Bubble Properties in Bubble Columns with Electrolyte Solutions (전해질용액 기포탑에서 기포특성)

  • Bubble properties such as size (chord length) and rising velocity were investigated in a bubble column with electrolyte solutions, of which diameter was 0.152m and 2.5m in height, respectively. The size and rising velocity of bubbles were measured by using the dual electrical resistivity probe method. Effects of gas and liquid velocities and ionic strength of liquid phase on the size and rising velocity of bubbles were determined. The bubble size increased with increasing gas velocity but decreased with increasing liquid velocity or ionic strength of liquid phase. The rising velocity of bubbles increased with increasing gas velocity and decreased with increasing ionic strength of liquid phase, however, it showed a slight maximum value with varying liquid velocity. The size and rising velocity of bubbles were well correlated with operating variables.

  • The present study introduces a procedure to prepare and manage a high-resolution rainfall and soil moisture (SM) database in the LAMP prediction system, especially for landslide researchers. The procedure also includes converting the data into spatial resolution suitable for their interest regions following proper map projection methods. The LAMP model precipitation and SM data are quantitatively and qualitatively evaluated to identify the model prediction characteristics using the ERA5 reanalysis precipitation and observed 10m depth SM data. A detailed process of converting LAMP Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) output data for 10m horizontal resolution is described in a step-wise manner, providing technical convenience for users to easily convert NetCDF data from the WRF model into TIF data in ArcGIS. The converted data can be viewed and downloaded via the LAMP website (http://df.ncam.kr/lamp/index.do) of the National Center for AgroMeteorology. The constructed database will contribute to monitoring and prediction of landslide risk prior to landslide response steps and should be data quality controlled by more observation data.

Study on the Synthesis and Physical Properties of Ophthalmic Polymer Containing Gold Nanoparticles (금 나노입자를 포함한 안의료용 고분자의 합성 및 물성에 관한 연구)

  • This study added Au colloid in martial of conventional contact lens in various concentrations and copolymerized by heating at $70^{\circ}C$ for 40 minutes, $80^{\circ}C$ for 40 minutes, and finally, $100^{\circ}C$ for 40 minutes. Using the polymer produced through the copolymerization process, we have produced a contact lens and measured the physical characteristics which showed oxygen transmissibility of $9{\sim}12{\times}10^{-9}$ cm/s mL $O_2$/mL ${\times}$ mmHg, water content of 27.84% ~ 32.17%, refractive index of 1.432 ~ 1.443, visible transmittance of 83.2% ~ 89.5% and tensile strength of 0.141 kgf ~ 0.152 kgf. The polymer satisfied the physical properties required to produce contact lenses. Also, we judged that the polymer is suitable to be applied as a functional material for ophthalmological purposes.

  • IGBT is a power semiconductor device that contains both MOSFET and BJT structures, and it has fast switching speed of MOSFET, high breakdown voltage and high current of BJT characteristics. IGBT is a device that targets the requirements of an ideal power semiconductor device with high breakdown voltage, low VCE-SAT, fast switching speed and high reliability. In this paper, we analyzed Gate oxide thickness, Trench Gate Width, and P+Emitter width, which are the top process parameters of 1,200V Trench Gate Field Stop IGBT, and suggested the optimized top process parameters. Using the Synopsys T-CAD Simulator, we designed IGBT devices with electrical characteristics that has breakdown voltage of 1,470 V, VCE-SAT 2.17 V, Eon 0.361 mJ and Eoff 1.152 mJ.

Di-(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid의 Zr염 추출제에 의한 Am과 Eu의 상호분리연구

  • 추출제 di-(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid건의 Zr 염으로 $^{241}$Am 및 $^{152}$Eu의 상호분리를 위한 용매추출공정에 대한 화학적 특성을 규명하였다. 추출공정에서 질산농도 0.5M, Zr 농도 8.7g/L, 추출제 HDEHP/n-dodecane 농도가 1M 일때 Am 및 Eu은 각각 92.3%와 99.1%가 추출되었으며, Zr 농도에 비례하여 Am, Eu의 추출율이 증가하는 상승효과를 나타내었다. pH가 3인 0.05M DTPA와 1M lactic acid 혼합 역추출용액으로 Am을 선택적으로 역추출한 결과 Am의 역추출율은 38.1% 이며, 이때 Am과 Eu의 상호분리비는 14.2 였다. 그리고 유기상에 남아 있는 Eu은 6M 질산용액으로 역추출한 결과 94.4%의 Eu가 역추출되었다.

