  • Ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) systems are integral to modern analytical laboratories, necessitating careful maintenance and operation protocols to ensure optimal performance. This document provides comprehensive guidelines for the proper shutdown and reactivation of UHPLC systems to prevent damage and maintain operational efficiency. • Shutdown: Remove the column and replace it with a union to avoid blockages. Flush the system with a compatible solvent mix, clean mobile phase reservoirs to prevent microbial growth, flush the pump with storage solvent, and clean the autosampler, including the needle and injection port. • Reactivation: Inspect the system for wear or damage, gradually reintroduce mobile phases starting with a weak solvent, reinstall the column securely, and perform system checks on baseline stability, pressure consistency, and detector performance. By adhering to these guidelines, laboratories can ensure the longevity and reliability of their UHPLC systems, maintaining high analytical performance and minimizing downtime. These procedures help prevent common issues such as blockages, contamination, and component wear, thereby supporting efficient and accurate analytical operations.

  • The aim of this study was to measure the setup variation for X (lateral), Y (longitude), and Z (vertical) by taking magnetic megavoltage computed tomography (MVCT) before treating the brain, oropharynx, lung, and prostate patients on helical tomotherapy. In this study, 30 patients were chosen for each of the treatment areas, and their skin was labeled with a mark on a treatment planning reference point when taking CT. We preceded MVCT prior to tomotherapy and then conducted an auto registration based on the bony landmarks; image registration was used for automatically matching the patient's setup. Lastly, we confirmed and evaluated the translation coordinates of the images for 30 patients. The following shows the comparison result of the setup errors of each part: X (lateral) showed the highest setup errors with $3.44{\pm}2.05$ from Lung; Y (longitude) showed the highest setup errors showing $3.40{\pm}2.87mm$ from Prostate; and Z (vertical) showed the highest setup errors showing $6.62{\pm}4.38mm$ from Lung. This result verifies that the setup error can be prevented by taking MVCT before the treatment, and Planning Target Volume (PTV) margins can be reduced by referring to the resulting value of each treatment part. Ultimately, the dosage of the normal organs can be decreased as well as any side effects.

  • Some rheological properties of subfractions for dextran in the molecular weights range from $3{\times}10^4$ to $2{\times}10^6$ was investigated at room temperature. The dependence of the viscosity on concentration, shear rate, pH & ionic strength, temperature and solvent effect was observed. From the experimental data the Mark-Houwink viscosity equation in water at $25^{\circ}C$ was determined for samples having the molecular weight ranging from $3{\times}10^4$ to $2{\times}10^6$ as$[{\eta}]=3.1{\times}10^{-3}\;Mw^{0.39}(in\;dl/g)$. The intrinsic stiffness of the dextran backbone was estimated by evaluating the 'characteristic ratio' $C_{\infty}$, which is below the 0.082. In the concentrated region, the viscosity was decreased with increasing shear rate and was exponentially decreased with raising temperature, the viscosity showed the maximum value at neutral condition. From the experimental data, it was concluded that dextran chain, linked by the ${\alpha}-1$, 6-glucosidic linkage, behaves like a flexible random coil chain in aqueous solution, dextran solutions were pseudoplastic power law fluids among the empirical models of non-Newtonian behavior. Urea was an active reagent which increases the viscosity and swells dextran while pyrididine and glycerol were inactive reagents. Also, it could be estimated that the formation of gel structure is promote to the neutral state, the molecular weight larger than $2{\times}10^5$, when electrolytic concentration is IN and Ureas is use to solvent.

  • Recently, the localization recognition system research has been studied using various sensors according to increased interest in autonomous navigation flight. In case of indoor environment which cannot support GPS information, we have to look for another way to recognize current position. The Image-based localization recognition system has been interested although there are lots of way to know current pose. In this paper, we explain the localization recognition system based on mark and implementation of autonomous navigation flight. In order to apply to real environment which cannot support marks, localization based on real-time 3D map building is discussed.

  • The pump-turbine impeller is the key component of pumped storage power plant. Current design methods of pump-turbine impeller are private and protected from public viewing. Generally, the design proceeds in two steps: the initial hydraulic design and optimization design to achieve a balanced performance between pump mode and turbine mode. In this study, the 3D inverse design method is used for the initial hydraulic impeller design. However, due to the special demand of high performance in both pump and reverse mode, the design method is insufficient. This study is carried out by modifying the geometrical parameters of the blade which have great influence and need special consideration in obtaining the high performance on the both modes, such as blade shape type at low pressure side (inlet of pump mode, outlet of turbine mode) and the blade lean at blade high pressure side (outlet of pump mode, inlet of turbine mode). The influence of the geometrical parameters on the performance characteristic is evaluated by CFD analysis which presents the efficiency and internal flow results. After these investigations of the geometrical parameters, the criteria of designing pump-turbine impeller blade low and high sides shape is achieved.

