Studies on the Estimation of K2O Requirement for rice through the Chemical Test Data of Paddy Top Soil (화학분석(化學分析)을 통(通)한 수도(水稻)의 가리적량(加里適量) 추정(推定)에 관한 연구(硏究))

  • This study has been made to find out the possibilty of successfully using the following $K_2O$ recommended equation $K_2O\;kg/10a=(Ko/\sqrt{Ca+Mg}-Ks/\sqrt{Ca+Mg})sqrt{Ca+Mg}.\;47.\;B\;D$. where $Ko/sqrt{Ca+Mg}=0.03518+0.0007658\;Sio_2/O.M$. $K_Ssqrt{Ca+Mg}$=Exchangeable K me/100g/$\sqrt{Total\;soluble(Ca+Mg)me/100g\;in\;Soil}$ B. D. =Bulk density of top soil, when the dose of Nitrogen for rice is estimated from the following equation: $N\;kg/10a=(4.2+0.096\;SiO_2/O.M).F$ where $F=0.907+0.263x-0.013x^2$ $SiO_2/O.M=(available\;SiO_2=ppm)/(organic\;matter\;%)$in soil For this. two field experiments. one in sandy and the other in clay paddy soil. have been conducted using 3 levels of wollastonite (0, 500, 100kg/10a) as main treatments; 3 levels of $K_2O$ application were used as sub-plots. These were as follows : (1) 8kg of $K_2O$/10a regardless of the K activity-$K/\sqrt{Ca+Mg}$; (2) kg of $K_2O$/10a estimated from the above equation. and (3) same as (2) above plus additional 30% of $K_2O$. The dose of N kg/ 10a was determined from the above equation based on the value of $SiO_2$/O.M. ratio in each treatment. There were three replications. The leading variety of rice in Chung Chong Nam Do area. Akibare (introduced from Japan) was used. The data obtained. through soil and plant analysis and growth and yield observations. have been throughly examined to attain the following summarized conclusions. 1. The nitrogen dose. estimated from the above equation. was in excess for optimum growth of the rice variety Akibare; indicating the necessity of modification onthe value of "F" or the constants in the equation. The concept of using $SiO_2$/O.M. in the equation was shown to be applicable. 2. The dose of potash. estimated from the respective equation given above. also was in excess of the rice requirements indicating the necessity of minor change in the estimation of $Ko/\sqrt{Ca+Mg}$ value and some great modification in the calculation of $Ks/\sqrt{Ca+Mg}$ value for the equation; however the concept of using $K/\sqrt{Ca+Mg}$ as a basis of $K_2O$ recommendation was shown to be quite reasonable. 3. It was found. from the correlation study using the data of paddy yield and amount of $K_2O$ absorbed by rice plants that the substitution of the value of $Ks/\sqrt{Ca+Mg}$ in the equation for the vaule $Ks/\sqrt{Ca+Mg}=0.037+0.78K\;me/100g$ soil was much more applicable than using the value calculated from the data of soil and wollastonite analysis.

  • To improved the multi-resolution fast hierarchical motion estimation by using de-interlacing algorithm that is effective in term of both performance and VLSI implementation, is proposed so as to cover large search area field-based as well as frame based image processing in SoC design. In this paper, we have simulated a various picture mode M=2 or M=3. As a results, the proposed algorithm achieved the motion estimation performance PSNR compare with the full search block matching algorithm, the average performance degradation reached to -0.7dB, which did not affect on the subjective quality of reconstructed images at all. And acquiring the more desirable to adopt design SoC for the fast hierarchical motion estimation, we exploit foreground and background search algorithm (FBSA) base on the dual arithmetic processor element(DAPE). It is possible to estimate the large search area motion displacement using a half of number PE in general operation methods. And the proposed architecture of MHME improve the VLSI design hardware through the proposed FBSA structure with DAPE to remove the local memory. The proposed FBSA which use bit array processing in search area can improve structure as like multiple processor array unit(MPAU).