  • Aromatic diamine JSH-21 showed an IC50 value of 9.2 uM with 74.5% inhibition at 30 uM, 53.5% at 10 uM and 24.5% at 3 uM on LPS-induced NO production in murine macrophages Raw 264.7. To examine whether inhibitory effect on NO production by JSH-21 was attributed to influence on iNOS expression, iNOS transcript and protein were analyzed by sequantitative RT-PCR and immunoblot analysis. Consistent with previous result on NO production, treatment of the Raw 264.7 cells with JSH-21 decreased the LPS-induced expression of iNOS transcript and protein in a dose-dependent manner with IC50 values of about 10 uM.   • Derived was the scalar wave equation of optical fibers. Based on the derived equation, the dispersion characteristics of arbitrarily profiled fibers were analyzed. We applied the 1-D FEM employing quadratic interpolation fucntions to solve the scalar wave equation. To find the optimum index distribution of a fiber that has the ultra-low total dispersion, we analyzed QC fibers as objects. Adding 2$_{nd}$ and 3$_{rd}$ clads to DC fiber, we investigated the change of dispersion characteristics. We found the QC fiber parameters for which the dispersion was ultra-low flattened, less than 0.5 ps/km.nm for ${\lambda}=1.4~1.6{\mu}m$, and the dispersion value was as low as 0.20 ps/km.nm at ${\lambda}=1.55{\mu}m$.

  • One set of MMIC library has been developed using gate recess etching by spin processor. It is superior than that of dipping Method in the uniformity and the reproducibility of gate recess. A DC characteristics of p-HEMT have a uniform characteristics in the whole wafer than that of dipping method. The low noise p-HEMT with the $0.6{\mu}m$ and $200{\mu}m$ of gate length and gate width, respectivily, has a uniform characteristics of Idss 130~145 mA, conductances 190~220mS/nm, and threshold voltage -0.7~-1.1V in the drain voltage of 2V.

  • Ergosta-4,6,8(14),22-tetraen-3-one (1), ergosta-7,24(28)-dien-3-ol (2), and 5,8-epidioxyergosta-6,22-dien-3-ol(3) were isolated from the fruit body of Phellinus pini. Their structures were based on spectroscopic methods including IR, MS, and NMR (1D and 2D). These compounds were screened for their ability to inhibit nitric oxide (NO) production in LPS-activated RAW 264.7 cells. Compounds 1, 2, and 3 reduced NO production in the assay with $IC_50$ values of 29.7 ${\mu}M$ (1), 15.1 ${\mu}M$ (2), and 18.4 ${\mu}M$ (3) respectively. They also suppressed the expression of protein and m-RNA of iNOS and COX-2 in a dose dependent manner by western blot analysis and RT-PCR experiment in LPS-activated microglial cells.

Molecular Characterization of Hallikar Breed of Cattle Using Microsatellite Markers

  • Molecular characterization of Hallikar, the native cattle breed of Karnataka, was undertaken using 19 cattle specific, highly polymorphic microsatellite markers recommended by FAO. The genomic DNA was subjected to PCR amplification and alleles were resolved through six per cent denaturing PAGE with a 10 bp DNA ladder followed by silver staining. Genotyping of animals was done based on allele size. The number of alleles ranged from three to nine with allele sizes ranging from 102 bp to 294 bp. These alleles were distributed in the frequency range between 0.0306 and 0.8673 in the population. The mean observed number of alleles was $6.368{\pm}1.4225$. The mean observed and expected heterozygosities were $0.7515{\pm}0.1734$ and $0.7850{\pm}0.1381$, respectively. The high heterozygosity observed implies presence of higher genetic variability within Hallikar breed. The PIC (Polymorphism Information Content) values ranged from 0.2322 (ETH152) to 0.8654 (ETH225). The percentage of polymorphic loci obtained was 100 as all the 19 microsatellite markers were found to be polymorphic. Except for ETH152, all the other loci had high PIC values, indicating that these markers are highly informative for characterization of Hallikar breed. The population was tested for Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium at 19 microsatellite loci, and at 74 per cent of the loci the population was found to be in disequilibrium.
