We characterized the properties of the fabricated filter with the total internal reflection mirror (TIR) in the rectangular ring resonator and very small multimode interference (MMI) couplers on an InP material platform for photonic integrated circuits. Coupling power in and out of a resonator is increased by using an optimum MMI length of 110 ${\mu}m$ and a width of 9 ${\mu}m$, respectively. The semiconductor optical amplifier with the length of 120 ${\mu}m$ is integrated in the resonator to compensate the loss of the internal waveguide and the TIR mirror. A free spectral range of approximately 2 nm (244 GHz) is observed with an on-off ratio of 13 dB. The curve fitting also yields the power coupled per pass as 42%. To reach critical coupling at this coupling level would require a round trip loss of about 2.4 dB.
0.36[wt%l $SiO_{2}$ and 0.1[wt%] $H_{3}$B $O_{3}$ were added to strontium ferrite magnets of the magnetoplumbite phase SrO.5.7F $e_{2}$$O_{3}$ to hinder grain growth and accelerate sintering, respectively. This experiment was carried out to investigate effect of particle size distribution as a function of milling time(20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 hours) on the magnetic properties of SrO.5.7F $e_{2}$$O_{3}$ ferrite magnet. The B-H curve, density and the degree of orientation were measured. And the microstructure of ferrite magnets was examined with a SEM. The optimal conditions and properties of the typical sample are the following : The milling time was 60 hours. Magnetic and physical properties are $B_{r}$=4, 000[G], $_{b}$$H_{c}$=3, 330[Oe], (BH)max=3.786[MGOe], $_{I}$$H_{c}$=3, 525[Oe], density=5.0063[g/c $m^{3}$] and orientation factor f=0.813.0.813.3.3.
To evaluate the performance of concrete load bearing walls in a structure under horizontal loads after being exposed to real fire, two steps were followed. In the first step, an experimental study was performed on the thermo-mechanical properties of concrete after heating to temperatures of 200-1000℃ with the purpose of determining the residual mechanical properties after cooling. The temperature was increased in line with natural fire curve in an electric furnace. The peak temperature was maintained for a period of 1.5 hour and then allowed to cool gradually in air at room temperature. All specimens were made from calcareous aggregate to be used for determining the residual properties: compressive strength, static and dynamic elasticity modulus by means of UPV test, including the mass loss. The concrete residual compressive strength and elastic modulus values were compared with those calculated from Eurocode and other analytical models from other studies, and were found to be satisfactory. In the second step, experimental analysis results were then implemented into structural numerical analysis to predict the post-fire load-bearing capacity response of the walls under vertical and horizontal loads. The parameters considered in this analysis were the effective height, the thickness of the wall, various support conditions and the residual strength of concrete. The results indicate that fire damage does not significantly affect the lateral capacity and stiffness of reinforced walls for temperature fires up to 400℃.

In this study, a new design equation was presented for square CFTs with high-strength concrete subjected to axial compression and bending. In a previous study, a design equation for square CFTs with normal strength concrete was proposed. A parametric study by fiber analysis was performed taking the width-to-thickness ratio (b/t) and the relative concrete strength to the yield strength of the steel tube (fck/Fy) as the main parameters of this study to determine the maximum moment and the axial load at the maximum moment. A new constitutive model for concrete was adopted for fiber analysis in order to take into account the effect of high-strength concrete. The results of the parametric study were embedded into the method which was presented in the previous study to formulate a new design equation that can be easily used for estimating the strength of square CFTs with high-strength concrete.

An electret filter is composed of permanently charged electret fibers and is widely used in applications requiring high collection efficiency and low-pressure drop. In this work, the fractional collection efficiency of the filter media used in manufacturing cabin air filters was investigated by using highly monodisperse particles ranging from 0.02 to 0.6 $\mu\textrm{m}$ in diameter at three different charging states: singly charged, uncharged, and equilibrium charged. The face velocity was varied from 2.4 to 20.4 crus. It was fecund that the fractional efficiency curve fur singly charged particles shows a typical trend that the collection efficiency is minimum at about 0.3 $\mu\textrm{m}$ in diameter. The fractional efficiency of equilibrium charged particles were not severely varied with the particle diameter. The collection efficiency curve fur uncharged particles has a minimum near 0.1 $\mu\textrm{m}$ in diameter. Another experiment was conducted for a cartridge filter to examine the effect of charge depletion on the collection efficiency in a cabin air filter. The result shows that the charge depletion of the cartridge filter can significantly lower the collection efficiency.

