  • This paper described a results of field test based on plate bearing test of the restoration material, which was developed to restore the ground cavity due to sewerage damage. The analysis of bearing capacity characteristics on the restoration materials was performed by experimental results. The results showed that the load bearing capacity in the maximum stress condition of the foundation ground is about 66%-70%, when the expansion mat is embedded at the bottom of 0.1 m and 0.2 m from the ground surface. However, The load bearing capacity of expansion mat according to embedded depth was not large. The load bearing capacity of concrete mats was about 82%-90% compared with that of ground surface, and it showed about 50% of the load bearing capacity compared with the expansion mat. As a result of analysis of allowable bearing capacity according to restoration materials, it was confirmed that the allowable bearing capacity of the expansion mat and the concrete was about 130%-150% and about 160% more than the foundation ground, respectively.

  • Series Chinensis, Genus Iris, endemic to the far regions of East Asia, consists of four species and related varieties. This series is divided into two major groups (I. rossii and I. minutiaurea complex). In this study, the ITS region and matK gene sequences within nuclear ribosomal DNA and plastid DNA were analyzed in order to investigate the phylogenetic relationships among the I. minutiaurea complex (I. minutiaurea, I. odaesanensis, and I. koreana) and the taxonomic identities of a putative hybrid in Mt. Palgong. In the internal transcribed spacer (ITS1, 5.8S, and ITS2) region, a total of 106 cloned genomic sequences from three taxa were obtained to study the intragenomic polymorphisms of the ITS regions. Three taxa revealed high levels of intragenomic polymorphisms, indicative of incomplete nrDNA concerted evolution. This incomplete ITS concerted evolution in the series Chinensis may be linked to the recent species divergence and frequent interspecies hybridization of the series Chinensis. In the matK gene, three taxa were fairly separated by eleven variable sites. In eight individuals collected on Mt. Palgong, putative hybrids between I. odaesanensis and I. minutiaurea were clustered in the I. minutiaurea clade in the NJ (neighbor-joining) tree based on the matK gene. However, in the ITS tree, some of them were clustered in the I. odaesanensis clade and others were clustered in the I. minutiaurea clade. Therefore, the individuals on Mt. Palgong were formed by the hybridization between two taxa (I. odaesanensis and I. minutiaurea) and not through the lineage of I. koreana.

  • Tom coagulated with $CaCl_2$ was used to make high-Ca soy milk, named tofu milk. Physicochemical analysis of regular soy milk and tofu milk adjusted at various pH and/or heat-treated was carried out. Unheated and heat treated tofu milk kept stable conoldal state at pH 8. The solubility of soy milk was low at pH 4 but increased gradually at higher pH, while mat of tofu milk was almost unchanged between pH 4 and pH 7 but increased rapid1y above pH 8. At pH 8, the viscosity of tofu milk was almost the same as soy milk, while mat of heat-heated tofu milk was much higher man that of soy milk. Especially, steamed tofu milk seemed to be a thick paste unable to drink, but autoclaved tofu milk was suitable to drink. Phytic acid content of tofu milk was somewhat lower man mat of soy milk.

  • Sublimation of $Bi_2O_3$-based materials is an important degradation issue for the long-term applications of many electronic devices. A series of $SnO_2$-doped $Bi_2O_3$ materials (SBO), was synthesized, densified, and then tested in air or strong reducing atmosphere. The $SnO_2$-doping effects and sublimation kinetics of the SBO materials were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and precise mass loss measurement. The results show that formation of $Bi_2Sn_2O_7$ phase greatly retards the mass loss of SBO. The SBO samples show a surface sublimation in an energy of $52.6kJ{\cdot}mol^{-1}$. However, the sublimation is also controlled by surface microstructure as the amount of vaporizing species (the Bi or gaseous Bi-oxides) is more than 0.1 mass%. The evaporation is retarded on the rough surface and the mechanism of surface evaporation is changed to diffusional control.

  • This study was conducted to select the most suitable dye bath soil of mat rush for good quality. Dry stem weight ranged from 102.5 to 107.0 g, dry stem ratio ranged from 34 to 36%, color of stem ranged from soft gray to heavy gray, degree of softness ranged from high to low and degree of floating ranged from extremely high to low. All the good quality components, such as dry stem weight, dry stem ratio, color of stem, degree of softness and degree of floating showed large variations. Hadong white ceramic soil, the superior dye bath soil of mat rush, showed relatively superior values for all the good quality components with 102.5 g in light dry stem weight, 34% in high dry stem ratio, good color of soft gray in color stem, high in degree of softness and extremely high id degree of floating. The results indicate that dye bath soils shows different adaptabilities to a particular dye bath and Hadong white ceramic soil seems to be the most suitable dye bath soil of mat rush for good quality.

  • In this study, the behaviorof ion nitriding of AISI 304 stainless steel was investigated using plasma ion nitriding system. The characteristics of ion nitriding, and their micsoctrucyures, and physical properties were investigated as a function of process parmeteds. important conclusions can be summarzied as follows. Firstly, it was found that growth of nitride layer in ion nitriding are mainly affected by N2 partial pressures and nitriding temperatures for AISI 304 stainless steel. The $N_2$<\TEX> partial pressure plays on important role in ion nitriding since it determiness the incoming flux of nitrogen species onto specimen surface. Nitriding thmprrature is also important besauseit determines the diffusion rates of nitrogen through nitride layers. While both parameters affects the characteristics rateding are controlled by nitridingen diffusion nitration profiles of N and alloying elements such as Cr and Ni are observed through niride layers. Secondly, nitride layer consists of the upper white laywe having various nitride phases and the underneath diffusion layers. The thickness of white layer increases with $N_2$<\TEX> partial pressures and nitriding temperatures. The thinkness of diffusion layer is increasting nitriding temperatures. Finally, nitriding of stainless steels steel show slighly low their corrsionce prorerties. However, passivation properties, which is normally observed in stainless steels, were still observed aftre ion nitriding.

