  • It is important to select appropriate antimicrobials for the treatment of infection according to the results of antimicrobial susceptibility tests (ASTs), yet the clinical isolates are sometimes susceptible to antibiotics that are clinically ineffective or this is due to technical error of the ASTs. So, interpretive reading of ASTs is needed and especially for the ${\beta}$-lactams for treating $Enterobacteriacae$. This review describes the interpretive reading of ASTs according to natural antimicrobial resistance and the mechanisms of mechanisms, with giving special attention to the antibiotics phenotypes for $Enterobacteriacae$. Further, as all the diffent tissues have a different antimicrobial concentration for identical antimicrobials, more information is needed on the antimicrobial tissue distribution for the appropriate treatment of infection. • In an effort to predict the long term durability of carbon fiber/epoxy composites in a space environ-ment interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) of the composites was measured as a function of 0.5 MeV electron radiation dosage. For the ILSS measurements a notch method (ASTM D3846) was used with and without side-supports. the supports were used to prevent peeling or bending during the test. The ILSS of both T300/ 5209 longitudinal composite system increases monotonically with radiation when the test is corried out without the support the ILSS of the composites increases initially but then decreases with further radiation. It is also observed that the ILSS of the unsupported case is much lower than that of the supported case. Measurement of epoxy modulus shows that the elastic modulus increases monotonically with radiation. But the breaking strength of the epoxy decreases with radiation. Electron Spectroscopy for Chemcal Analysis shows that the oxygen contents at both the pure epoxy surface and the composite fracture surface increase with radiation dose resulting in the increase of polarity at the interfacial region. This may be a supporting evidence for the increase in the ILSS of the composites.

  • One of the major problem encountered in nuclear plants and satellites design isEMI (Electro-Magnetic Interference) and EMC (Electro-Magnetic Compatibility). Here, our focus is to implement the test board for checking SEU (Single EventUpsets); the effects of protons on the electronic system. The SEU results from thelevel change of stored information due to photon radiation and temperature in thespace environment. The impact of SEU on PLD (Programmable Logic Devices)technology is most apparent in ROM/SRAM/DRAM devices wherein the state ofstorage cell can be upset. In this paper, a simple and powerful test techniques issuggested, and the results are presented for the analysis and future reference. In ourexperiment, the proton radiation facilitv (having the energy of 50 MeV with a beamcurrent of 60 uA of cyclotron) available at KIRAMS (Korea Institute of RadiologicalMedical Sciences) has been applied on a commercially available SRAM manufacturedby Hynix Semiconductor Company.

  • In order to explore the brassinosteroid-active components in Zea mays seeds, the methanol extract was purified by the sequences of solvent fractionation, silica gel adsorption chromatography, Sephadex LH-20 chromatography, charcoal adsorption chromatography and Bondesil chromatography. The activity of brassinosteroid was monitored by the rice inclination test and its presence could be confirmed in each purification step. The purified active components were separated by silica gel adsorption chromatography. Brassinosteroid substances in separated active fractions were identified as castasterone and teasterone by HPLC. The content of brassinosteroid in Zea mays seeds as converted into brassinolide was 3-8ng/g fresh weight.
