Different Oxygen Transmission Rate Packing Films During Modified Atmosphere Storage: Effects on Asparagus Spear Quality

  • The aim of this study was to determine suitable oxygen transmission rate (OTR) films for modified atmosphere (MA) storage of asparagus spears (Asparagus officinalis L.), and to examine the related changes in asparagus spear quality. Asparagus spears were packed with 10,000, 20,000, 40,000, 70,000, and $100,000cc/m^2{\cdot}day{\cdot}atm$ OTR film treatments for MA storage, and perforated film (conventional storage) was used as the control. The fresh weight loss rate was less than 1% in all OTR film treatments but not in the control. In all OTR film treatments, ethylene content rapidly increased on the first day of storage, and gradually decreased thereafter to $2.0{\mu}L{\cdot}L^{-1}$ by the final storage day. In the 10,000 cc and 20,000 cc OTR film treatments, carbon dioxide content was maintained within the permissible range for asparagus spears under recommended controlled atmosphere (CA) and MA conditions (5-12%). The oxygen content was maintained between 12% and 20% in all OTR film treatments. Hue angles and total chlorophyll content were highest in the 10,000 cc OTR film treatment in both tips and stems. Visual quality was maintained at a saleable level only in the 10,000 cc OTR film treatment until the final storage day (25 days). Based on sensory evaluation, the least off-odor was detected in the 10,000 cc OTR film treatment, and the most in the control treatment. While the soluble solids content decreased with all film treatments, it was maintained at the highest level in the 10,000 cc OTR film treatment. Vitamin C content decreased with all film treatments during storage, but was maintained at higher levels in the 10,000, 20,000, and 40,000 cc OTR film treatments. The firmness of tips and stems increased with storage duration in all film treatments, stems were firmer under the perforated film, 10,000, and 20,000 cc OTR film treatments. Given these results, the 10,000 cc OTR film treatment is considered the most appropriate for MA asparagus spear storage since visual quality and soluble solids content were maintained, and fresh weight loss, vitamin C content, off-odor, and yellowing were suppressed during storage.

수확 후 고온처리가 참외의 저온장해 완화와 저장성 향상에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Postharvest Heat Treatment on Alleviation Chilling Injury and Improvement Storability of Oriental Melon)

  • 저장전 고온처리($38^{\circ}$, 48시간)는 참외의 당도, 산도, 비타민 C의 함량과 ${\alpha}$-tocopherol 활성을 높였으며, $3^{\circ}C$의 MA저장중 생체중 감소 이산화탄소, 에틸렌그리고 아세트알데히드 발생량을 낮게 유지시켰다. 또한 저장후 외관상 품질, 경도, 당도, 산도, 비타민 C, ${\alpha}$-tocopherol 활성 등 내적품질이 고온처리한 참외에서 높은 수준을 유지하였는데 특히 저온장해정도를 알 수 있는 이온용 출량이 고온처리구에서 낮아 수확후 고온처리로 저온장해가 완화되었음을 알 수 있었다. 고온처리를 하지 않은 대조구는 저장 25일부터 Alternaria rot이 발견되었으나 고온처리구는 저장 종료일인 39일까지 부패가 발견되지 않았으며 외관상 품질에 대한 저장일수로 세운 회귀식에 의하면 저장수명이 고온처리구에서 8일 이상 연장되었다. 참외의 경우 저장전 $38^{\circ}C$의 낮은 고온에서 장시간 열처리를 함으로써 살균효과 저온장해 완화효과와 더불어 수명연장까지 얻을 수 있었다.

FMI기반 co-simulation에서 step size control을 위한 Markov chain을 사용한 예측 방법 (A Prediction Method using Markov chain for Step Size Control in FMI based Co-simulation)

  • FMI를 기반으로 하는 co-simulation의 마스터 알고리즘(MA)에서 시뮬레이션 결과의 정확도를 높이는 방법으로 zero crossing 포인트를 찾기 위한 Bisectional algorithm을 사용할 수 있다. 그러나 이 알고리즘은 많은 Rollback을 야기한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 제안하는 MA는 Bisection algorithm을 통해 zero crossing 포인트를 검출하면서도 반복되는 구간 그래프를 분석하여 그 값을 Markov chain을 적용하여 다음 구간을 예측하여 이를 step size에 적용한다. 시뮬레이션에서 실제 Rollback이 발생했을 때 그래프 형태별로 변화되는 step size를 배열로 저장하고, 이룰 다음 예측 구간에 적용함으로서 Rollback을 최소화하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 시뮬레이션 결과를 통해 제안하는 알고리즘이 기존 알고리즘에 비해 최대 20% 이상의 시뮬레이션 시간이 감소되는 것을 확인하였다.