  • The 2-dimensiona electron gas (2DEG) layers have opened tremendous interests in the heterooxide interfaces formed between two insulating materials, especially between LaAlO3 and $SrTiO_3$. The 2DEG layers exhibit extremely high mobility and carrier concentrations along with metallic transport phenomena unlike the constituent oxide materials, i.e., $LaAlO_3$ and $SrTiO_3$. The current work inserted artificially the interfacial layer, $Sr_xCa_{1-x}TiO_3$ between $LaAlO_3$ and $SrTiO_3$, with the aim to controlling the 2-dimensional transports. The insertion of the additional materials affect significantly their corresponding electrical transports. Such features have been probed using DC and AC-based characterizations. In particular, impedance spectroscopy was employed as an AC-based characterization tool. Frequency-dependent impedance spectroscopy have been widely applied to a number of electroceramic materials, such as varistors, MLCCs, solid electrolytes, etc. Impedance spectroscopy provides powerful information on the materials system: i) the simultaneous measurement of conductivity and dielectric constants, ii) systematic identification of electrical origins among bulk-, grain boundary-, and electrode-based responses, and iii) the numerical estimation on the uniformity of the electrical origins. Impedance spectroscopy was applied to the $LaAlO_3/Sr_xCa_{1-x}TiO_3/SrTiO_3$ system, in order to understand the 2-dimensional transports in terms of the interfacial design concepts. The 2-dimensional conduction behavior system is analyzed with special emphasis on the underlying mechanisms. Such approach is discussed towards rational optimization of the 2-dimensional nanoelectronic devices.

  • The presence of the conduction interface in epitaxial $LaAlO_3/SrTiO_3$ thin films has opened up challenging applications which can be expanded to next-generation nano-electronics. The metallic conduction path is associated with two adjacent insulating materials. Such device structure is applicable to frequency-dependent impedance spectroscopy. Impedance spectroscopy allows for simultaneous measurement of resistivity and dielectric constants, systematic identification of the underlying electrical origins, and the estimation of the electrical homogeneity in the corresponding electrical origins. Such unique capability is combined with the intentional control on the interface composition composed of $SrTiO_3$ and $CaTiO_3$, which can be denoted by $SrxCa1-_xTiO_3$. The underlying $Sr_xCa1-_xTiO_3$ interface was deposited using pulsed-laser deposition, followed by the epitaxial $LaAlO_3$ thin films. The platinum electrodes were constructed using metal shadow masks, in order to accommodate 2-point electrode configuration. Impedance spectroscopy was performed as the function of the relative ratio of Sr to Ca. The respective impedance spectra were analyzed in terms of the equivalent circuit models. Furthermore, the impedance spectra were monitored as a function of temperature. The ac-based characterization in the 2-dimensional conduction path supplements the dc-based electrical analysis. The artificial manipulation of the interface composition will be discussed towards the electrical application of 2-dimensional materials to the semiconductor devices in replacement for the current Si-based devices.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the difference of muscle activity according to application of a foam roller during pilates. The 8 male subjects were selected and quadruped position, bridge, and core control movement of pilates were randomly assigned to 9 movements on a static mat motion, static foam-roller motion, and dynamic foam-roller actions. This program was conducted once at intervals of 1 week. The muscle activity of erector spinae, rectus abdominis, external oblique, gluteus medius, rectus femoris, and biceps femoris were measured and the collected data was analyzed by one-way ANOVA. First, in the quadruped, the rectus abdominis and external oblique, rectus femoris of the dynamic foam-roller actions showed higher muscle activity than the static mat motion and the static foam-roller motion(p <.001), gluteus medius muscle activity was also significantly higher (p <.05). biceps femoris were significantly higher in static foam-roller motions than in static mat-motion and dynamic foam-roller actions(p <.05). Second, biceps femoris muscle activity was highest in dynamic foam-roller actions than static mat-motion and static foam-roller motions during bridge(p <.001). Third, in the sitting core control, the rectus abdominis and gluteus medius of the dynamic foam-roller actions showed higher muscle activity than the static mat motion and the static foam-roller motion(p <.001). and activity of erector spinae muscle was also significantly higher (p <.01). external oblique were significantly higher in static mat-motion than in static foam-roller motions and dynamic foam-roller actions(p <.05). Considering the muscle activity during pilates exercise, it would be more effective to apply the method and difficulty.

  • Sea dyke construction is simply defined as a cutting procedure of sea water flow. Sea dyke construction is more difficult than in-land construction because it is placed on deep seabed and exposed sea wave attack. Especially, the final closure of sea dyke is most dangerous due to the fast velocity of tidal flow. The final closure is consisted with vast rubble and heavy stone gabion, therefore the discharge velocity at land side of final close section is irregularly and sometime occur the fast discharge velocity. In this paper, the seepage model test performed to evaluate seepage behavior of final closure and continuous sea dyke section such as discharge velocity, hydraulic gradient, and phreatic line with installation of bottom protection filter mat. Based on the seepage model test results, the maximum discharge velocity of final closure section is 1.7m/sec and the discharge velocity is decreased maximum 23.7% with installation of bottom protection filter mat.
