.

  • This paper examined economic liberalization and corruption in ASEAN member affect Korea's foreign direct investment. We use 160 (country-year) observations from ASEAN 10 member countries for a period of 16 years from 2001 to 2016, with the Economic Liberalization Index provided by the Fraser Institute and the corruption recognition index provided by the International Transparency Organization. As results, economic liberalization showed a non-linear(U shaped) effect on foreign direct investment and corruption has a negative effect on foreign direct investment.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of organizational virtue and leader member exchange on workplace-incivility by reducing workplace incivility. And second, to examine how incivility in the organization will affect affective commitment. Third, the effect of conscientiousness on the relationship between workplace-incivility and affective commitment in the organization is examined. In this study, 234 domestic workers were surveyed and their hypotheses were verified for empirical study. This study revealed that organizational virtue and leader member exchange had negative effects on workplace-incivility, and organizational incivility also had negative effects on affective commitment. In addition, the relationship between workplace-incivility and affective commitment in the organization showed that the lower the degree of conscientiousness in personality, the stronger the negative effect of workplace-incivility on affective commitment. Therefore, this study suggests that empirical studies show causal relationship between workplace-incivility and affective commitment in the organization. In addition, the moderating effect of conscientiousness on the relationship between workplace-incivility and affective commitment was demonstrated, and it is meaningful that the effect of organizational virtue, leader member exchange relationship and affective commitment is demonstrated empirically.

  • The purpose of this paper is to identify a relative importance and priority of the factors of Competencies of project team member. It aims to present the differential competency factors from a differentiated perspective by applying the Leadership Development Questionnaire, which is the competency dimension required for manager, to team member. (1) Background: The diverse needs of customers and companies, and the uncertainty, complexity, ambiguity, and volatility of the environment surrounding the company in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution threaten the survival of company. In this respect, companies should implement the project management approach and strive to increase the capabilities of each team member. (2) Methods: AHP method was used to prioritize which factors were considered more importance level and the gap of relative importance level between project manager group and team members group. (3) Results: In the analysis of the relative importance of the upper class, weights were derived in the order of managerial competence, intellectual competence, and emotional competence. The sub-factor that respondents prioritize was communication as the 1st priority, and it was analyzed in the order of strategic perspective, achieving, critical analysis and judgement, and vision and imagination. There were some differences in the ranking of the relative importance of achieving and vision and imagination attributes between the PM group and TM group, it was analyzed that there was no significant difference overall. (4) Implications: The results of this study confirmed the recognition that team members are required to have the same competencies as the project manager. And based on the priorities of the competencies required of team members, companies are expected to cultivate professional and competent team members, and expand the roles and authority of team members so that they can actively carry out projects.
