Growth Performance, Plasma Fatty Acids, Villous Height and Crypt Depth of Preweaning Piglets Fed with Medium Chain Triacylglycerol

  • A study was conducted to investigate the effects of feeding medium chain triacylglycerol (MCT) on growth performance, plasma fatty acids, villus height and crypt depth in preweaning piglets. A total of 150 new born piglets were randomly assigned into one of three treatments: i) Control (no MCT); ii) MCT with milk (MCT+milk); iii) MCT without milk (MCT+fasting). Body weight, plasma fatty acid profiles, villus height and crypt depth were measured. Final BW for the Control and MCT+fasting was lower (p<0.05) than MCT+milk. The piglets fed with MCT regardless of milk provision or fasting had greater medium chain fatty acids (MCFA) than the Control. In contrast, the Control had greater long chain fatty acid (LCFA) and unsaturated fatty acid (USFA) than the MCT piglets. The piglets fed with MCT regardless of milk provision or fasting had higher villus height for the duodenum and jejunum after 6 h of feeding. Similar observations were found in piglets fed with MCT after 6 and 8 days of treatment. This study showed that feeding MCT to the piglets before weaning improved growth performance, with a greater concentration of MCT in blood plasma as energy source and a greater height of villus in duodenum, jejunum and ileum.

대체지방으로 제조한 케이크의 품질 특성에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Quality Characteristics of Cake Prepared with Fat Substitute)

  • This study was carried on the quality characteristics of cake prepared with Co(com oil) containing MCT(medium chain triglycerides), which is used as a fat substitute. In tile cake prepared with MCT-CO containing $10{\sim}30%$ MCT, the appearance and the degree of gelatinization were similar to those of cake prepared with NS-CO(non-substituted corn ell) Cake batter prepared with MCT-CO showed higher specific gravity and consistency than those of cake prepared with NS-CO and increased by increasing MCT contents. The baking loss of cake prepared with MCT-CO was more than that of cake prepared with NS-CO and increased by increasing MCT contents as well. The rheological properties of cake represented significant different by MCT substitution ratio(p<0.05). Gumminess, hardness and chewiness of cake prepared with MCT-CO containing $20{\sim}30%$ MCT were about 2 times higher than those of cake prepared with NS-CO, while springiness and cohesiveness showed similar pattern between the cake prepared with MCT-CO or NS-CO. In sensory evaluation, appearance. color and flavor of cake prepared with CO substituted by MCT up to 100% were better assessed and the taste was better in range of 30% MCT-CO but the texture was less accepted than that of cake prepared with NS-CO.

MCT 대체지방의 산화안정성 및 조리 적합성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Oxidative Stability and Cooking Scientific Characteristics of Fat Substitute MCT)

  • This study was carried on the oxidative stability and the real practice possibilities in cooking of fat replacer MCT. Nowadays, it was known that fats and oils had become causes for cardiac disease, obesity and cancer, so the new materials were needed for fat substitute that has less fat contents and low calories. The food industry concerned about fats and oils had been researched and developed new and various kinds of substitute fats. MCT(medium chain triglycerides) is one of the fat based fat substitutes used as fat replacers. The POV of com germ oil(CO), soybean oil(SO), shortening(ST), butter(BT), their blended oil with MCT 10-50%(w/w), and MCT were determined and oxidative stability by POV was compared MCT with those of them. MCT has shown higher oxidative stability than CO, SO, ST, BT, so oxidative stabilities in all kinds of blended oils become higher and higher by the increased substitution ratios. In case of bread, the volume of bread prepared with MCT(MCT bread) substituted for ST at 10-40% level(w/w) were increased a little comparing to that made of shortening(ST bread). But degree of gelatinization of MCT bread were a little lower than ST bread, at the substitute ratio above 40%, the degree of gelatinization were reduced greatly. These phenomena were sustained in 9 stored days. While baking losses of MCT breads were almost same as ST bread until 30% substitute ratio, and the appearances of MCT breads were similar to ST bread until 40% substitute ratio. Also rheological properties and color(Lab) of MCT breads had shown no different significantly from ST bread until 20% substitute ratio, but by the results of sensory evaluation, overall acceptance including appearance, color, flavor, taste, texture of MCT breads were recognized almost same as ST bread by panel until 40% substitute ratio. Depends on the above results, we can suggest that 30-40% of MCT will substitute for shortening in making bread in order to reduce fat and calories intake amounts.