PURPOSES : This study is to conduct the research on the design principle for the driver's safety and comfort in installing consecutive curves of superhighway. METHODS : Superhighway does not currently exist in domestic area. Thus, this study is conducted by collecting driving behavior usage of 30 people who are involved in the members of the virtual driving simulation. By identifying the distribution characteristics of each scenario in ANOVA & Tukey Test, the distribution are categorized into three groups. RESULTS : In the case of Group A in Section 3 (R2 entry part), lane departure exceeds the safety standard, which means to be risky condition. And then in the case of Group B and C, the lane departure values applying theoretical formula was evenly distributed compared to the proven values. CONCLUSIONS : Based on the result, the continuous curve design principles at superhighway should follow three standards as follow. First, an additional linear part needs to be inserted between two curves. Second, what if inserting the linear part is difficult, it would be better to insert a curve more than 2,000m. Third, R1/R2 ratio should not be over two. This design primarily aims to the safety of the operator. Such road alignment also meets the expectations of drivers, thus, it may help drivers to be compatible and amenable while driving continuous curve in superhighway.
This study was performed to offer the data for design of the seedling bed transfer equipment to make the automation of working process in a plant factory. The seedling bed transfer equipment pushing the seedling bed with bearing wheels on the rail for interconnecting each working process by a pneumatic cylinder was made and examined. The examined transfer force to push the seedling bed with a weight of 178.9 N by the pneumatic cylinder with length of 60 cm and section area of 5 $cm^2$ was measured by experiments. The examined transfer forces was compared with theoretical ones calculated by the theoretical formula derived from dynamic system analysis according to the number of the seedling bed and pushing speed of the pneumatic cylinder head at no load. The transfer function of the equipment with the input variable as the pushing speed $V_{h0}$(m/s) and the output variable as the transfer force f(t)(N) was represented as $F(s)=(V_{h0}/k)(s+B/M)/(s(s^2+Bs/M+1/(kM))$ where M(kg), k(m/N) and B(Ns/m) are the mass of the bed, the compression coefficient of the pneumatic cylinder and the dynamic friction coefficient between the seedling bed and the rail, respectively. The examined transfer force curves and the theoretical ones were represented similar wave forms as to use the theoretical formular to design the device for the seedling bed transfer. The condition of no vibration of the transfer force curve was $kB^2>4M$. The condition of transferring the bed by the repeatable impact and vibration force according to difference of transfer distance of the pneumatic cylinder head from that of the bed was as $Ce^{-\frac{3{\pi}D}{2\omega}}<-1$, where ${\omega}=\sqrt{\frac{1}{kM}-\frac{B^2}{4M^2}}$, $C=\{\frac{\frac{B}{2M}-\frac{1}{kB}}{\omega}\}$, $D=\frac{B}{2M}$. The examined mean peak transfer force represented 4 times of the stead state transfer force. Therefore it seemed that the transfer force of the pneumatic cylinder required for design of the push device was 4Bv where v is the pushing speed.
Let M be a complete spacelike hypersurface in the (n + 1)-dimensional Minkowski space ${\mathbb{L}}^{n+1}$. Suppose that every unit speed curve X(s) on M satisfies ${\langle}X^{\prime\prime}(s),X^{\prime\prime}s){\rangle}{\geq}-1/r^2$ and there exists a point $p{\in}M$ such that for every unit speed geodesic X(s) of M through the point p, ${\langle}X^{\prime\prime}(s),X^{\prime\prime}s){\rangle}=-1/r^2$ holds. Then, we show that up to isometries of ${\mathbb{L}}^{n+1}$, M is the hyperbolic space $H^n(r)$.
This study focused on the mechanical and hydraulic characteristics of underwater tunnels based on Mohr-Coulomb (M-C), Hoek-Brown (H-B) and generalized H-B failure criteria. An improved approach for calculating stress, displacement and plastic radius of the circular tunnel considering hydraulic-mechanical coupling was developed. The innovation of this study was that the radius-incremental-approach was reconstructed (i.e., the whole plastic zone is divided into a finite number of concentric annuli by radius), stress and displacement of each annulus were determined in terms of numerical method and Terzaghi's effective stress principle. The validation of the proposed approach was conducted by comparing with the results in Brown and Bray (1982) and Park and Kim (2006). In addition, the Rp-pin curve (plastic radius-internal supporting pressure curve) was obtained using the numerical iterative method, and the plastic radius of the deep-buried tunnel could be obtained by interpolation method in terms of the known value of internal supporting pressure pin. Combining with the theories in Carranza and Fairhurst (2000), the improved technique for assessing the reliability of the tunnel support was proposed.

This paper describes a power control scheme to improve the performance of a fuel cell battery hybrid power source for residential application. The proposed power control scheme includes a power control strategy to control the power flow of the fuel cell hybrid power system and a digital control technique for a front-end dc-dc converter of the fuel cell. The power control strategy enables the fuel cell to operate within the high efficiency region defined by the polarization curve and efficiency curve of the fuel cell. A dual boost converter with digital control is applied as a front-end dc-dc converter to control the fuel cell output power. The digital control technique of the converter employs a moving-average digital filter into its voltage feedback loop to cancel the low frequency harmonic current drawn from the fuel cell and then limits the fuel cell output current to a current limit using a predictive current limiter to keep the fuel cell operation within the high efficiency region as well as to minimize the fuel cell oxygen starvation.