Wind Effect on the Distribution of Daily Minimum Temperature Across a Cold Pooling Catchment (냉기호 형성 집수역의 일 최저기온 분포에 미치는 바람효과)

  • When wind speed exceeds a certain threshold, daily minimum temperature does not drop as predicted by the geospatial model in a cold pooling catchment. A linear regression equation was derived to explain the warming effect of wind speed on daily minimum temperature by analyzing observations at a low lying location within an enclosed catchment. The equation, Y=2X+0.4 ($R^2$=0.76) where Y stands for the warming ($^{\circ}C$) and X for the mean horizontal wind speed (m/s) at 2m height, was combined to an existing model to predict daily minimum temperature across an enclosed catchment on cold pooling days. The adjusted model was applied to 3 locations submerged in a cold air pool to predict daily minimum temperature on 25 cold pooling days with the input of simulated wind speed at each location. Results showed that bias (mean error) was reduced from -1.33 to -0.37 and estimation error (RMSE) from 1.72 to 1.20, respectively, in comparison with those from the unadjusted model.

Allometric Equations of Crown Fuel Biomass and Analysis of Crown Bulk Density for Pinus densiflora (소나무 수관 부위별 연료량 추정식 개발 및 수관연료밀도 분석)

  • To analyze the characteristics of canopy fuel in Pinus densiflora stand, which is essential to assess the crown fire hazard, allometric equations for estimation of crown fuel biomass were developed by subjectively categorized crown fuel component and crown bulk density was analyzed by available fuel component categories. Ten trees were destructively sampled at Pinus densiflora stand in Mt. Palgong in Daegu and their crown fuels were weighed separately for each fuel category by size classes and by living and dead. Regression equations that estimate crown fuel load by diameter at breast height(D) or additional total height(H) were derived. The adjusted coefficient of determination values were the highest (${R^2}_{adj}$=0.835-0.996) and standard error of estimate were the lowest (SEE=0.074-0.638) in the allometric equation lnWt=${\alpha}+{\beta}lnD+{\gamma}lnH$ in average. However, in needles and small branches categories, the differences in ${R^2}_{adj}$ and SEE between equations were not significant. Crown bulk density (CBD), which was calculated by crown fuel load divided by crown volume, was 0.067 kg/$m^3$ in average when only needles were considered as available crown fuel and 0.097 kg/$m^3$ when needles and branches (0-0.5 cm diameter) were considered. The increments of CBD of needles and small branches were little even when diameter at breast height increased.

Comparative Study on Hyperspectral and Satellite Image for the Estimation of Chlorophyll a Concentration on Coastal Areas (연안 해역의 클로로필 농도 추정을 위한 초분광 및 위성 클로로필 영상 비교 연구)

  • Estimation of chlorophyll a concentration (CHL) on coastal areas using remote sensing has been mostly performed through multi-spectral satellite image analysis. Recently, various studies using hyperspectral imagery have been attempted. In particular, airborne hyperspectral imagery is composed of hundreds of bands with a narrow band width and high spatial resolution, and thus may be more effective in coastal areas than estimation of CHL through conventional satellite image. In this study, comparative analysis of hyperspectral and satellite-based CHL images was performed to estimate CHL in coastal areas. As a result of analyzing CHL and seawater spectrum data obtained by field survey conducted on the south coast of Korea, the seawater spectrum with high CHL peaked near the wavelength bands of 570 and 680 nm. Using this spectral feature, a new band ratio of 570 / 490 nm for estimating CHL was proposed. Through regression analysis between band ratio and the measured CHL were generated new CHL empirical formula. Validation of new empirical formula using the measured CHL showed valid results, with R2 of 0.70, RMSE of 2.43 mg m-3, and mean bias of 3.46 mg m-3. As a result of applying the new empirical formula to hyperspectral and satellite images, the average RMSE between hyperspectral imagery and the measured CHL was 0.12 mg m-3, making it possible to estimate CHL with higher accuracy than multi-spectral satellite images. Through these results, it is expected that it is possible to provide more accurate and precise spatial distribution information of CHL in coastal areas by utilizing hyperspectral imagery.

The Study on the Economic Effects of Advanced Water Treatment by using CVM (CVM을 이용한 고도정수처리의 경제적 효과 분석)

  • This paper attempts to measure the economic benefits of advanced water treatment in five cities (Goyang, Paju, Gumi, Gimcheon, Chilgok), which are supplied water from Goyang and Gumi filtration plant. We used the dichotomous choice contingent valuation method to estimate WTP. Parametric interval-data model are used to obtaining the mean WTP estimates. The results show that the mean of additional WTP for advanced water treatment services were estimated to be KRW 231.3 and KRW 231.2 per $m^3$ using model with covariates and without covariates, respectively. Given the water supplies of Goyang and Gumi filtration plants ($59.675m^3/y$ and $93.734m^3/y$), the economic benefits of those advanced water treatments can be expected to be KRW 13.8 billion and KRE 21.68 billion. And the calculated B/C ratios are 3.7 and 2.1 when a lifespan of facility is 10 years. Advanced water treatment should be introduced in terms of the economic benefits and costs. Thus, this results can be useful in water policy decision-making.