  • Although asymptotic bounds of wireless network capacity have been heavily pursued, the answers to the following questions are still critical for network planning, protocol and architecture design: Given a three-dimensional (3D) network space with the number of active users randomly located in the space and using the wireless communication technology, what are the expected per-flow throughput, network capacity, and network transport capacity? In addition, how can the protocol parameters be tuned to enhance network performance? In this paper, we focus on the ultra wideband (UWB) based wireless personal area networks (WPANs) and provide answers to these questions, considering the salient features of UWB communications, i.e., low transmission/interference power level, accurate ranging capability, etc. Specifically, we demonstrate how to explore the spatial multiplexing gain of UWB networks by allowing appropriate concurrent transmissions. Given 3D space and the number of active users, we derive the expected number of concurrent transmissions, network capacity and transport capacity of the UWB network. The results reveal the main factors affecting network (transport) capacity, and how to determine the best protocol parameters, e.g., exclusive region size, in order to maximize the capacity. Extensive simulation results are given to validate the analytical results.

  • Background and Purpose: Prospective memory (PM) has a known relationship with frontal function, and PM decline has been observed in amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI). Cerebral small vessel disease, as evidenced by white matter hyperintensities (WMHs), is linked to frontal dysfunction. This study was undertaken to evaluate the relationship between PM decline and WMHs in patients with aMCI. Methods: Of 74 enrollees with aMCI, 69 completed this prospective study. We compared total scores and sub-scores of the Prospective and Retrospective Memory Questionnaire (PRMQ) administered at baseline and 3 months later, stratifying patients by degree of WMHs. Results: A significant decline was seen in PRMQ total scores and PM scores at the 3-month mark in patients with moderate (vs. mild) degrees of WMHs ($-2.8{\pm}7.2$ vs. $0.2{\pm}7.1$; p=0.032). In addition, patients with moderate (vs. mild) degrees of deep WMHs (DWMHs) showed greater PM decline, whereas PM loss in patients with mild, moderate, or severe degrees of periventricular WMHs (PVWMHs) did not differ significantly. Conclusions: Findings of this study indicate that the burden of WMHs is consistently implicated in PM deterioration experienced by patients with aMCI, and signifies greater PM decline, especially in instances of extensive DWMHs. Greater attention to the change of PM is therefore needed in aMCI patients with WMHs.

  • This work concerns age studies of the spanish mackerel by vertebrae. The spanish mackerel samples were obtained mainly from Yosoo and Inchon regions during July to December, 1969. A total of 292 fish was collected during the present study. Except the vertebrae, the incremental growth is found to be vague or complicated on the most bony parts in spanish mackerel. The spanish mackerel has 50 vertebrae, and the size of vertebra varies according to its position. After several studies, therefore, sample centrum was selected from the 23rd vertebra throughout the present study. Sample centrum was then stained with Alizarin Red S. and examined under binocular stereoscopic microscope illuminated by reflected light. The surface of the centrum shows many ring-marks running parallel to the edge. The ring-marks were counted and the measurements of centrum radius (R) and radii of the ring-marks (r$\_$i/) were made by eyepiece micrometer. From available data, the average of each ring-mark radius was found to be; r$\_$1/=2.05mm, r$\_$2/=3.11mm, r$\_$3/=4.05mm, r$\_$4/=4.89mm, r$\_$5/=5.70mm and r$\_$6/=6.47mm, respectively. The mean fork length at the time of ring-mark formation was calculated to be; l$\_$1/=297.6mm, l$\_$2/= 390.1mm, l$\_$3/=472.2mm, l$\_$4/=545.5mm, l$\_$5/=616.2mm, and l$\_$6/= 683.4mm, respectively.

  • KJJVC(Korea-Japan Joint VLBI Correlator) was installed at the KJCC(Korea-Japan Correlation Center) and has been operated by KASI(Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute) from 2009. KJNC is able to correlate the VLBI observed data through KVN(Korean VLBI Network), VERA(VLBI Exploration of Radio Astrometry), and JVN(Japanese VLBI Network) and its joint network array. And it is used exclusively as computer in order to process the observed data for the scientific purpose KJJVC used the VSI(VLBI Standard Interface) as the VLBI international standard at the data input-output specification between each component. Especially, for correlating the observed data, the data is transmitted with 1024Mbps speed between Mark5B high-speed playback and RVDB(Raw VLBI Data Buffer). The EMI(Electromagnetic lnterference), which is occurred by data transmission with high-speed, cause the data loss and the loss occurrence is frequently often for long transmission cable. Finally it will be caused the data recognition error by decreasing the voltage level of digital data signal. In this paper, in order to minimize the data loss by measuring the EMI noise level in transmission of the VSI specification, the 3 methods such as 1) RC filtering method, 2) lmpedance matching using Microstrip line, and 3) Signal buffering method using Differential line driver, were proposed. To verify the effectiveness of each proposed method, the performance evaluation was conducted by implementing and simulations for each method. Each proposed method was effectively confirmed as the high-speed data transmission of the VSI specification.