  • 본 연구는 생후 발달 과정 동안 monocarboxylate transporter(MCT) isoform과 MCT의 발현 조절 단백질로 알려진 basigin(Bsg)과 embigin의 mRNA 발현을 흰쥐의 부정소에서 부위별로 real-time PCR 방법을 사용하여 알아보았으며, 에스트로젠과 에스트로젠 수용체 α의 작용에 의해 MCT1 발현이 조절되는지를 알아보기 위해 estrogen receptor α knockout(αERKO) 마우스를 이용하여 immunohistochemistry 방법을 통해 탐구하였다. 본 연구 결과는 다양한 MCT isoform(MCT1, 2, 3, 4와 8), Bsg과 embigin의 mRNA 발현이 부정소의 부위별로 연령에 따라 다르게 나타나며, 부정소에서 MCT1 단백질 발현은 corpus와 caudal 부위에서 apical 지역에 한정되어 나타나는 것을 보여 주었다. 또한 부정소에서 MCT1 단백질 발현은 에스트로젠 수용체 α의 존재 여부와 상관 없음이 보여졌다. 따라서, 본 연구는 MCT가 남성 생식기관인 부정소에서 정자 성숙과 저장을 위한 적절한 환경을 형성함으로써 남성 생식력의 유지에 관여 할 수 있음을 시사한다. 다치양자논리에 의한 다중제어 Toffoli 게이트의 실현 (Realization of Multiple-Control Toffoli gate based on Mutiple-Valued Quantum Logic)

  • 다중제어 Toffoli(multiple-control Toffoli, MCT) 게이트는 원시 게이트에 의존적인 양자 기술을 필요로 하는 매크로 레벨 다치(multiple-valued) 게이트이며, Galois Field sum-of-product(GFSOP)형 양자논리 함수의 합성에 사용되어 왔다. 가역 논리는 저전력 회로 설계를 위한 양자계산(quantum computing, QC)에서 매우 중요하다. 본 논문은 먼저 GF4 가역 승산기를 제안한 후 GF4 승산기 기반의 quaternary MCT 게이트 실현을 제안하였다. MCT 게이트 실현을 위한 비교에서 제안한 MCT 게이트가 다중제어 입력이 증가할수록 종전의 작은 MCT 게이트 합성 방법보다 원시 게이트 수와 게이트 지연을 상당량 줄일 수 있음을 보였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 남성 생식 기관인 efferent ductules(ED)에서 monocarboxylate transporter (MCT) isoform과 Basigin(Bsg)의 mRNA 발현을 탐구하고, MCT1의 발현이 에스트로젠 수용체 α에 의해 조절되는지를 연구하였다. 생후 여러 연령대의 백서 ED에서 MCT isoform과 Bsg의 mRNA 발현 여부는 real-time PCR에 의해 조사 되었고, 정상 생쥐와 에스트로젠 수용체 α knockout 생쥐를 사용하여 에스트로젠 수용체 α에 의한 MCT1의 발현 조절 여부는 immunohistochemistry 방법에 의해 간접적으로 알아 보았다. 본 연구 결과는 백서의 ED에서 MCT1, 2, 3, 4와 8 그리고 Bsg 유전자의 발현은 연령에 따라 다르게 나타나며, MCT1의 발현이 ED의 ciliated 세포의 basolateral 지역에서 발현되고 어떤 측면에서 ERα에 의해 조절되어 질 수 있음을 보여 주었다. 따라서 본 연구 결과는 MCT가 monocarboxylate의 세포 내, 외부로 운반을 조절함으로써 남성 생식기의 일부인 ED의 역할을 조절하는데 관여함을 시사한다.

MCT를 경구투여(經口投與)한 흰쥐의 혈중지질(血中脂質) 및 효소활성(酵素活性)에 미치는 영향(影響) (The Effect of Oral Administered Medium Chain Triglyceride Diet on the Serum Lipids and Enzyme Activities of Rats)

  • The purpous of the study was to find an effect of oral administered medium chain triglyceride(MCT) diet on the serum and enzyme activities of Spraque-Dawly rats when they were oral fed with MCT, soybean oil and palm oil. The result was as follow. 1) The body weight gains in MCT diet group was lower than that of the all experimental group. 2) Total cholesterol levels in serum and liver of MCT diet group were very lower than that of the all experimental groups. 3) HDL-cholesterol level of MCT diet group was higher than that of the all experimental group except normal group and VLDL, LDL-cholesterol levels was very higher. 4) TG and PL levels of MCT diet group higher than that of the control group. 5) The activities of GOT with soybean oil diet group and of GPT with MCT diet group were lower than that of the all experimental group. 6) HDL-levels in the serum lipoprotein of MCT diet group was increased and LDL levels was decreased.

Hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction and vascular contractility in monocrotaline-induced pulmonary arterial hypertensive rats

  • Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a progressive disease characterized by vascular remodeling of pulmonary arteries (PAs) and increased vascular resistance in the lung. Monocrotaline (MCT), a toxic alkaloid, is widely used for developing rat models of PAH caused by injury to pulmonary endothelial cells; however, characteristics of vascular functions in MCT-induced PAH vary and are not fully understood. Here, we investigated hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction (HPV) responses and effects of various vasoconstrictors with isolated/perfused lungs of MCT-induced PAH (PAH-MCT) rats. Using hematoxylin and eosin staining, we confirmed vascular remodeling (i.e., medial thickening of PA) and right ventricle hypertrophy in PAH-MCT rats. The basal pulmonary arterial pressure (PAP) and PAP increase by a raised flow rate (40 mL/min) were higher in the PAH-MCT than in the control rats. In addition, both high $K^+$ (40 mM KCl)- and angiotensin II-induced PAP increases were higher in the PAH-MCT than in the control rats. Surprisingly, application of a nitric oxide synthase inhibitor, L-$N^G$-Nitroarginine methyl ester (L-NAME), induced a marked PAP increase in the PAH-MCT rats, suggesting that endothelial functions were recovered in the three-week PAH-MCT rats. In addition, the medial thickening of the PA was similar to that in chronic hypoxia-induced PAH (PAH-CH) rats. However, the HPV response (i.e., PAP increased by acute hypoxia) was not affected in the MCT rats, whereas HPV disappeared in the PAH-CH rats. These results showed that vascular contractility and HPV remain robust in the MCT-induced PAH rat model with vascular remodeling.

데이터 분포와 연판정을 이용한 MCT-Adaboost 커널 분류기 (Kernel Classification Using Data Distribution and Soft Decision MCT-Adaboost)

  • MCT-Adaboost 학습 알고리즘은 각 학습 단계에서 배경과 객체를 구분하는 가장 좋은 특징을 찾는 학습 알고리즘이다. 각 학습 단계에서는 최적의 특징을 검출하기 위해 학습 데이터에서 각 특징의 각 커널에서 모든 오차율을 산정하고, 각 특징에서 모든 커널들의 합을 하였을 경우 최소 오차율을 가지는 특징을 선택하도록 되어 있다. 이를 선택하고 다음 학습때 영향을 주는 약분류기에서 기존의 MCT-Adaboost 방법은 경판정 방법으로 사용하였다. 이 방법은 특정 커널에서 객체 데이터와 배경 데이터의 오류율이 유사할 경우, 한쪽으로 판정하기 때문에, 제대로 된 결과값을 산정할 수 없는 문제가 있다. 이를 유연하게 하기 위해 본 연구에서는 연판정을 이용한 약분류기 방법을 제안한다. 기존의 MCT-Adaboost는 초기 가중치를 동일하게 산정한다. 하지만, 이는 데이터의 특성을 모른다는 가정하에 설계된 초기 가중치 설정이다. 본 논문에서는 데이터 분포를 이용하여 가중치를 확률적으로 다르게 할당함으로서, 적은 학습에도 좋은 결과를 보이는 방법을 제안한다. 실험 결과에는 기존의 MCT-Adaboost가 제안하는 성능평가를 통해, 본 연구가 제안하는 방법이 기존 방법에 비해 좋은 결과를 보였다.

Medium Chain Triglyceride 및 유지(油脂) 첨가식이(添加食餌)를 투여(投與)한 흰쥐의 혈중(血中) 및 간장(肝臟) Cholesterol대사(代射)의 변동(變動) (Effect of Medium Chain Triglyceride Diet on Cholesterol Metabolism of Serum and Liver in Rats)

  • The purpose of the study was to find an effect of Medium Chain Triglycerids (MCT) diet on cholesterol metabolism in rat. Sprague-Dawley rats were fed two different diets containing MCT(trioctanoate) and corn oil respectively. After feeding to each group for four weeks, the levels of serum and liver cholesterol, the excretion rates of fecal and biliary steroids, and also bile acid composition were investigated. The results obtained from the study are as follows : (1) The average body weight gain in MCT group was almost same as that in the corn oil group. (2) The concentration of serum cholesterol in MCT group was lower than that in the corn oil group. Therefore it is confirmed that the cholesterol lowing action of MCT diet was practically high. (3) The concentrations of liver cholesterol and Triglyceride in MCT group were almost same as that in the corn oil group. Therefore it is thought that the level of liver lipids was not influenced by the difference of diet in this study. (4) The excretion rate of fecal neutral steroid in MCT group was significantly lower than that in the corn oil group, while the rate of fecal bile acid excretion was about same in both MCT and corn oil group. (5) The composition rates of fecal bile acid such as cholic acid, chenodeoxycholic acid and deoxycholic acid, a secondary acid of cholic acid, in MCT group were significantly lower than that in the corn oil group. (6) The excretion rates of biliary cholesterol and bile acid in MCT group were significantly higher than that in the corn oil group, while the composition rates of biliary bile acid such as chenoddeoxycholic acid and deoxycholic acid in MCT group were significantly higher than that in the corn oil group.