  • 본 논문은 공간상에서 움직이는 다중신호원의 신호 도달 방향 추정과 신호원이 보낸 신호를 다중 센서 어레이를 이용하여 판별하는 문제를 다룬다. 일반적으로 정지하고 있는 신호원의 방향 추정은 어레이에서의 출력 방정식의 방향 벡터들이 시불변인 상수이기 때문에 잡음환경 하에서도 샘플링된 벡터(Snapshot) 수가 늘어날수록 훨씬 정확하게 방향 추정이 가능하지만 신호원이 움직이는 경우에는 신호원의 방향이 변하게 되어 결국 어레이 방정식의 방향 벡터들이 시변이므로 추정값의 분산(variance)이 커지게 되어 정확한 추정이 어렵게 된다. 이러한 경우에 대한 정량적인 분석 예는 드물어 실제 여러 가지 추정 기법들의 특성이 어떻게 나타나는지 가늠하기가 어렵다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 경우에 대한 시나리오 예를 설정한 후 이 시나리오에 따른 랜덤 가우시안 잡음 하에서의 수치 데이터 모델을 생성하여 수신기에서는 미지의 값인 이 데이터에 대해 기존의 DOA 추정 기법을 이용하여 추정을 수행하여 그 정량적인 결과들을 계산해 봄으로써 시변인 경우에서의 그 성능을 판단해 보기로 한다.

UKF Localization of a Mobile Robot in an Indoor Environment and Performance Evaluation (실내 이동로봇의 UKF 위치 추정 및 성능 평가)

  • This paper reports an unscented Kalman filter approach for localization of a mobile robot in an indoor environment. The method proposes a new model of measurement uncertainty which adjusts the error covariance according to the measured distance. The method also uses non-zero off diagonal values in error covariance matrices of motion uncertainty and measurement uncertainty. The method is tested through experiments in an indoor environment of 100*40 m working space using a differential drive robot which uses Laser range finder as an exteroceptive sensor. The results compare the localization performance of the proposed method with the conventional method which doesn't use adaptive measurement uncertainty model. Also, the experiment verifies the improvement due to non-zero off diagonal elements in covariance matrices. This paper contributes to implementing and evaluating a practical UKF approach for mobile robot localization.

Suggestion of Charts and Equations Estimating the Strength Parameters of Rock Mass Using the Rock Mass Classification Value (RMC 값을 이용한 암반의 강도정수 값 추정도표 및 추정식의 제안)

  • The strength parameters used in rock mass design are mainly estimated by equations using Hoek-Brown failure criterion because the tests to obtain the values are limited and expensive. To estimate the strength parameters, the Hoek-Brown failure criterion should be transformed to the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion. But the processes are more or less cumbersome due to the several stages including the computation and the analyzing steps. In this study, several rock states of various conditions were modeled and then the strength parameters were estimated using the Hoek-Brown failure criterion. Thereafter by analyzing the results, some charts and equations estimating the strength parameters through only one step or easily in the field using the values of RMC, the uniaxial compressive strength and the rock constant ($m_i$), were suggested. And then the suggested method was compared and discussed with the existing method.

A Performance Improvement on Navigation Applying Measurement Estimation in Urban Weak Signal Environment (도심에서의 측정치 추정을 적용한 항법성능 향상 연구)

  • In recent years, Transport Demand Management has been conducted for the efficient management of transport. In ITS applications in particular, the prerequisite is accurate and reliable positioning. However, the major problems are satellite signal outage, and multipath. This paper proposes that outage and multipath measurement can be detected and estimated using elevation angle and signal to noise ratio data association relation in stand-alone GPS. In order to verify the performance of the proposed method, it is then evaluated by the car test. the evaluation test environment has low accuracy and unreliable positioning because of signal outage or multipath such as steep hill and high buildings. In the evaluation test result, 918times abnormal signal occurred and it was confirmed that the proposed method showed more improved 9.48m(RMS) horizontal positioning error than without proposed method.