강황, 상백피 및 감태 추출 혼합물을 첨가한 천연 주방세제 개발 (Development of Natural Dishwashing Liquid containing the Curcuma Longa L., Morus alba and Ecklonia cava extracts)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the quality characteristics of the natural dishwashing liquid added with the mixture extracts of Curcuma Longa L. (CL), Morus alba (MA) and Ecklonia cava (EC) at various concentrations. The pH and lightness of the natural dishwashing liquid were reduced by adding the mixture extracts, while the turbidity was increased. The natural dish washing liquid added with mixture extracts was shown to display strong antimicrobial activities against L. monocytogenes compared to that of control. Also, it revealed that antioxidant activity was increased depending on concentrations. However, natural dishwashing liquid added with mixture extracts showed the low detergency efficiency. In sensory evaluation, the natural dishwashing liquid containing CL 0.5%, MA 0.25% and EC 0.25% was preferred than the control and it showed negative result in skin patch test. These results suggest that the addition of CL 0.5%, MA 0.25% and EC 0.25% positively improved the qualities characteristics in the natural dish washing liquid.

Effectiveness of the Invisalign Mandibular Advancement Appliance in Children with Class II Division 1 Malocclusion

  • Background: This study aimed to determine the skeletal and dental effects in pediatric and adolescent Korean patients with Class II Division 1 malocclusion treated using the Invisalign Mandibular Advancement (MA®) appliance. Methods: The study included patients aged 6 to 18 years who received orthodontic treatment with the MA® appliance for Class II Division 1 malocclusion at the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Wonkwnag University Daejeon Dental Hospital, between July 1, 2018, and December 31, 2021. The treatment group consisted of 20 patients, 10 boys and 10 girls. The control participants were also 10 boys and 10 girls. Lateral cephalometric radiographs were taken before and after treatment, and 41 measurements of skeletal and dental changes were measured and analyzed using the V-CephTM 8.0 (Osstem Implant). All analyses were performed using SPSS software (IBM SPSS for Windows, ver 26.0; IBM Corp.), and statistical significance was tested using paired and independent samples t-tests for within-group and between-group comparisons, respectively. Results: The patients in the treatment group showed significant decreases in ANB (A point, Nasion, B point), maxillary protrusion, maxillary anterior incisor labial inclination, and maxillary protrusion after treatment. However, when compared with the growth changes observed in the control group, only ANB and maxillary protrusion decreased, with no significant differences in SNA, SNB, and mandibular length. Conclusion: Collectively, the results of this study confirm that the use of MA® appliance in pediatric and adolescent Korean patients with Class II Division 1 malocclusion results in a reduction of anteroposterior skeletal and dental disharmony.

The Power Analysis and Its Control of Two-phase Orthogonal Power Supply for the Continuous Casting

  • In order to improve the quality of the billet continuous casting, a two-phase orthogonal power supply (TPOPS) for electromagnetic stirrer is researched, which is composed of three-phase PWM rectifier and three-leg inverter. According to the power analysis of system, the ripple of dc-link voltage is analyzed and its analytical expression is derived. In order to improve the performance of electromagnetic stirring, an integrated control method with feedforward control is proposed for PWM rectifier to suppress the fluctuations of dc-link voltage and provide a stable dc source for inverter. According to the simplified equivalent model, a composite current control method is proposed for inverter. This proposed method can combine the merits of feedforward control with feedback control to effectively improve the dynamic output performance of TPOPS. Finally, a 300kVA prototype of TPOPS is developed, and the results have verified the analysis and control method.

  • Due to the improvement of PC Performance and Windows-based OS, PC-based control system is gradually taking over industrial control in the industry site. In this paper, we suggest the method to configure PC-based fault diagnosis system of I/O cards and the method to generate test signals to find out the short conditions of adjacent channels of cables which connect I/O cards with terminal blocks.

  • In this paper, we present a robust controller design method that can not only deal with the constant time delay plant but also an uncertain time delay one. For a constant time delay plant. The proposed DTC can independently adjust the set response and the disturbance response without any stability constraint. And in the uncertain time delay case, one can process the control design step with uncertainty norm bound. To verify real effectiveness, theoretical analysis and simulation results are given.
